The Fin App is the newest way to provide surfboard and SUP rentals. The Fin App acts as a key to unlock surfboards and paddle boards and keep track of rental duration. Surfboards and paddle boards can be located on Fin trailers which are designated on the map inside of the Fin App. Once a trailer is found with available boards simply create an account and add a credit card for payment. Once your information is on file press the unlock button to bring up the camera. Each board is locked up with a bluetooth padlock. On the back of the padlock there is a 2D barcode. Scan the 2D barcode with the Fin App to unlock and begin the rental. To end the rental return the board and lock it back up. A rental charge will be calculated on the time of the rental and will be automatically charged to the card on file. A receipt will be generated and emailed to the email address on file.

Very cool and very convenient
I used the app for the first time today, and wow! It’s very cool and very convenient. The app is a bit slow to respond, so just be patient and it will work. I’m sure it will only get better as time goes on. It’s still a very new idea, but as a concept it’s an excellent way to rent a paddle board. The location was only one block away from the bay and the board is lightweight enough for one person to carry. I’ll be renting a board a lot more in the future and hope more locations are added after more people find how easy and affordable it is to rent a paddle board in San Diego using Fin Aquatic Rental.
