Description

Flora of the Wasatch presents more than 300 wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees readily found in the Wasatch Range, including such diverse ecosystems as the Great Basin desert and alpine tundra.

Designed for expert and beginner alike, this guide presents each species in a clear, informative format that provides photos and illustrations of the plant, an easily understood description, distinctive field marks, preferred habitats, and tidbits on the plant’s ecology and cultural use.

An innovative, easy-to-use key allows the user to select flower color, leaf type, and other characteristics to quickly identify unknown plants. You are on a hike, look down and see a flower with yellow petals and opposite leaves but don’t know its name. It could be tall and thorny, sticky with black berries, sweet-smelling with square stems. Just select what you do know on the app and all plants matching your description will be shown. Photographs and information used by the app are stored locally, making the app available to use with or without a data connection.

We hope this app increases your enthusiasm for the plants that give us all life and inspiration. Revel in the wildflowers and infect others with your love of the land.

SueCoug,
Nice to finally learn names
I grew up along the Wasatch Front and loved looking at the flowers but had difficulties finding names. Browsing through the app brings back memories. So nice and easy to use, the maps also clue me in on other areas that I might find the same plants.
Dudewithanewipad,
Amazing app. Worth every penny.
I bought this on a whim on my way to hike because I left my beloved flower book at home. I love the ease of the app. It was so fun to use and I hate to say that I may not go back to my book. Thanks for the amazing app.
smaartypants2000,
I LOVE this app!
In the interest of full disclosure I have only used this app once. However, after struggling for more than an hour to identify all of the wildflowers I saw on my hike today in my wildflower field guides with only partial success, I turned to the App Store hoping to find some help. And did I ever find help! I was able to quickly identify all of the flowers I couldn't find in my books. I am so glad I found this app! I want to yell it from the rooftops!
Wxgirl27,
Pretty good
It's really easy to use this app! Nice pictures and names of flowers! Expensive but good, especially if you aren't lugging your flower guides with you on a hike day. It has a cool feature to search by flower petal shape which is helpful. So far, it doesn't have all the Wasatch plants but it definitely has a lot and many of the common ones. I like it!
Ac7od,
Very good but...
This is a really useful app. I teach Botany and I have been attempting to find something other than making students buy the very expensive "Utah Flora" book. I am hoping the authors will add more of the state in the near future. I don't live along the Wasatch Front.
G1Columbia,
Fantastic App!
I love trail running and hiking in the Wasatch. Having a resource to help me identify the beautiful wildflowers I encounter is awesome. Very easy to use and very informative. Everyone should have this on their phone.
Wasatch Nature Enthusiast,
Great app!
This is a must-have app if you are into wildflowers along the Wasatch front. Well worth it.
