Description
ESCAPE-pain is an evidenced based, rehabilitation programme for people with chronic knee or hip pain, commonly known as osteoarthritis. The programme is hosted by Orthopaedic Research UK and supported by NHS England. The programme delivers the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) core recommendations of exercise and education for the management of osteoarthritis.
This app was developed in conjunction with physiotherapists to bring the ESCAPE-pain programme to more people.
The app provides users with a structured education and exercise programme of 12 sessions over six weeks.
The 6-week programme provides:
- Engaging animations, giving simple advice and information that helps you learn how you can help yourself cope better with the effects of joint pain.
- Short quality HD videos show you how to perform simple exercises, removing the guesswork of whether you are doing the exercises correctly, and help you become more active.
- The ESCAPE-pain app is innovative and visually engaging, helping to keep you motivated and tracking your progress and exercise completion. Supporting you to feel empowered and in control of your recovery.
