Great instrument.
Still learning how best to use this, but I’m enjoying at least knowing the depth and structure that I’m fishing. Having never had a sonar (or a boat!), I’m not aware of all the limitations, and it seems to work well for me as a shore fisherman. I know now where some deeper spots are that I can cast to - I find that I can only cast the sensor about as far as I can cast. It loses connection sometimes, but I think that if it stops for a more lent, it reconnects.
The first couple of times I went out I dedicated a rod to it, but lately I just carry it in my shirt pocket. It’s light enough. I use 10-pound test, and it seems secure. It’s sort of a trick to cast it far if you’re not used to that much weight. I probably get about 75-80 feet.

Want to risk a private waterway’s privacy? Create an account and boat/gps scan it. Anyone will then be able to view its location with your depersonalized data. So sure, it’s not your exact scan, but the location is given away…I even see a dirt access road traced out; which is insanely weird, because it was named… along with the body of water (both of which are nameless on any other map you could possibly find). Someone created bogus information... And apparently, you need to “own” the land to have blue pin removed from global maps… I need to text owner to inform them their property is at risk. Essentially a scheme to give away locations to all the grubs who pay, or scan their way into Premium. Another thing is; nowhere do they mention guest mode keeps your scans off global maps, I found that in here as a response to someone else’s review. Never making an account would be your best bet if you happen to have a honey hole. All I can really do is chuckle though, most people would be fooled by the fish in the spot I scanned. They know who’s boss.

As far as I can tell, the app and the sonar device are of excellent quality and utility. Not too long ago, functionality like this would have cost way more.
However, it appears that all of the user’s bathymetry data are automatically uploaded to the company who catalogs it, anonymizes it, and combines it with other users’ data to offer their premium service (however else they might use it is unclear). The privacy policy is vague about who actually owns the copyright to the bathymetry data that the user collects with the device that you have paid for. The web site FAQ does state that you can request to have removed any bathymetry data from a private lake but ONLY if you provide evidence that you own the lake! So basically, you are paying for the privilege of collecting data for them to market as they wish.
I don’t mind this as a business model, but I wish they would be explicit so that all users know what they are actually buying into. The privacy policy or terms of use really ought to say in plain language: “You agree to turn over all of your bathymetry data to the company who can sell and market it however they choose.”
Even better would be if they’d offer the user the ability to opt out of automatically turning over the user’s own data to the company.

Few Years In
I started out with the Start back in 2020 and recently upgraded to the PRO+. I mostly fish from the bank and really just wanted to know what the general bottom was like in the areas I was fishing in. The Start was nice for getting general depth and vegetation and structure amount. I had limited previous experience using fish finders so I struggled getting this thing dialed in and felt it hard to get in depth information at first. Eventually after playing with the settings and having some patience with the app I started catching fish! Worthy every penny!

Not that great at all
There are lots of things that could be a great deal better than they are with this app and with the device. For one, you can only view one scan at a time in the app meeting if you lose the connection between the phone and your device, which happens all the time btw, and have to start a new scanning session. You can’t look at them both at the same time. Often a lake ends up broken down into a dozen separate scans so you can see how this would be a major downfall.
For another thing it’s really a device. Anything that is used in the manner these are, as in thrown long distances outside should be made to withstand some impact, but these really are not mine broke on its third bouncing off of a rock, having fallen only a foot and not free fall, but just penduluming towards my feet at the shoreline. The housing did not cracked but the computer and the battery both have failed as a result.

Definitely worth the investment
If you are a shore fisherman, you have to have this Sonar and app. One thing I always thought was why does people on a boat have such an advantage catching fish, well it comes down to having a fish finder and this Deeper sonar is the shore fisherman’s version that is castable. The app is very well designed and the user manual is very well written to teach even the newest users to fish finding. Don’t waste your time and get this immediately!!!

Great app, very useful and user friendly.
Just wish there was a “fish species guide” available for quick references. Would come in handy to have a library while trying to identify unknown species. then I could delete the other apps on my phone. Such a pain jumping from one app to another. Would probably increase user productivity and app usage as well.

I absolutely love this device. It is extremely versatile, enabling me to scan hard to reach areas. The battery life is amazing, I can use the deeper all day off of a single charge. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to be limited on where they utilize a fish finder.

I’ve used it several times and let me tell you living and doing most my fishing in Houston we are not blessed with crystal clear water so you can see where the fish are. Deeper helps me target areas where there are actually fish rather than wasting my time casting into a empty area. Should have gotten the more advanced model though I think I’m going to give my start to my nephew and buy a pro.

Super simple
This device really has helped improve my understanding of the layout/topography under water and since purchasing, I’ve noticed an improvement in my success even during these colder months. The app is incredibly easy to use, simple UI. I’m very happy with it overall.
