YourTurn is Erie Insurance’s rewards-based telematics program for drivers. The program is designed to incentivize good driving behaviors through rewards and provide advice on improving driving habits.
The program will allow drivers to track their driving behaviors using a mobile application and earn rewards that can be cashed in for gift cards or pre-paid Visa cards, or donated to charity! All just for displaying good driving behaviors.
The application determines how well drivers are doing by giving them a score based on their performance in the categories of phone distraction, speeding, acceleration, braking, and cornering – with higher-risk behaviors, such as distraction and speeding, weighted more heavily. Scores are captured and reset at the end of each two-week scoring period.

Excellent app!
This app is great for Erie auto insurance customers! If you’re a good, honest, safe driver, download and begin using it now! You get a payout every two weeks. It’s $5 if you score great (95+ I believe) and $2.50 if you’re pretty good (not sure about the score for this).
You tell the app when you’re driving vs passenger and it begins to pick up your driving habits, but you should still check it to make sure. I just logged in and had an 83 because it logged one trip as me driving when it was actually my husband. I was on my phone the majority of that time and it significantly dropped my score. By changing that one trip, I’m back to a 99. I try not to let anyone mess with my phone while I’m driving, but when I do let my daughter use it to control music or whatever, I use the “other” option because technically I am the driver, but I’m not the one on my phone. Then it doesn’t score that trip. The only thing that I don’t really like is the hard braking. It gets me on that sometimes. Lol I’ve also emailed about a couple times when the speed limit was wrong in the app and they’ve corrected it.

Great annual discount!
As an Erie agent and policyholder , I wanted to be among the first to test this app before I recommended it to policyholders. I’ve been very pleased with it, and love the gamification aspect of it. I try to do better to compete with others in my area. It isn’t nearly as overbearing as I was worried this kind of thing would be. I typically score in the upper 90s (out of 100) driving as I normally would. The only times I get lower scores are when I drive in big cities where you find yourself speeding well over the limit on the interstate just to stay with the flow of traffic. When I started using Apple Music in my car, I was concerned I’d get dinged for that, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue! I now strongly recommend this app, as I’ve gotten back around $120 per year in gift cards since it was rolled out in my state. My rates were already low but now considering the app-based refund no other insurer even comes close!

Awesome App
Love the fact that my good driving habits are being rewarded every two weeks. It’s not hard to slow down and not hit the break hard. Though I have to admit it was in the beginning, I finally settled in to good driving habits, and started getting rewarded. It has taken a bit of time to build up my account, but I have made it a game, and my husband and I challenge each other by looking at each others scores. He gets very upset when I keep my 100 or 99 score and he has dropped to 95. He’s a great driver but sometimes speeding will take over and he loses sight of the big picture.
Not only are we being rewarded for good and excellent driving habits, we also are saving on gas. With prices back at $3.55 a gallon I find my gas gauge doesn’t go down as fast.
I encourage those who want to make some extra money that will be put on a gift card, and to save on gas, try this out! It’s well worth it!!!

Driving behavior app
This application is very sensitive to how a person drives to the point that you will drive like the people that complain about going too slow or at a steady pace that may have driven you crazy as you would complain that they are driving too slow but in reality they are using far less gas and getting to the destination not much later as going only 5 miles over the limit verses 10 miles an hour shortens the drive a very small fraction of the time on the highway and avoiding hard braking or cornering saves wear and tear on the car.

Love Hate Relationship
I loved this app at first. It definitely made me pay attention to my driving habits and be more cautious. My score was 97-99 forever. Free money for driving safely? Heck yeah! However, recently my score has been at 89, conveniently 1 point below what is needed for a reward. My driving habits have not changed at all, but the scoring has gone down tremendously. I get dinged every drive for harsh braking, acceleration, or cornering. Some examples: harsh braking 6mph in 3.9 seconds. Acceleration 11mph in 2.3 seconds. Cornering 33 degrees at 15mph. The phone usage gets annoying at times too. I never use my phone while driving. I wish the app would be able to determine when parked. I pick my kids up at school and a 5 second text that says “I’m around back” while parked gets marked every time. Yes, you can choose “other” which deletes the drive but I’d need to delete them on an almost daily basis. The app WAS good and fairly accurate but it seems the latest update makes it grade unfairly thus no reward is paid out.

I like seeing the results from my drives - distance etc. But I think it is pretty confusing when I see a loss of a star for braking and cornering. Often times braking is just defensive driving and totally necessary to avoid an accident. And cornering is very confusing. Some corners are at sharper angles than others. Not all streets cross each other at perfect 45 degree angles. It really doesn’t make sense to me.
One thing I have to remember is that when I am a passenger to indicate that because not everyone drives within the speed limit. And when I am driving sometimes my sister is holding my phone and ready directions. Then I lose stars for distraction even though I am not the one holding my phone. That is really irritating.

Great rewards, accurate
I love the rewards given through the app, and it does a decent job of sending and rating driving. My only improvement would be an option to indicate someone else is using my phone while I am driving (like the copilot or my children trying to find a podcast). Right now the only option I have is to take a bad rating for cell phone use or to indicate I’m a passenger if someone is using my phone. Thanks Eerie!

Can I get some help, please
I started driving a few months ago, and my dad is an Erie agent so he thought it would be a good idea to use this tracker, so I could get a few extra bucks, so I’ve had the app for about a month now, and I’m getting confused. So I was talking to my dad asking how am I suppose to get the rewards, and he told me under the score button, there was a rewards feature, so I go on my phone and nothing was there, so I look around and nothing. I reinstalled the app, to see if that would fix what ever is going on, and nope, same screen, so now I’m confused and want to get the reward, if anyone could help me, I’d appreciate it. But this the only thing bad about the app, also it’s not the most accurate speedometer and same thing with the hard braking.

Love Earning rewards and Learning how I drive
So at first I was skeptical and unsure about using this app…”the something is new and unknown feeling” , however I am definitely Learning about it and getting use to it . I am finding that it is actually a lot of fun learning how I drive and who doesn’t love positive reinforcement with achievements levels and rewards. I definitely recommend giving it a try and don’t get held back by the unfamiliar, it might surprise you.

They should list the scores for rewards
I haven’t had issues with the app itself. I think it’s a great concept and fun to see how well you can do.
However, there is no where that lists what score you need to earn rewards. The first 2 weeks I got the full amount then I after that I got half and none in the last month. It doesn’t make sense bc my score hasn’t gone down.
It’s not a good program if they don’t give you goals to reach with specific rewards at each level. Especially when I haven’t earned anything in a month. I would think they would say “if you earn 90% or above you get the full amount If you get between 80-90% you get half . “
