Ryry1980ny,
Good but needs more functionality
The app is ok. Provides meal plan/recipes however during challenge it would be nice to be able to track your additional calories within the app. Having to use MyFitnessPal in conjunction with the challenge app is annoying and time consuming. Also a macro tracker would also be helpful. I think it would help more people be successful during challenges. Also in terms of recipes, it would be super helpful if a final portion size was given after everything is cooked. My husband and I cook in bulk since we are both doing the challenge together and we really are just guessing our portions. I cannot make each portion separately, it is not possible with a full personal schedule. Small changes and the app can become killer.
DCA_Scooter,
Does NOT work during quarantine
I signed up for this after seeing an ad about how you can still achieve results while staying at home during the COVID pandemic. But this challenge does not work if you can’t attend actual classes and push yourself there. The rest of this thing— the detoxing, the diet, home workouts & stretches, etc. do not give you any benefits than simply being conscious of what you consume and getting some movement into your day. Of course, I’ve heard that men’s bodies respond differently, but for women this workout is a lot of hassle and sacrifice for nothing. Our bodies are designed to store fat, so without really being able to push ourselves at in person workout classes, this challenge delivers nothing whatsoever. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY THE MEALS. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AF, TASTE HORRIBLE, NO FLAVOR WHATSOEVER, AND THEY DO NOT HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS OR FAT BURNING. You don’t even need to buy from their ridiculously extensive shopping lists, if you’re preparing meals yourself. Just be food conscious: portion control, don’t eat sugary/fatty foods, don’t eat too late in the day, extra protein, etc. You don’t even have to cut out coffee or alcohol— just make sure you factor them into your daily caloric consumption.
Aschmutt,
Ok, some enhancements would make it better
Great app for participating in the challenge. After the last update i am experiencing a lot of issues with the app reloading and kicking me out of the eating section when I am trying to meal prep or review the recipes. It is quite frustrating.
Also feel the tracking needs a lot of improvements to at least be able to track macros.
Overall the recipe library is helpful. Integration with shopping apps would also be nice to see.
Also would like to see more customization for personal goals.
Overall, a good app that meets some needs but needs some improvements to make it better.
ohohkaitlynnn,
Great app
This is a great app if you are an “in studio” member or not. When I was doing the workouts in studio, I loved having access to hundreds of recipes which really helped me with fat loss and also having the workouts on the go if I was on vacation.
Currently, I don’t train in the studio (too far away), but being able to have all of the workouts to take with you anywhere is great. I also like that they have weighted and non-weighted versions of each workout.
My only major flaw about this app is the music they set with the workouts. F45, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put better/more relevant music to the videos. There are so many times that I don’t have half the motivation all because of the music.
ysulliv,
Updated but not necessarily for the better
Pros:
- Train: variety of workouts are now available through app—This is awesome!!
- Track: Stats ability to log
- Eat: Live portal to check off shopping list items (bigger con listed below)
- Learn: variety of interest articles/blogs

Cons:
- Track: With the new update all my stats were deleted :-( The Lionheart integration is a joke. Gives you an overall since day 1 stats and not each workout—the emailed graph is more useful at this point. There is no ability to track food calories or nutrition, you just check you followed meal plan.
- Eat: Before, there was the ability to print the meal plan for current week and the next week and we no longer have that ability. You must select each day and print the recipe—with a lot of leg work to do so. I like printing the weeks so I can be more realistic with ingredients and meals. Some of the meal plans are a bit unrealistic and definitely not utilizing the amount of ingredients you must purchase for the recipes.

I like the app and hope they are going to continue to update and integrate what is useful for the user. While they made some great changes they still have a lot more to improve upon!
JLearman74,
Lots of typos in recipes
For the most part, I’m super positive about F45, the challenge, and the recipes in this app. However, there are quite a few mistakes. For example, the Thai Chicken meatballs call for carrots in the meatballs. At first I was like, well that’s not right, then I was thinking... well, maybe they’re a way to make a hearty meatball less calorie dense. So, I made my meatballs with hard chunks of carrots in them, and then noticed later in the recipe that it says to steam the carrots with the broccoli and cauliflower. It also says to add “kefir leaves” to the coconut cream, when kefir leaves aren’t in the ingredients, nor in the shopping list.

In the end it’s not the worst, but I wish they’d have someone proof read these recipes. They also need to adapt the recipes for an American audience... barramundi isn’t found here. And we don’t call bell peppers capsicum ;)
123456zyx,
Great app to access tasty, healthy meals
Great app overall because I can access current and past tasty, healthy meals designed by nutritionists; helpful when you want to lose weight and maintain and offers easy access to both meat and plant-based meals (even distinguishes between vegetarian and vegan). My only issues with the app involve the lack of effort to make the app more interactive beyond the search feature and toggling between different food preferences- for exp, I wish I could bookmark favorite recipes for later easy retrieval and rate recipes. I also wish F45 would add photos of the recipes rather than stock photos from the web
AdrienneIsBell,
App is great, but the photos are terrible
I love that this app is thought out so well, and is free. It’s nice to have such a detailed meal plan, and grocery lists. But I hate the photos they choose for the meals because they aren’t accurate. Today it’s showing a picture of 2 pieces of smoked salmon on some sour dough bread with cream cheese and parsley, but the recipe has no cheese whatsoever, or creamy anything, on 1 piece of gluten free bread, with mint and tomatoes. It does this all the time! The photo needs to represent what you’re eating!!! At the very least so I can glance at it and know what to get out of the fridge before I start cooking. It’s annoying...
Ddryja,
New App-Missing one important piece
Have been very pleased with the new F45 app. Love that it’s a one stop shop and eliminates the use of multiple apps. I wasn’t able to give it a 5 star review because I believe it is missing one important piece. Member class total count. On the old F45 training booking app, members could see how many classes they have taken. With the new app they cannot. Hopefully this is something that is already in the works to create for a better overall experience.
KronnHunter,
Does not play well with others
F45 is a decent workout but there are three different apps, including the lionheart monitor app, and they do not work well together. I have gone through countless password reset loops because one app says to use the credentials of another and there is no tech support. The developers put very little effort into creating these apps. Additionally, they have lots of trackers on their website. I don’t know what they’re tracking but a cookie should suffice. One tracker I could understand but they have like 13. Blocking the trackers results in the inability to login to their site. The workouts are decent though.
