LEM6686,
Before and After
I started using the FIREcalc calculator and this forum four years before I retired and have continued using it 16 months after retirement. I think I will use it from now on. FIRECALC and the forum were my major support in making the decision to retire. I've learned about withdrawal methods from people who are do it yourselfers with real life experience. Every time I go to the forum I learn something new.
Covbro,
Excellent Source of Valuable Information
This has been one of the most valuable apps I've downloaded to my iPad. I've learned so much about investing for retirement and the process of transitioning into this phase of life. I read the forum everyday. I look forward to future software app update with new screen design for easier reading and navigating.
Oregontrailster,
A Forum Dominated By Spreadsheet Nerds
That's good as they are honest and data driven. What's not great is the heavy use of acronyms, many specific to the forum. Plus there are acronyms that are specific to the individual writer. Some posts require a translator. There really isn't any need for the use of many acronyms. Just use speech to text software.
Ghhgffg233,
Too much censorship
This app had a great potential to be helpful in planning for an early retirement. However, unfortunately the forum suffers from over moderation by a bunch of censors that are very much into themselves and censor not only anything even mildly political, but any criticism of the censorship itself as well. As a result the forum is nearly useless.
Tightasadrum,
A great online group, a great mobile phone app
I've enjoyed this online community for several years. I was very happy to find an app for my iPhone to check on the conversations while away from my computer.
There's an amazing depth of knowledge represented by the people who are active on this site.
ThatGirlMJL,
Excellent app for Forum!
Thrilled to find this app for my iPad! It works very well and I use it often to read various topics related to achieving financial independence and retire early. The posting function works perfectly and I think the design is easy to navigate. Download it!
M Paquette,
Oops!
The latest update is fairly flakey on the iPad 2. Some buttons along the top and bottom only work in certain device orientations. A few (like login!) don't work for me in any orientation. The usual tricks of force quitting, restarting the iPad, or deleting the app and its data and reinstalling don't correct this. (This "feels like" an uninitialized data bug, which often leads to behaviors that vary wildly from user to user.)

Prior updates worked very well, and I found the app faster to use than the web browser interface.
SM4456,
Great App
The information shared among the members has been very helpful. There has been decisions in my financial life that could have been made either way. This site has helped me think it out for what's best for my family
eoehms,
Nice layout
Much cleaner than the full site. Re: the dead spots on the Ipad, I was having this trouble as well but rebooted the Ipad and everything is working fine now.
G-M-B,
Problem with buttons in margins
Please fix the latest edition. I have to keep rotating my iPad to avoid the 'dead' sides of the iPad. This occurs ONLY on ER app!

The bottom and right edge of iPad don't recognize being touched. If you turn the iPad upside down the 'dead' areas move. This happens on my iPad 2 and iPad 3 - and only with this app!
