Finally, a great beats metronome.
Finally someone made a polished app using drum beats instead of a basic metronome click. I’m a professional classical musician and while I’ll still need to get out the tempo advanced app every now and then to do more complex subdivisions, for everyday basic practice with a backing click for time keeping this app is WAY MORE FUN to use Fun = practicing longer. I’ve tried a bunch of apps trying to do this over the years but none came close to this. It’s easy to change beats, to hear samples, and most important to adjust the speed and pitch of the track. The pricing is reasonable and there’s a lot of great choices. Most important, the interface is silky smooth and polished which makes using it a breeze. A+ well done devs!
One suggestion: I purchased the 50 credit pack, but now I’m thinking I may want to get all of them. I wish there were a way to “complete your collection” at a discounted rate that totals the full price.l instead of having to pay for the full price in addition to what I already paid.

Better than my drummer
Drumgenius is fantastic! It’s very easy to find the loop you want from its large catalog; and the feel is awesome, I literally can’t stop jamming to it. The Drumgenius loops have a very human, natural feel--not mechanical at all. Much better than any drum machine; and frankly, it’s better than most drummers I’ve played with over that last 40 years!
As stated by many great musicians, such as Michael Breker and Pat Metheny, having good time is an essential skill for every musician. Play any notes you like, but phrase them well, and it sounds nice. Drumgenius is the perfect App to help a musician develop this vital skill of “good time!” Metronomes are fine, but Drumgenius is fun and educational. The diverse collection of awesome loops provides a fantastic practice tool for the serious Jazz improvisationalist, and the developer is extremely responsive. He responded to my question in less than 10 minutes! The software performs flawlessly, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing realism!
I am not a drummer. I am an amateur musician who wants to play against rhythmic backgrounds. DrumGenius was recommended to me by my professional musician friends — drummers and flute/sax players — as the best selection around for realistic drum loops. Instead of trying to pick and choose, I downloaded all 400. What fun! There is one rhythmic feel I can’t find in DrumGenius and I can’t find in other sources, and would love to have it available on DrumGenius. It’s a jazz feel — simple brushes in a swing style. You may not be a jazz drummer, but if you would check out Beegie Adair Trio’s style on The Good Life or Oscar Peterson’s Quartet, tune You Look Good to Me - you’ll get the idea. Second question, is there a way to export a loop from DrumGenius to an app like GarageBand? If that’s not possible, is there another way to think about how to write, for example, a duet with two flutes and have the drum loop for the background? Thanks so much!

Great app; would be great to use it live
This is the only really musical drum app I’ve heard. While many developers and manufacturers make drum pattern tempos adjustable over the entire metronome range, Mauro has chosen to limit the adjustable range to that which retains the authentic feel of each pattern. While some drum apps and machines have a huge number of patterns, most of which are musically unusable, ALL the patterns in DrumGenius are actually usable for practice or even performance.
IMO, one thing that would greatly improve the app would be the ability to start and stop patterns with a foot-switch, which would make DrumGenius practical for performance.

sure beats metronome; needs combining feature
I think this is a great app, i use it every day during my warm-up session on chord scales, the only thing I think could be added to this for little effort but huge benefit would be a way to combine the patterns so that we’re not just listening to the same two measures but rather have the ability to take three or four of the patterns and specify an order for them and maybe number of measures before it switches to the next one, that way no additional transcribing needs to be done but rather just a way to combine them and of course they would all be subject to the same tempo. Other than that I think it’s great and I’m glad it’s here and I hope you make a lot of money and make some good friends.

Great program and great customer care!!
I think this program is essential for any aspiring jazz musician, and recommend it to all my students. The samples sound great, and the variety of feels is astounding. I recently had to download it again for my new phone and had the kind of technical issues not surprising to a 60+ year old. I emailed my issue, got a very fast response and now I’m happily jamming away with the app. Bravo! If there was anything I’d change, it would be to add an optional metronome count-in when starting the loop.

Not So Impressed
I bought the full version of this app thinking I’d get all the flexibility I was hoping for. I have a good Internet connection at home. So I was surprised when I started previewing tunes the thing would just sit there and say “listening“. It’s pretty frustrating when you have hundreds of tracks at your disposal and find that it’s all but impossible to preview them efficiently. Guessing the server could use an upgrade. So then when I successfully downloaded a few I started to realize that songs that I know we’re sampled for only brief instance of the main groove. So whatever flavor you would expect from a song; you’ll be sorely disappointed when you find that the loop lasts 4 seconds. The app is great for ideas on odd time signatures. Live and learn.

Amazing feels
This is a great collection of beats - but more importantly the FEELS are fantastic. It is better than practicing to a metronome because it gives realistic sense of playing with a drummer - so you learn to match the feel as you learn to play in time. I have at least 10 different percussion programs I use for practicing and Drum Genius has quickly become my favorite because of the wide variety of styles, human quality of feels, and easy to use interface. My one request would be that it would be nice if I could export loops in wav format to use in recording.

Get this app
This app is a must have for anyone who loves to jam. Metronomes are good for getting very precise with your time, but this app prepares you for jamming with other people as the loop challenges you to listen and feel the groove. The loops sound AMAZING. They are very clear and natural sounding and some of the loops, like certain Latin and funk loops, just groove so hard. It really is fun to play along with. As the other review stated, (there really needs to be more reviews on this app) it’s nothing like a drum machine and is frankly better than a lot of the drummers I have played with. This is a great tool for serious musicians.

This might be my favorite app!
As a pro musician I can’t say enough about this app. It is a fantastic practice tool! Drums are superb loops with great feels and wide diversity of styles. I’ve had two chances to email customer support and the response was super fast and detailed as well as generous beyond expectation. The reasons for contacting support were not due problems with app but rather getting content back after restoring phone and question upgrading content. App has worked flawlessly for me.
