***************

Family Tracker allows you to track your wife, husband, children and fiancée. You can now find out where they are, at anytime, as long as they have their phones with them. Family Tracker is available for other platforms as well, so you can track (and be tracked by) other devices as well - check our website for more details.

Please note that starting with the new iOS4 and supported hardware, Family Tracker runs in the background at all times, and, unlike previous versions of Family Tracker, user intervention is **NOT** needed for you to track them. Family Tracker runs at all times, continuously updating the GPS location of the device. Even if the iPhone is rebooted, Family Tracker will automatically resume tracking and updating its position!

So how does this work?

Simple. Install Family Tracker on the iPhone/iPad you want to track. From then on, you can use either a web browser or via the Family Tracker app itself installed on your own iPhone/iPad to locate your family member.

If the device you wish to track does not support multitasking (for example, older iPhones 3G, iPads), you can still use Family Tracker to locate the family member. Using the web or your own iPhone, you will be able to "ping" the other iPhone. This is done by sending the other iPhone a (free) “Apple Push Notification” which will cause an alert to sound on your family member’s iPhone, even if the phone in is stand-by, just as would happen if the iPhone receives an SMS. As soon as this alert is acknowledged, their GPS position will be recorded, and their location will be updated on a map. If you are using an iPhone yourself to track them, you will be sent a Push Notification to inform you that the family member has accepted your "ping". These notifications will be automatically re-sent every 60 seconds until they are acknowledged. If the recipient is trying to ignore them or does not hear them, this repetition will help acknowledging them.

Family Tracker does not need to know your iPhone cell number to function, as it does not send SMS messages for notifications. Your email address is instead used to send free Apple Push Notifications to the iPhones being tracked. These notifications are free, specific to our Family Tracker application, and work anywhere in the world as long as the iPhone and/or iTouch being tracked has internet access via the cellular network or WiFi.

Notice: ***Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.*** For this reason, we strongly recommend users to configure Family Tracker to use the "Driving Only" accuracy in the GPS setting. This special mode updates the GPS location only when a significant location change occurs, which results in a tremendous gain in battery life.

Additional pro features, such as the ability to see the past locations for the previous 2 weeks, and the ability to set geofences so you are alerted when users that you track enter or leave certain areas are available via an optional iTunes subscription.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your iTunes account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions are available for either $1.99/month, or $5.99/3 months, or $9.99/6 months or $19.99/year. Privacy policy & terms of use: http://logsat.com/family-tracker-privacy.asp

dataguy1,
Needs more GPS flexibility
First, let me say that this is a brilliant idea. I've been looking for a way to track my iPhone if I ever leave it somewhere or it's stolen. Moble Me is not a good value if you only want location tracking. It's also potentially good for keeping tabs on family members (though I don't care for the description of the app on LogSat's website...makes it sound too much like you're spying on a family member you don't trust).

Anyway, I love that the latest version for iOS4 has background GPS because it's unlikely that pinging an unattended or stolen phone is going to get an acknowledgement. But it definitely is killing my battery, even when the option is set to "Driving." I can't make it even 12 hours from full charge to low battery anymore. I'll agree with the others that it would be nice to be able to turn off the GPS, but even better, I'd love to see a periodic timer (15, 30, 60, 120 minutes?) that attempts to take an accurate GPS reading. Heck, make it an option...always on or timed.

It has promise, but I'm going to have to remove this app from my phone until it doesn't kill my battery.
chantalandmiguel,
Love the app
Years ago there were some problems with the app running on iOS7.0, but the developers had informed us that iOS 7.0 itself had a bug, and that even Apple’s Find My Friends app was not working right. Since we upgraded to newer iOS the app works great, I can track my boyfriend when he’s riding his bike across the state, and I always know where he is. I love the app.
TheiPhoneJunkie,
Been using it for over two years. Great upgrades
Well worth the money. Simple, and it works. Can track my wife’s iPhone and my kids’ Androids. Been using it for over two years, and the new version for iOS10 and higher and with geofencing rocks.
DiPippa_Damian,
DOES NOT WORK!!!
Absolutely useless. I played with every setting on this and it would not consistently update locations. Then downloaded Life360 and it worked great so I know it’s not me or my phones. I basically lost $24. I asked for a refund but I have little hope of getting it.
Ownage man,
Worthless App
Worthless app - cannot get the email verification step to work.

Used this app a long time ago on a different phone and it worked okay - not the case anymore

Does not work
When I push the contact button to add a contact the app closes. When I asked for a refund they gave me a procedure that does not address getting a refund.

Fraud
Doesn’t do what was promised. Doesn’t show history despite shelling out more for the pro subscription. Ignored request for tech support. Spend your money somewhere else.
KLiney25,
Good idea, but poor performance
The makers of this app should give a more realistic description of what this app does. For me, the gps ONLY worked when I would send an alert to the other person. Otherwise, the notification would tell me that the last update woul be from as much as 16 hours ago. What good is that information? If that person is busy or their phone is off and they don't receive the alert then it's pointless. As well, the gps would show me the person was in a bayou or at the hospital! I swear I'm not making this up. I actually had to call to make sure they were okay.
On the customer service side, they were very prompt in responding to my concerns about the performance. I repeatedly checked all of my settings on our phones to make sure they were set correctly, but it never worked.
In the end, this app is inaccurately described and a waste of money. Life 360 is free and reportedly works better, so I'm switching to that.
_NSFW_,
Solid
I find this app works as advertised - my wife and I both have it installed so we can see where we are during the day, especially useful if the person is in a location where they can't answer the phone or perhaps can't hear it ringing (bottom of a purse for example).

Driving Mode works well keeping the battery usage under control although I would like it to do a little more transmitting once it knows a tower has changed so that the final "accurate" fix is more reliable - when my wife is coming home it often tells me she has stopped a half mile away hours after she has walked through the door.

Perhaps it needs to offer a "hybrid mode" to provide accurate GPS fixes for longer after a tower change to have a better chance of pinpointing the final destination before powering down the GPS? If this comes at a few % battery usage a day I think it's worth it.

Also an option to ask the GPS to switch on and report accurately ("on demand") would be nice through a notification that doesn't require user acknowledgment, or failing that a user controlled option to decide how often the GPS transmits accurately between tower changes in Driving Mode would be a good tradeoff of precision vs battery usage. I imagine once an hour wouldn't be too costly?

Why not let the customer decide on the right balance for them?

Anyway, 4 star app today, hopefully 5 stars after next update - keep up the good work!
Subbedout,
Seems to work as advertised
I installed this app for me and my wife last night. After 6 attempts to get our activation emails, I was beginning to doubt this app. Despite following the instructions to a 'T', still no luck. I emailed their customer service (around 11 pm EST) and was shocked to get a response within 30 minutes! Long story short, if you're using MS Outlook as an email client, you have to add Family Tracker's corporate email to your safe sender list in Outlook AND on your email provider's website. For me, I had to manually log into gmail and check SPAM folder for my activation email. Now knowing this, I would have gone info gmail first and just added to safe sender list there. Other than that, app works great between my wife's phone and mine. I'm waiting to see how battery life lasts though, so I don't have enough data to share yet.
