Sullyhogs1,
Great game.... with a huge bug.
This version of the game introduced me to Fez, and I’m currently going through my second playthrough on my new iPhone XR. I originally played it on my previous phone, the iPhone 6, which was a very flawed, yet suitable machine. When playing Fez on that phone, however, I encountered no bugs or glitches whatsoever, but on my new phone, a giant bug stares me in the face every time I play: I can’t see the map.

Now I’ve heard that this glitch is triggered by going back to the village right after the floating cube thing introduces the map feature to you once you leave the village for the first time. This actually happened when I first tried playing this on my new phone, so I made a new game and didn’t go back to the village when the floating cube told me about the map. I played for a while and then stopped after an thirty minutes or so. The next day, I was feeling sick, so I stayed home. After waking up from a nap, I booted Fez up again on my phone, but lo and behold, there wasn’t a map on my screen. This is something that’s needed, or else I’ll just get lost and not realize what path I should focus on and what rooms and areas have secrets in them. Please fix this bug, it’s gonna drive me crazy if it isn’t, and I really want to beat this game again. Fez is the greatest indie game ever made, and I just hope others can experience it in the way it was meant to be played, and without a game-shattering bug staring them in the face.
AnonWoWplayer,
A wonderful game, an odd change.
This game has the player explore and ponder each and every crevice of this amazing, and yet challenging world. The amount of playability and discovery in the game is astonishing! So it was an obvious purchase to make once I saw it on the App Store.

However, as I understand the game as I had played it on PC, the iPhone version seems to be lacking of usability. It can be hard to use the controls on such a small device (which can be fixed with iPhone game controllers), but it’s harder to see the small, and beautiful, details that can be vital for a full play through of the game. So I hope to see a way to zoom in the level! I also witnessed a few bugs, but as the game constantly saves, it’s not too bad to just restart the app.

This game is a must-have! Don’t let the negative aspects draw you away from this game; the port isn’t perfect, but the game is! If you haven’t played it, I highly recommend you do, some way or another!
EJ_D,
Full game seems to be a good port
I must have missed this game in the past but browsing some gaming sites today I saw it was released for IOS and the reviews gushed about the console versions. In terms of gameplay I would suggest looking up some reviews on other platforms. They are all excellent. I have played for an hour or so and it is really engaging and makes you think differently then other platformers. It’s a great concept. What I usually want to know about these types of ports is how do they play on an IOS device. I loaded it onto my iPad Pro and it runs great as you would expect. More importantly based on the relaxed pace of play the touch controls are actually not a bad way to play and there is really no penalty for death. You just start back from right before you fell. That being said I have an mfi controller and it makes this experience just about perfect. I won’t go into a gameplay review as that is well covered by doing a google search but I figured I would let people know it appears to run and control very well on a recent iPad.
Muffin_gmx,
I was far and all was deleted, still gets 5 stars from me!
However, regardless of my misfortune, my rating is about the game. Also, to be fair, I may have closed the game while it was saving. That is only speculative as I personally have no way of telling why that occurred. I’m starting the game over, which is a bit frustrating. On the flip side, I already know how to play the game and am completely and totally adjusted to its controls. This is a really great game. I’ve played games that are a little bit similar in terms of adjusting the perspective, but none have made any type of good impression on me. I was nervous to get it for that reason. I was very wrong in thinking that. Immediately I realized that this is definitely it’s own game, and a rad one at that. Thanks for everyone’s hard work. You have brought so much joy(and a bit of frustration, jk)to many people. No complaints except for losing my my progress, but like I said, it could’ve been operator error so zero hard feelings.
simX,
Great game, a few annoying glitches
I’ve been following Fez for a while, since it was originally shown in a video around the internets 5 or so years ago. Really excited it’s come to iOS, and it’s a really immersive game! I love the storyline, graphics, and gameplay, it’s all great! I haven’t played it on iOS with a physical controller, though, so it’s still subject to those annoying times when your fingers drift off the virtual controls. Luckily, though, Fez is very forgiving — you just return to where you were before you died!

