Another lovely day and another technical update to make our app even better.
By the way, did you know that over 46 million tests have been taken since 1935. To say that that’s a lot of driving tests would be an understatement. No wonder driving test examiners are so exhausted! According to 2017 figures from the site GOV.UK, there are 32.9 million license holders in the UK. Of this number, 17.3 million are male and 15.6 million are female. Whilst the average driving test pass rate was an impressive 63% in 1935, it has since dropped to 47%.

Fun fact about Driving Theory for you:
Did you know? The UK driving exam has been altered drastically since it was first introduced 80 years ago. In May 1975, the use of arm signals was removed from the driving test. In April 1991, the reverse parking maneuver was introduced to the practical driving exam as a required element. In 2003 there was the introduction of the ‘Show Me/Tell Me’ aspect of the practical test where you are required to answer questions about features of the vehicle you’re driving.
Before the introduction of the UK theory test in 1996, examiners simply asked a series of Highway Code questions once a candidate had completed their practical driving exam. But, even if the candidate got the questions wrong they wouldn’t fail. Recording of bad answers was a minor fault. In 2002 the hazard perception element was introduced as part of the theory test to make it ‘more challenging.
