the_julester,
Really like Doodle Jump 2, except for a few things
I have been enjoying Doodle Jump 2, but I have found a few things that don’t seem to work the same way as the other Doodle Jump versions. First, whenever you get a propeller hat, a jet pack or a rocket, as you fly upward and pass by stars, you don’t collect them as you would in the other versions, you just go right past them. And when you get a magnet, it doesn’t draw the stars to you, as it does in the other versions, they seem to do absolutely nothing. I also have a question about the final gold mine level: Why don’t the gold nuggets that you collect accumulate like the stars and other items in the other versions of Doodle Jump, like the Christmas and Batman ones? Those games allow you to accumulate the things you collect in order to purchase various things, like power-ups and different characters & outfits. Again, I am enjoying Doodle Jump 2, I think it could just use some improvements so it functions as well as the other versions of Doodle Jump.
squintahh,
Disappointing
I’ve been playing regular doodle jump for a while and was excited to try this version. It took a bit to adjust to the height gaining difference which was ok but the game mechanics are so frustrating in this version. Black holes seem to get you from a much further distance, platforms are easier to miss, jumps don’t feel as uniform, and the most frustrating thing is that jet packs drop you at the bottom of the screen where it’s tough to catch a platform. Additionally due to a higher level of difficulty games end much sooner and there’s ads after every game. I definitely won’t be shelling out $5 to get rid of ads on this game.

The new platforms are cool but can be too much all at once. The amount of traps that occur all at once is ridiculous for a fast moving game. Way too many black holes. The original eases into difficulty way better than this one which just throws you in the deep end where a skilled player can die in the first 500. I will say im not the best at the original but I’ve scored over 200k and 100k a handful of times where in this game 2 minutes of playing gets to the difficulty seen around 10 minutes of playing the original. I suspect that scoring is scaled down 10x but it seems so unnecessary. I’d give the game 4-5 stars if they fixed black holes, difficulty easing, and scoring.

Meh
It’s not bad, but it is not nearly as much fun as the original game. It costs more to prevent ads, there is less variety in worlds, and the gameplay of the sequel is terrible. Not a fan of how it takes like 10 years to reach 1000 score, I regularly surpass 100,000 in the original, while i have never even reached 10,000 in this version. I have played Doodle Jump on and off for probably around 10 years and have never died in a black hole the amount of times I have in the day of playing this game. Some of the jumps are near impossible and sometimes I just have to give up and die. The whole unlocking worlds thing is a little bit annoying, but not too much of a problem, gives you incentive to play each world however it does drag and get annoying. Half the worlds are also the exact same as the default world with some minor tweaks which I am not a fan of, especially because the more creative worlds are even better than the worlds in the original game. By no means it is a bad game, but it will never come close to being as good as the original Doodle Jump, unfortunately.
ChocoChip32,
Great, but missing a few things
I absolutely love this sequel, and it takes me back to when I played the original Doodle Jump as a kid over a decade ago. The new graphics are mesmerizing, but this doesn’t have all of the charm and addictiveness the original has.
I would love to see some of elements the first game had that makes me still pick it up today, such as a collectible and spendable currency, power-ups and costumes you can unlock, and most importantly, challenges for each theme that reward you if you complete them. I like the stars in Doodle Jump 2, but they make the game a bit too frustrating because they often guide you to traps, and garnering them to unlock the next theme feels like a chore when you play for a long time. Anyways, the basketball theme is my definite favorite so far, even though I dislike the sport in real life.
I hope that Doodle Jump 2 can surpass the first Doodle Jump in replayablity and content-matter some day!
MehdoMonk,
A Flawed Successor
In terms of its core gameplay, Doodle Jump 2 improves upon that of the original Doodle Jump while maintaining the style and charm of the original. However, there are a few glaring issues that hold it back from its full potential. Firstly, the level design is such that there is not really a significant difference between the levels other than a reskin, but the star system requires you to play each unlocked level more than the last in order to unlock the next level. It would be far better if the stars were collected cumulatively, so that the player could choose their favorite level and play that while collecting stars to unlock the latest level. Additionally, the ads are far too frequent, appearing after nearly every level. This is annoying to the point that I often turn on airplane mode to play the game. There is an option to remove the ads for $2.99, but that seems an unjustified price tag given the original is available for $0.99 and doesn’t have many of the same issues.
MeaMillion1000000,
A ill made game. That’s just my perspective.
The only reason I download in this is because I appreciated the first one enough,But what really bothers me I didn’t download it because I thought oh this will be fun it’s because it wouldn’t let me play the first one with the stupid pop up add so I was technically forced into downloading it so I can play the first one now I knew that there was a DoodleJump2 I don’t care I like the first one The only reason I’m giving it three stars yes because it wasn’t that bad don’t see this as a satisfaction of I put an ad on the game that I made and someone download it in the actually liked it I didn’t care for it I didn’t like how you have a number of stars to collect and then you get to play the next level I like the first one you just free roam nothing to do it was just what you wanted to do which is what I like freedom Play the game that you want and you violated it made me do something and I didn’t want to do. But if you really want to experience this if you really want to download DoodleJump2 I encourage you.
eternal potato,
Honest opinion
So I’ve actually been a huge fan of doodle jump for over a decade. I’ve loved the simplicity of the game and was addicted from the very beginning. During the first game I was super impressed by the new styles being introduced and the different achievements and unlockables you could obtain. With Dood Jump 2 I feel like there’s a lot of wasted potential. Don’t get me wrong, I think some of the levels are really charming, but overwhelmingly there’s really no creative license with most the levels. Like the rain and final level! I would have loved little puddles on platforms that cause splashing animations and sounds as you boosted off of them, or a bit of thunder and lightning. It would have been so cool if there where platforms you had to avoid because lightning was about to strike it! Idk.. just lacking soul I guess.

