RCAs (Rockfish Conservation Areas) are used to minimize contact with deeper-dwelling species of rockfish needing protection from fishing. The RCA boundaries are defined by straight lines connecting federal waypoints which cut across water in various depths. Recreational take of those groundfish species subject to RCA restrictions is prohibited seaward of these lines regardless of depth. These boundary lines are now built into the app and will automatically update to reflect the latest regulation change.
The lines can be shown even when you are out on the ocean, with no cellular signal.
This update also includes a minor bug fix.

clumsyninja87,
App has the fish I was looking for
There’s definitely more pictures needed for some of the fish . I like the layout and organization more than any books and it’s a good price for a full year

Awesome app easy to use!!
Always up to date!!! Super easy to use and stay legal!! I seriously don’t know how people can start fishing or stay up to date with out this app with how much things change and the mpa boundaries, it can be a nightmare trying to navigate the DFW site. I had a question about a reg and emailed them and fish legal immediately responded and was super helpful really above and beyond well worth the 10 bucks!!
Fishdog1000,
Great app
Worth getting the pro
They did a good job getting all the information you can get for free all in one app for us.
It takes a lot of time to get this info and plotting it out on your charts.
One guy said there off on the size limits of rock fish , well he has wrong information for California.
Only some rock fish have size limits, not all. He must throw back a lot of fish.
jean debe,
Easy to use, shows where u are
No one has time to futz with an app while fishing. This is easy to use, shows where you are. Good reference for no fish zones and showing your location helps keep you out of the No zone areas. Very helpful. Use it a lot.
Patrisage,
DO NOT TRUST this app!!!
I was counting on using this app to help with rockfish, identification and regulations. Unfortunately, the regulations are six years out of date, and have changed significantly! Fortunately, I had at least some familiarity with current regulations, and was able to avoid keeping illegal rockfish (listed as legal in this app) that could have resulted in a huge ticket.
In addition, their listing/map of marine protected areas is incomplete; Cordell bank national Marine sanctuary is absent!
LionessLA,
Informative and Detailed
Love this app! Pro Subscription is well worth the money. This is a solid resource for fishermen, environmentalists, and teachers. Just purchased so haven't discovered any glitches or misinformation; will keep you posted!
that 1 guy?,
Not shabby, but some errors
The app shows rockfish has no size limit. Absolutely incorrect, 12 inch minimum on rockfish. Additionally, more photos of species identification for rockfish would be helpful for many users.

Overall great app. Very accurate for boundaries and easy to use.
Nachos 4 Nico,
Very helpful
A game warden in the Monterey area recommended this app to me and my fishing buddy. This is the simplest, most convenient way I’ve found for knowing the boundaries of the conservation areas and their fishing regulations.
blueklepper,
Offline map
Offline MPA map really helps to know the rules of those numerous marine protected areas!
ForgottenNombre,
Great simple app
Love how easily I can double check the species and regulations.