There are a few things it would be good to see improved:

- sometimes the map button just doesn’t appear. There’s no rhyme or reason to why. Force quitting the game and relaunching usually fixes it.
- the iCloud save slot does allow porting saved games across devices, but it is woefully inconsistent. Many times it doesn’t actually sync to other devices. The best way to fix this is to copy your iCloud save slot to another slot, and then copy that back to the iCloud slot. That seems to make the slot be saved to the cloud.
- it would be really nice if we could see a history of dialog somewhere. I got to a special room, and accidentally tapped through a line of someone saying something. Did I miss anything important? I don’t know! :(

But overall, really great port of the game to iOS! Love trying to solve all the mysteries of the pixelverse!
Alastair (age:9),
The mind bending masterpiece that is FEZ.
FEZ is one of the greatest indie games I’ve played, along with Creaks by Amanita Design (The creators of Machinarium) because it is so much more than it appears to be. And you might be thinking that’s because of the 2D perspective in a 3D world, but no. I found this game when I was eight years ild and my dad had bought it for me, and I had never heard of it. so I got around what I thought was halfway through the game and FEZ seemed like a really good platformer with a unique combination of 8-bit pixel art, but not in a retro way + an amazing soundtrack.

Warning: Very minor spoilers ahead

Then I picked up this game again a few months ago and I got the bad ending. That’s when I started realizing that there was a lot more about the world of FEZ than I anticipated

Warning: Minor spoilers

When I thought I had beaten the game, I’d realized I was only halfway done. And then I realized the amount if secrets I missed. And I’d also realized I never found out how to read or translate the strange symbols I’d seen throughout the game. So many unanswered questions.

Now that I have the answers to these questions, I just wanna say this game just got 100x cooler than it already was. I hope more people get to solve these mysteries on their own. This game is worth way more than $5
BearKiddy,
Worth Way more than 5 stars
First, let me explain something, this game has been teased since 2012... let that sink in for a minute. This game supports iOS 8... yeah, since 2012, which means that if you buy an iphone x, your most likely not going to be supported BUT anything a year old and back is supported. This is common sense
Now for the game.
Controls, intuitive. No nonsense and they feel lovely once you get the hang of it. If you play any mobile game with your thumbs flat on the screen, your playing mobile games wrong.
Graphics: honestly, the best in an 8bit influenced BUT not retro but modern take is just superb. For a title teased from 2012 this is mind blowing for a phone.
Sound: when disasterpeace was asked to make the soundtrack, i didnt know who this was. Immediately i fell in love and even bought the album. I was a half a year into marriage and it made my wife upset but I listened to that soundtrack for weeks. To hear it blasting from my phone with Apple’s “stereo sound” is amazing
All in all, for the price of this game, its a definite buy. Don’t be bothered by these silly one star reviews. Buy this amazing title
Remember this: theres still one puzzle left that no one has solved yet
Wickedcor,
Great port, wobbly controls.
I love this game. I wish it were even longer, with more areas and more puzzles. Maybe double the length? Triple? I dunno. It’s a great game, with a great concept. But I do have one complaint: the controls are a little off. The up and down arrows for some reason always make me drift left in addition to what other direction I’m trying to go. This makes it difficult for jumping straight upwards. Jumping down is a pain too. I have to tap the down arrow multiple times just so it registers that I want to go down. The jump button is a little glitchy too. It’s responsiveness varies.

21 Feb 2021 Edit: Keeps crashing. iPhone XR. Crashes when listening to audible or apple music.
Arg0ld,
Help
I genuinely love this game. This phone version is a nice way of playing the game outside a console. I just have a problem. I entered a room with a totem and I can seem to be able to rotate it even though there's a handle. I know how to solve this puzzle because of the console version, but it's not working in the app. I also can't contact support. Help?

Update: I restarted my whole game and the totem room still doesn't work. I contacted Polytron two days ago, but they still haven't replied to my emails

Final update: I don't know if I did anything differently this time. I just left the room, entered it again, and now it works. Thanks everyone for at least reading this. Hopefully no one else will have this issue.
Joshua D.,
The Original is Still the Best
Fez, is the original creation that so many other titles like, Monument Valley, copied...uh hmm, were inspired by, hehe. And I'm just so glad to finally have the originator on my i-Devices!

So far, I've found that it's just as brilliant as I remembered it to be on my consoles. The graphics and gameplay are top-notch in my opinion and so is the sound design I think. I also believe that the control scheme for Fez functions perfectly on a mobile platform.

I'm so grateful for the developer bringing this superbly entertaining and creative game to iOS. And I know I'll be spending countless hours in here from now on and that just makes smile big time. Thanks again for this pocket edition, God bless and Merry Christmas 😇🎄🎅🏻👍🏻.
