Face.DJ allows to create an accurate 3D model of the face in 2 seconds using only a single photo, made by the camera of mobile device. User can put his 3D model at the body of the robot and upload it from the application straight to social networks – Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
How does it look technologically?
Face.DJ produces a 3D selfie in three steps:
1. It employs face landmark detector to find prominent facial parts such as eyes, lips and nose at the photo.
2. Then it customizes a 3D model of the face, tailoring it to the individual facial shape of the person. This is done by using a deformable model of human face.
3. Finally, it maps the texture from the photo onto the 3D model.

Doesn’t recognize my face NO MATTER WHAT!!!
I was excited to find this to then be even more disappointed! No matter darker lighter background straight no expression, taking the photo or up loading one with a black background photoshopped it won’t recognize it. Conclusion this is a scam....

Give us more stuff!
Pretty fun and accurate app, but there’s not a ton of options. Especially now that they got rid of the robot body. Why is my disembodied head in the center of a golf field? Can she go anywhere else? Can she have a robot body again? Can she have more accessories? My disembodied head needs more opportunities to go places and look cute.

Lots of potential, not very useful yet
I think this is a really cool concept and it has a ton of potential to be awesome, but it's extremely limited functionality right now. It would be super cool to have a larger selection of body/hair and accessories.

Interesting, but not much you can do with it...
This is an interesting app. It's more of a showcase for the technology, vs anything really useful or fun. It is interesting to be able to make a fairly good 3D avatar from a selfie, you can't export it to do anything with it.
As a showcase, it's kind of missing some fun stuff. It has some pretty lame "bodies" and "hair styles". Being able to swap in different, realistic hairstyles for example would make this more interesting.
As a note, I have a beard, but because it only takes 1 angel, it cuts off the beard.
