Description

EMT Academy is a thorough training guide and practice exam for EMT-Basic level EMS personnel. Pass your NREMT certification exam with flying colors, or keep your skills sharp long after you become certified. Written in the style of the NREMT certification exam using scenario-based questions based on current and latest EMS material.

There are flashcards, and there are flashcards. We’ve been at this since the Palm Pilot! Here are some advanced features that we provide, that set us apart from the competition:

—Questions are revised and updated multiple times per year; you can easily email a question to us for an explanation or comment
—Search for keywords to review a particular topic
—Some cards include full color illustrations; most include explanations when helpful
—Universal app that supports iPhone and iPads, screen rotation, and all the things you expect, including the iPhone 6's
—Cards can be bookmarked for quick access later
—You can go back and just look at the questions you missed
—Advanced score tracking keeps track of your progress daily, weekly, and monthly
—GAME CENTER support so you can play with friends, compete on leaderboards, and earn achievements
—There are no in-app purchases required to unlock the “real” app

NOTE: Some people post reviews (instead of emailing us) saying that our CPR is out of date because we mention "ABC". Our CPR guidelines clearly follow CAB. However, it's entirely appropriate to use the expression "check the ABC's" during assessment and this is widely used in EMS. It has nothing to do with the CPR sequence if that becomes necessary.

We believe in quality over quantity, yet we still provide OVER 1000 QUALITY MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS for EMT, with explanations, divided into these chapters:

--PREPARATORY--
EMS Systems
Safety & Wellness
Legal & Ethical Issues
Communications

Track your scores and progress along the way. We also provide over 300 "electronic flashcards" for another method of learning.

THAT'S OVER 1300 EMT QUESTIONS! But that's not all. We also include the EMS Toolkit, which many people find just as valuable as the practice questions. Here's what you get in the EMS Toolkit:

• EMS Scenarios - Practice in pairs or small groups with these step by step, ready made scenarios.

• CPR Reference - Updated for latest AHA guidelines using CAB, we provide a reference to the proper steps in CPR, test questions to prepare you for your annual recert, and even a audio metronome that tells you the proper cadence for compressions.

• NREMT Testing Tips - A summary of what you should know before taking the NREMT exam.

• Documentation Guide - Things to consider and document for most common emergencies. Also, a quick reference to those acronyms like OQPRST and DCAP/BTLS.

• NREMT-B Psychomotor Skills Exam - Practical exam checklists for common EMT-B skills so you can make sure you perform every step properly, exactly as spelled out by NREMT.

• EMT-B Skills Guides - We've also added "how-to" guides on how to perform key EMT skills like taking Blood Pressure and using an EpiPen.

• NREMT-B Recertification - This tells you what you need to do to recert (number of hours, categories, etc.)

aotongarcia,
Great studying app
This app has been very helpful for my EMT course. However it should be updated. Some information is outdated. Sometimes it doesn't give you the reason why it is the right answer. I am currently using the "Prehospital Emergency Care" 9th edition by Brady. Again it has been a very helpful study material once I finish reading a chapter and test myself. It'll be nice if they add a couple more chapters for the quizzes and add more questions to the quizzed.

ALS Rig EMT
Great app! I've been working 911 for 5 years and I still hit up this app whenever I have some down time. It helped my study group during class and continues to help me maintain the "way" you need to look at the job and your thought process. It does teach you how to look at a question and choose the "most correct" answer which is the way most of our tests should be approached. It has also given me those "oh yeah, that's right" moments...
Logan & Nicole,
Very good app for NREMT
Have recommended this app to multiple people
Clif On iTunes,
Not the best for EMT-B
As an EMT instructor, there are MANY problems with the information contained in this app. Lots of information and questions on the quizzes about things that are far outside the Scope of the EMT-B. Also, as many others have discovered, the CPR information is still old and out of date. I have worked with the authors on the environmental section in order to make it better; however the rest of the app's information has a long way to go before it's correct and able to be effectively used for anybody who is studying to become an EMT-Basic.
KDNKY,
Lots of bugs but very helpfull app
The app has a many, many bugs/errors in it. On a few questions the answers are not correct, others the answers display in an odd format or not at all, and on others the answer may not display at all other that a letter choice.
There is also a "Score History" section which is nice to have however the history on all previous quizzes displays the current date rather than the actual date the quiz was completed. They have quite a bit of work to do to make this anywhere close to a professional iPhone app.
Emt-bct,
Thanks
Thanks pretty much to this ap, I passed my Emt cognitive exam. I took the emt course over a year ago and never took the exam... Thought I had waited too long to even be eligible to take it. Then I found out I could take the cognitive up to two years after taking the course. I signed up. Downloaded this ap as a study guide, practiced everyday for a month and passed on the first try. Thank you to whoever created it!
mmcguin1,
Still happy
I'm loving this app, I had it since version 1.0. I did notice a bunch of typos in an earlier version but now it seems that everything has been fixed. Plus more stuff has been added. I like it when apps get updated for free! I also like it when the developer answers emails. Great study guide, not just a single answer, but multiple choice like the NREMT tests.
fuhuixing,
Best study tool I've found!
I am a RN in massachusetts going for my EMT-B and I really like this app. It's very user friendly. The quizzes are set up by topic- which is great for showing your areas of weakness. I would have given 5 stars, but my only dislike is that there are over 880 total questions and you cannot make a smaller over all review quiz.

Would highly recommend!!!
Jane2422,
Awesome
This app is amazing. My boyfriend was having trouble passing his emt national registry test. So we found this app and gave it a try. And after studying with this app for about 3 weeks, he took the test for the 5th time and finally passed. He said a lot of the questions on here are just like the ones on the test. It is deffinatly worth the money.
Dean11113485,
Too many flawed questions
While most of the quiz questions are correctly worded and useful for studying, there are enough with flaws to render usage very frustrating. Flaws include outdated content (including at least 2 questions that directly contradict the latest edition of Prehospital Emergency Care) and poor wording that renders multiple answers correct.

While the majority of this app's content is accurate and useful, EMS is a field with a very low threshold for error; thus only 2 stars.
