Description

Want to focus better on what you're doing? Focus Time is a beautifully designed timer for people who want to avoid distractions and get more done.

LifeHacker: "Keeps You On-Task and Productive"

Want to eliminate the anxiety of time and enhance your focus and concentration?

The key is to apply yourself to tasks by working in units of 25 minutes, separated by short breaks of 5 minutes.

The steps are:

1. Choose a task to accomplish
2. Start timer
3. Work until timer rings
4. Take a short break
5. Every 4 sessions, take a longer break

Focus Time will automatically switch between the work timer and the long/short break timers, as well as counting the number of sessions you've completed. You can select an activity and see a graph of how you're spending your time.

Don't worry about taking a call or switching to another app while using Focus Time - the timer will carry on running even in the background.

Now with iCloud-based syncing so you can see your achievements on all your devices!

elgrego1939,
I like the simplicity. Also, a request
I like the simplicity of the app. Very straightforward. I do have a request for the developer, though: would you add support for 3D Touch? It would be useful to be able to access some of the basic functions of the app that way. Thanks!
PJ-75,
Request for Developer
Great App! A request for the developer. The start and end sounds for Work Session and Break Session. Could you please enable us to choose one of our purchased ringtones instead of only from a short list of sounds? Thanks for considering.
DigitallyCrazy,
Apple Watch App?
This is the best all in its class, and I love it. I just wish it had an Apple Watch App, that would make it so much more useful to me as I don't want to dig out my phone all of the time. Any chance this is in the works?
Son of Mad,
Great for students
Self explanatory. The app is an easy way to keep yourself in the zone without going crazy from a marathon session of work.
Zeta tester,
Needs Apple Watch support
This is a good app. It will be a great app when it works on Apple Watch!
KJenk0122,
App locks up iCloud and won’t sync between devices
The app locked a file in my iCloud and now won’t sync between the devices. The developer is completely unresponsive. I wouldn’t be surprised if they abandoned the app. Do not download there are so many better timers out there with a more responsive development team.
nicegalaxy,
Awesome!
I enjoy using this time tracker.
enature,
Smooth interface helps churning Pomodoros
I tested all five Pomodoro apps on the Apple Store and like PomodorPro the most. Clean and smooth interface, large visible timer, and options to modify the length of Pomodoro, short and long breaks in 1 minute increments (up to 60 min). The Start sound is pleasant. Although the picture shows only up to 8 starts (Pomodori), it can account for many more and, after 10, it displays the number of completed Pomodori. I use it to track the weekly count of Pomodori. Another nice touch is that breaks start automatically, but you have to manually start a new Pomodoro after the break. What is also well-thought is that touching Reset once does not reset anything but gives you an option to reset either the Timer or the count of Pomodori.
I hesitated to try this app because it allows pausing a Pomodoro, which is the violation of the core principle - a Pomodoro is atomic and indivisible, but I noticed that I just do not use Pause function at all.
An update allows now to add a ticking sound, which is a must for many Pomodoro users as it helps to focus. However, I wish it would have an option to disable ticking sound during breaks. Also, the quality of ticking sound should be improved (Pom Timer App has the highest quality ticking sound).
The app does not allow to manage tasks, but for timing and counting Pomodori, it does an excellent job. I have been using it for a couple of months and became an indispensable app. Very well worth $3.
mahuti,
Simple and effective
When used with the pomodoro technique, this is very simple and effective. When your pomodoro is over the app automatically starts the break period, and sets a long break after the fourth pomodoro. This also displays your completed pomodoros.

The visual layout is clear, even from a distance, activation of a timer could not be simpler.

This only functions as a timer, it does not track your accomplishments or allow you to plan them. Some might be disappointed by the inability to do these two critical functions of the Pomodoro method, but I would not use those functions anyway, paper would work better for me.

I only wish that the icon featured a tomato, because that's a bit more fun than the current icon, and more representaive of the system. A minor detail.

In the final review, this is just a glorified timer, but useful for the Pomodoro system. Yes you can use the iPhone's built in timer, but the automatic break timer, tracking of each 4 pomodoros and count of completed pomodoros makes this a perfect companion to the system.

Fans of GTD system will find the Pomodoro method of time boxing a useful companion. I use this in conjunction with OmniFocus, one to track and break down projects, and the other to box and estimate my time.
JaMMy_JaM,
Could be great...
This application has the best implementation of the Pomodoro technique with its continual timer and break feature, but there are two problems with this app. One is minor, the other is severe.
1. The minor problem is the price. This app is over priced for what it does. The real work is on your part to properly use the tool.
2. The severe problem is that this app doesn't do backgrounding or local notification. Either would be acceptable with local notification probably preferred, due to a larger compatibility with IOS devices. This application is pretty much useless to me until this feature is added.

I use my iPhone while I'm working to drown out office noise. This application will not notify you if it is not in the forefront. Bad oversight on the developer's part. This review is missing two stars. Both are because of the notifications, the price just leaves me thinking I paid too much, but really because of problem #2.
