WHITE SPIRE AWAITS A LEADER...
A vertical metropolis of gambling and grit, just beyond the reach of Stonehall and Revtel; White Spire is known as a smugglers' paradise with loose morals and colorful residents to spare. Despite being overrun with syndicates, gangs, and secret societies, White Spire has never descended into chaos for one reason: Momma Eeb. She was respected… she was loved… and unfortunately, she was murdered last week.

Eeb’s death has sent one question rippling through White Spire’s underworld: who is going to run the city?

STRATEGIZE TO WIN: Recruit heroes and upgrade them into more powerful versions of themselves.

MIX AND MATCH: Each hero you recruit can form unique alliances. Stacking your team with allied heroes will unlock powerful bonuses that can crush your rivals.

UNDERLORDS: Choose from four Underlords to lead your crew to victory. Underlords are powerful units who fight on the field alongside your crew, and they each bring their own playstyle, perks, and abilities to the table.

CROSSPLAY: Play on your platform of choice and battle players across the globe in a hassle-free crossplay experience. Running late? Start a match on your PC and finish it on your mobile device (and vice versa). Your profile in Dota Underlords is shared across all devices, so no matter what you play on, you're always making progress.

RANKED MATCHMAKING: Everyone starts at the bottom, but by playing against other Underlords you'll climb through the ranks and prove you're worthy to rule White Spire.

TOURNAMENT-READY: Create your own private lobbies and matches, then invite spectators to watch 8 Underlords duke it out.

OFFLINE PLAY: Offering a sophisticated AI with 4 levels of difficulty, offline play is a great place to hone your skills. Pause and resume games at your leisure.

SEASONAL ROTATION: Every season we'll say goodbye to certain Heroes, Items, and Alliances to make room for new additions that will shape the ever-evolving world of Underlords.

canonblackwell,
Challenging but fun
I’ve seen a lot of one star reviews saying that it’s impossible to complete alliances or get three star heroes. The game is fairly easy to pick up and play but takes some time to learn its mechanics like gold economy, shared hero pool, leveling without waste, builds, positioning and item min/maxing. I’ve only put about 40 hours into the game so far, but like most competitive games out there it takes time to learn the strategies and make them work, but with time it becomes easy to build up the alliances you need or bring units to three stars.

The game has a great UI (much better than most other auto chess games out there) that really does a good job giving you the important info you need to know quickly while you are trying to buy new units between rounds. It’s also got a nice reward structure that makes it good to keep playing and building up new boards, banners, emotes, and win streak flames.

My only couple of gripes are that the meta is in flux all the time (which is understandable because it’s in beta) as they are trying to work on the balance. It also runs at a slower pace with lots of down time between rounds, rather than the quicker stride that some auto chess battlers like Teamfight Tactics has.
DerrickLe97,
Please fix it
Dear Developer Team
First of all, I would like to thanks the team who work extremely hard to bring us this big update that every player is looking for. But unfortunately, things didn’t go smoothly for this update. While we are all joyful for the update, with lots of thing to test out and learn, many of us has agreed that there are too many critical issues related to the game. These issues range from new item errors, new health bar that’s too big, heroes avatar, UI, mobile optimization, and many more. Personally, I think the old design really help the game express its uniqueness, so for the big update to work, it can just put on top of the old design, but that’s my own opinion about it. I rarely write a game review, but I hope you take this review seriously, work through the game carefully, and fix the issues that affect the players. We don’t want to rush you guys to bring out the big update, but we want that every big update is improving the player’s experience, not making them want to leave the game. I give 4 out of 5 stars as an encouragement for your effort, hope you can fix these issues soon!

Too small
After trying all of the auto chess games I could find this one is definitely the deepest. Played for weeks and still feel like I have barely scratched the surface. All the people complaining about not being able to finish alliances and level up characters don’t know how the game works. It’s a shared hero pool. So for instance if you and two other people have omniknight it’s going to be hard to get more because there’s a limited number split three ways. You have to check what other people are using and adjust accordingly. You can’t decide on a strategy before the game starts or even early on. You have to roll with what you get.

This is my favorite auto chess game on mobile (until Teamfight Tactics arrives) but since I have to play on an iPad it gets less play time than it otherwise would. I end up playing more Chess Rush just because I can actually see what’s happening in that game. And yes I have 20/20 vision. It’s just way too small.

Tl;dr 5 stars on iPad, 3 on iPhone because it’s too small to see what’s going on.
Napiorski,
Not for mobile and not strategy
This game is supported by Steam, Valve, and Apple; and yet there is already too many problems with this game. First off the game destroys your battery and the phone heats up every time I play for even half an hour. The game says strategy battler but all I get is an RNG market hoping I get what I want after knowing how the game is even played. Despite going any type of build in this game it’s always dependent on whether or not your market is in your favor. I understand the game is in beta but already in the long run this game isn’t set up correctly to be a “strategy battler”. I have the game kept just in case they do a major change or update, as I would like to see this game blow up and morph into something that’s a different and successful game. Even if everyone is dealing with the same stupid market it’s still just hoping you get what you want. It’s even more RNG than a deck building game. I would recommend not even touching this game unless you want to get raged at bots that somehow always have money and the right units they want in the long run of the game. Game needs too many tweaks and I am disappointed that this is the “new” game from Valve when they hardly do any work on their other games.

