Description

DronePan 2.0 is better than ever with a new UI and functionality. A special thanks to Kilian Eisenegger for all his hard work and contributions to this project. If you have any questions about this version please join our Facebook group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/dronepan/

DronePan is free, open source, and makes it easy to capture panorama photos with your DJI Inspire1, Phantom 3, Phantom 4, Phantom 4 Pro, Mavic Pro, Spark and iOS Device. You can use the live FPV screen to fly to the appropriate altitude, frame your shot, and DronePan takes care of the rest. DronePan will take photos at the necessary yaw and pitch with your aircraft. The process takes less than 3 minutes to complete and you can then fly to another location to begin another panorama.

Keep your DJI drone within line of sight when using DronePan.

Update your aircraft to the latest firmware before using DronePan.

When you land your photos are ready to be stitched together with your favorite panorama stitching program. We highly recommend using PTGui or AutoPano Pro.

1.6
2017-01-19

- View camera settings: mode, aperture, shutter, ISO, exposure compensation

- Updated video previewer from SDK 3.3

- Video preview now full screen
1.5
2016-10-06
* Update to SDK 3.3

* Matrice shouldn't fail to yaw any more

* Phantom - if you've got +30 set instead of horizon this update should make the correct change to the config (the same as setting allow above horizon in DJI Go) - hopefully this will severely reduce the Phantom "Cannot set gimbal attitude" response
1.4.3
2016-08-31
- AEB (automatic exposure bracketing) support

- Support for sky row and max pitch

- Add low battery warning

- Add ability to keep info window present at all times (iOS System Settings App > DronePan)

- Increase max number of rows to 10

- Opt-in analytics. You'll be asked at start and can always change your mind later (iOS System Settings App > DronePan)

- Distances (distance/altitude) in metric or imperial units - toggle under settings
1.4.2
2016-05-09
- Update to DJI SDK 3.2

- Faster - we now react to the device saying "finished" instead of waiting long enough that we think it worked - so panoramas should go faster

- More stable - since we actually check for move completion and camera shot saved to disk - we should finally be over the missing shot bug - in fact it'll retry up to 5 times for each move and photo

- Osmo support

- Phantom 4 support

- Delay on start (Osmo) - your "get out of shot" time

- Choose number of photos in row

- Choose extra sky row (point the gimbal up to 30 degrees) - aircraft only (Osmo will always do it's full gimbal pitch)

- Small info window while capturing to show current values of yaw/pitch/roll

- Allow access to settings window when disconnected to get version and copy to log functionality
1.3.7
2016-04-11
- Support for custom yaw angles. The default is 60 and now you can select 45 and 30 degrees.
1.2.9
2015-10-28
- Introducing aircraft yaw feature to support Phantom 3

- Introducing aircraft yaw feature for Inspire 1 to capture 30 degrees up towards the sky

- DJI SDK 2.4.0

- Taking shots in vertical columns for aircraft yaw

- Improved video switching between DronePan and DJI GO
1.1.2
2015-09-11
- Gimbal retry logic

- Camera retry logic

- Less obtrusive status messaging

rwmcgeesr,
Happy Now
Phantom 4, iPad Air, latest firmware and software. App started then gave "can not adjust gimbal" and hung. Landed, calibrated gimbal, tried again with same failure. Joining FB group for support. Support group revealed issue with settings. It works as advertised. I do think when you choose the model the app should default to compatible settings.
mjbok,
Waiting for acceptance on fb group
It currently allows osmo to take pictures and videos, but immediately crashes when I try a pano from this app.
Smathermather,
Does not work with Mavic Pro
I can’t speak to any other platform, but it does not complete a sequence of photos on the mavic pro. Very disappointing.
wbw99,
Crashes with Osmo+
Crashes as soon as picture taking starts.
saeed_311,
Osmo
Please update it to use for Osmo.
iamdorian,
Great addition to the Arsenal! Free? 7 Stars
Just downloaded this new version anxious to try it out on my DJI Phantom 4. The functions I tried worked great. Used 8 (vs 6 default) rows when shooting, as it’s worth a little extra time to get the best spherical quality. Yet to use it to stitch, but so far, so good.

It is nice to be able to start the panoramic shot process and just let ‘er rip. I have had to visually monitor VRs before on a shot-by-shot basis, and never tried spherical shots (or at least 180º hemispheres, in the case of horizon=>down shots) because of the hassle of lining up that many rows. Now…no problem!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
chazzm,
Works for me!
I currently own a Mavic Pro, a Phantom 4 and a Phantom 4 Pro. I've used Drone Pan on all three of my Drones and other than a couple of times facing directly into the sun (forgot my camera hood) I've really had no problems with this program!!? Which makes me wonder under what situations the people who stated they had problems had?? The only time I had an issue was when DJI HAD A VERY buggy firmware update but that was corrected in a couple of days! I've made some very good shots with Drone Pan!
Nature is my Jam,
Does Not Work With Mavic Pro
I really wanted this to work but it doesn't take the photos. It looks like it is following a plan because it will rotate in a clockwise position but it does not take photos and gives an error that it could not complete the pano. What is encouraging is that there does not appear to be any drift during the session. My biggest problem with some of the auto panning apps is that the drone drifts all over the place, making the stitching process a major pain. I get that this is a free app and that it can be difficult to keep up changes from DJI but feel like I wasted time in trying to get this to work. Sorry.
nigbode,
Dressing
Couple nights ago after flying my phantom 3, I was dreaming what would be if there's an app which could do pano shoots automatically. Next day I was searching on the web and found dronepan.
It's great works near perfect, but more important, it looks like those guys take it serious to develop it to perfection.
Using the 20 takes in PTGUI works best. Most samples were stitched without any errors.
LukasTaurins,
Confused.
I used this app once so far, and when I did the app crashed and my P3S was stuck in the air. I had to grab the drone and take the battery out while it was in the air, luckily it wasn’t too high up. After taking off again I noticed it was not anywhere near as stable on either gps mode as it was before. The drone was also shaking and unstable. I’ll try again soon and see how it goes.
