NonstopRug,
Good but could be a bit better.
1. I agree the shame is way too difficult for the classic game. It ramps up too fast and there aren’t nearly enough opportunities to match 4 to get the extra +1 powerups. The game should start with a bit high of a move count say 4-5 that way we have the ability to move things around and if things start to go off the rails it’s our job to keep them on track and not trap ourselves. Or decrease the amount levels you have to bed to rank up. Or increase the amount you gain when you complete a level. OR all three. As it stands it doesn't take long to trap yourself and if you do you have to start ALL THE WAY BACK to the beginning of the rank. The dev shouldn’t add a new mode that’s easier, they should adjust the CLASSIC mode to be more approachable. 2. Personally, I believe when you beat a level the puzzle should reset. This alone would help make the game more approachable. 3. There’s a bug in iOS 17 where sound just stops playing in classic mode for no apparent reason. 4. Picking your skin should remain in settings only and not be asked every time we start a new game. It’s kind of annoying. I want to set it and forget it.
NormTheWorm,
Fun but Challenging
I’m having a great time with this game; it’s wonderfully designed and incredibly engaging. The game builds upon itself beautifully and was obviously crafted with care. The tempo mode is amazing, and I can’t wait for the next song update. But the part of the game where you’ll spend most of your time is the classic mode. What starts off as simple swiping quickly becomes a challenging puzzle with new rules and abilities that make you think about each move. It does become very challenging after rank silver ii. Finity is a fun game that’s easy to pick up, but the classic mode definitely needs some rebalancing and the results screen could use some streamlining. Otherwise, a near perfect casual puzzle game.
Coming back to this review and editing after the casual mode update:
The new mode was literally game-changing for me. Practicing with casual mode definitely reset my brain and let me look at the game through fresh eyes. Going back to classic, I beat silver iii in ten tries; it might not sound impressive, but I’ve been struggling with silver ii/iii since the game’s release. I really admire how quickly the developer responded to feedback in creating this update; it’s amazing to be so dedicated to your audience and game.
JDny80,
Great game
This is a super polished, lovingly crafted game with excellent sound design and haptics, and unique and interesting gameplay. My only criticism is that as the complexity of the board/rules increases, both the number of levels you have to complete at that higher complexity before progressing increases, as well as the number of matches you have to make to complete a level, meaning the difficulty curve gets exponentially steeper. I’ve reached Silver 2 and having to complete 7 levels, which each take longer to complete as the progress bar and level-up boxes have also gotten larger, is more frustrating than fun. I’m bummed that I might not get to see the next gameplay twist as the board doesn’t reset after a level; the timer just gets rolled back for all of the pieces, meaning the longer you play, the more jumbled the board becomes and the less likely you are to complete the ‘rank’. I think this could use a little tweaking. That aside, I love the game and look forward to future updates!
bellsbeth,
Amazing but difficulty increases exponentially
This is such a fun game and I love the color scheme and design. The issue is the difficulty of the game increases to the point that I’m not sure if I will ever get past Silver II. When the stage increases, the number of levels you have to complete to finish the stage increases along with the difficulty. It also takes way more matches to finish the level. The combination of these things means the game gets very difficult. It almost makes me want to give up because I will never be able to finish those 7 levels to pass Silver II. The game would easily get 5 stars if difficulty progression was smoother.
melissapete24,
Gets IMPOSSIBLY hard WAY too fast.
Hit “Silver I” rank in no time…and that’s where I’ve been ever since. I REALLY want to like this game, but it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE after a very short while. It’s no fun when you’re doing nothing but losing again…and again…and again…and…. EVERYTHING else about this game is amazingly well done. Very smooth and satisfying gameplay, nice visuals, satisfying tile sounds, the whole package. Except the fact that in just 15 minutes (if that) the gameplay went from enjoyable to impossible and frustrating. I give up, and I’m sad to give up, but why should I keep frustrating myself when games are supposed to be FUN? So this game is now deleted. Maybe in future it’ll not be so completely impossible to progress so early in and so suddenly. If so, I’d definitely redownload it. Until then, this game is off my devices. Which makes me sad. 🙁
Atcastle,
Starts fun then gets way too hard
At first, I was really in love with finity. Great visuals, good animations and feel, and really fun puzzle gameplay. I thought I had found a puzzle game I could play for a long time.

Unfortunately, the game has a really poorly designed difficulty curve. Every time you rank up in the game, it takes longer to reach the next rank, and simultaneously a LOT of new, difficult tile types are added to the board. By the time you reach “silver 2” rank, it’s a grueling slog where you can easily play for 20 minutes then lose all progress. By the time I reached “silver 3” the game had become so difficult and stressful to play that I just gave up. Really disappointing that such a promising game became unplayable so fast.
tdstone,
Very polished, but flawed puzzle game
The look, feel and game mechanics are first class. But there are enough issues to lose a star and I hope there will be updates to address these flaws.

I reached Gold level and played mainly Classic mode.

1. As has been stated by other reviewers, it gets hard really fast. That said experience does help you improve the longer you play. Just need a longer difficulty ramp.

2. High scores per rank don’t seem to work. I always just saw the previous round score and not my rank best.

3. This is my biggest complaint…I was disappointed that Gold was just an endless mode. Despite the very difficult nature of the previous ranks I was looking forward to more changes to colors, power ups and number of rounds to clear. Without a set challenge to attain, I have lost interest in playing at Gold rank.

I am highlighting the complaints but overall great game, great look, great sounds. So, very impressed. Just wanted a bit more. Nice work.
ShaknEspresso,
Fun! Needs some tweaking
This app is a fun game. I tend to prefer simpler or traditional games.

The main adjustment I would like to request is for the “sound off” setting to persist. I often listen to audio books and podcasts while playing and it’s very annoying when I open the app and my audio is interrupted by the sound effects. I can turn the sound effects off during a session, but then they’re back the next time I open the app.
TanisNikana,
Japanese character support is busted.
I can’t find a way to leave a bug report, so I’m putting it in a review. My phone is in Japanese and Instead of showing any text at all, Japanese text in Finity is replaced with boxes. There doesn’t seem to be a language switch anywhere. The good news is that I was able to learn the game without any language test, so that’s a solid tutorial!
Adam Szym,
Very good but can be so hard it stops being fun
The bones of this game are extremely good. The look, feel, and mechanics are all basically exactly what I want. That being said, it becomes prohibitively difficult VERY quickly and I’d like to see some work done balancing things slightly. At times getting a good run going is frustrating to the point that I just close the game. I’m sure this is partially a skill issue, but I think it goes beyond that too. Just my two cents.