Best mobile game and great game in general
Had to delete it, there isn’t enough time in my schedule and it is addicting. Still, I would have loved playing this daily if I had the time so I will live vicariously through you.

There is a large learning curve, but it is worth the effort as you will find a complex strategy game with near infinite replay-ability. It is not really possible to exploit combos as you get different hero choices each game/battle and have to roll with it on the fly.

For beginners: you can play an untimed tutorial, and after that against AI until you figure things out. The game also lets you watch other players in your game, including after you lose (you can continue to spectate). Tip: pay attention to the hero’s clans (each has 2-3) and the synergy... if you don’t, you won’t have a chance at 1st place, after the first few ranks.
Beastmode2134,
Good but buggy
After spending some time with the game, I have to say that while it definitely can be fun, the bugs currently there aren’t worth it yet to switch over from the other main Auto Chess mobile game. That game may lack the detail and visuals of this game, and doesn’t have a bot mode, but the controls are easy to use and the UI in general is more friendly to those still learning Auto Chess. Though right now the main gripe I’m having with this game is the fact that anytime it goes out of memory on the phone, it wants you to download a fresh 450MB, and while I’m not certain if it is actually downloading anything(which would be terrible for those with limited data plans and aren’t on WiFi) it takes anywhere from 5-10mins to load, which is a bit frustrating.

Pros:
- visuals are really good
- items are easier to understand and use
- bot mode that lets you take your time, which is great when still learning the game

Cons:
- Loading game takes way too long and by the time it loads I don’t really want to play anymore
- UI is a bit complicated and takes time to get used to, even against bots
- Touch controls are off, when trying to drag or place, instead of being in the center of the square it wants you to be specifically on the bottom, which causes some inadvertent switching or misplacements.

For now I’ll be going back to Auto Chess mobile, but I am looking forward to this game getting many of its bugs worked out and coming to play again.
AngrydadnamedJay,
Solid game, unique style
I’m an old man that’s been gaming since Pong. In my life time I’ve seen the birth of first person shooters, RPGs, MORPs and every other genre imaginable. I’ve witnessed the death of the mall arcade and watched as consoles became more powerful gaming machines than desktop computers. Thought I’d seen it all... and then I downloaded this little gem! No pay to play! Have not spent a dime and been playing this now for weeks. I have not tried it yet against other peeps and still just enjoy fine tuning my strategies against the computer. It’s different. It’s free. I’ve enjoyed it. It takes time to learn and I’m sure I’m not even close to perfecting it. If you want some brainless swiping game or something to spend tons of cash on to make yourself feel good about yourself, this is not the game for you.

The excitement of an old dota player
Where do i start about this game, from the graphics, to the gameplay, to the gambler way that it provides. The game sometimes glitches when a unit is upgraded and it messed up my rythem a couple of times, but overall experience is great always updating the characters and changing alliances; to keep the game competitive and pleasurable for all. The different effects that are provided with leveling up your profile are amazing, and im excited to what the effect will be past level 25.
I recommend this game for all dota fanatics. Life got really busy and i cant play a dota game anymore but i can always find time to play a game or two of dota underlords, that bring my dota competitive feeling back.
BR,
Great game. Extremely laggy
I really like this game, especially in Knockout mode since I don’t want to waste 30-45 min to play just one single match.
I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a phone with a pretty fast processor, perfect for games. However, this game lags beyond playable state after I play 1-2 matches. Then everything becomes so laggy, you can’t even understand what’s going on in the game. On top of this, the phone heats up SO much. I’ve never seen ANY other application heat up my phone to this level. It becomes burning hot to the point where I can barely hold it in my hands. As soon as I quit the game, the phone quickly cools off. Once again, I’ve never seen any other games (and some of them had more graphics than Dota Underlords) lay my phone so much. It’s simply ridiculous. The game becomes impossible to play. If they fix this issue, I’ll change my rating to 5-star.
dallasapollo,
Worst Authentication I’ve Ever Seen
I’ve tried a dozen times now to set up a steam account through the app. I have a password app that manages my credentials for hundreds of apps. I buckled down to try and open a steam account, dedicating over half an hour of my life to this. And it defeated me. It’s impossible. Too many steps, too difficult to validate email, non-intuitive flow, too many captcha barriers, no clear instructions on password rules, not even the common decency of enabling copy-paste so I can add my password without typing it in. And for what? Evidently the app doesn’t talk to the web site because it all failed anyway. Pathetic piece of garbage. As a coder I’d be willing to bet money that some mid-level paranoid exec told the devs to throw every possible security or SSO SDK into this app and they were forced to crap on months of effort by building a login barrier so high that only the lucky or unemployed can get over it. Don’t waste your time on this steam-ing pile.