I’d like to add just how disappointed I was to not see any great creative backgrounds like on doodle jump 1. They where boring :/. And I know y’all have it in you!
Don’t even get me started on the final stage lol. I don’t understand it’s theme at all. It was boring and just as significant as the first stage except of the annoying background music.

I’m not trying to sound hyper critical of this game, because I honestly still love it. But I’m just so disappointed at the lack of challenges, unlockables and creativity put into some of the levels.
Norki21,
Inferior sequel
I still play the original Doodle Jump, so I was excited to get the sequel.

Firstly, the 5$ price tag for no ads, compared to the original’s 1$ full game is pretty steep.

Secondly, this game is about 10x more annoying and chance-dependent than the first. Beating your high score is more about luck than personal improvement, sure you can memorize the patterns, but some are very conniving. The game has a myriad ways of forcing you to jump into a black hole, from traps placed all around it, to springs and elevator platforms that send you directly into them. My second try at the rain level I got 5.4k score, which I’ve yet to get close to since, cause that run I happened to get reasonably lucky with the layout.

Lastly, where’s the stats screen? The first game had a great little stats screen with your personal statistics, averages, ways you died, etc. Seems like something a sequel could at least carry over, if not outright improve. Yet here, it’s just gone.

Overall the game is alright. I like the new challenges, platforms, etc. I don’t mind the star collection to advance in levels, actually. But the pure chance of some of these patterns is pretty frustrating. When someone like AWPrince, who scored 20million on the original DoodleJump is only getting 10x my score, I think it speaks volumes.
RichKlu,
Good, wayyyy too many adds
Very fun and addictive game. Every time I go on to this game, I always go for another high score. But, even if you got to 120, it’ll play an add of a game, that of which I would go to on the App Store, go to the reviews and find out it is garbage, laugh at the pure hypocrisy the game is, before going back to Doodle Jump. It’s getting pretty boring now with the adds of the games I couldn’t care less about. They should either make adds that appeal to the player or less adds. I know y’all made this game as an add farm and want to get as many bones as you can from this game, but you developers have a tendency of not giving a crap about the players and what they think, other than the times we come to you complaining about bugs that destroy gameplay. So, as a conclusion, more personable adds or less adds in general. Cheers
ProProgrammer296,
A Pointless Sequel
So, this really doesn’t do anything that changes up the core gameplay of Doodle Jump 1. If you played the first game, you played this. I don’t see any good reason for this sequel existing. I guess the new progression system to unlock new levels is nice, if a little grindy.

This app throws too many ads at your face. Every death = watch an ad. Even if you only survived a few seconds. It’s very annoying, and I often end up just turning off my internet so ads can’t load.

Lastly, I randomly lost all my stars (which you must collect a certain number of to unlock the next level), and if I collect new stars, restarting the app loses them again. I still have all my unlocked levels available, just no stars. I don’t know how such a simple app manages to bug out like this, but Doodle Jump 2 pulls it off.

I am thoroughly unimpressed. While Angry Birds 2 and BTD6 have drastically upped their game since their respective previous entries, nothing has been done here to modernize or expand upon the original game in any meaningful way. It’s like if Flappy Bird 2 came out and the only thing it added was a couple alternate level themes and the ability to change the color of the bird. It’s just… not enough to justify a full new game
