Issues but fixable
So, the way the app is currently setup is a just not intiuvite. It’s not a just works solution. After many attempts it took at least an hour to get all of my custom fonts in. There seems to be multiple issues. One is with batch opening. The profile will corrupt if the user selects more than 8 fonts at a time to install. If you selected all of your fonts it will not work. Then the user has to go in and manually delete them one by one. So the app in it’s current form is really a nightmare to work with. There must be batch delete added in, and you guys have to figure out the limition on batch importing with the profile. Also, the profile in general is very wonky. Sometimes it appears, sometimes it appears for 2 seconds than disapears and has to be downloaded again. If a user wants to get their fonts into Vectonator they have to do it in groups of 8 or less and download a new profile every time. This is counterintutive, and extreamly combersome. Not something that matches with the high qulaity of Vectornator. Not something that matches with the platform as a whole, and def not something that makes sense in 2021 on an iPad Pro. This should be a streamlined simple quick solution. Other apps are setup so fonts are linked to files in iCloud Drive or even on the native hard drive. In other apps you can pull all of your fonts into a custom folder in files and it just works. The app should really be setup like this.

Close, but Not Quite…
Overall, the concept for this app is simple and excellent - install your custom fonts (.ttf, etc.) quickly and easily and use them across your iPad OS apps like Office 365 and others.

I would easily give this app 5 stars if there were fewer bugs and unexplained errors. For instance, iOS has no problem with Japanese fonts, but this app glitches out and shows glyphs instead of the fonts for some reason. Also, more commonly, there will be something that the app doesn’t like about a font file or font family and it will just say “this profile cannot be downloaded”. This is particularly problematic when installing multiple new fonts at a time as you don’t know which font is the problem and have to go back through and install them one at a time to figure out which is the problem.

Again, great concept and big props to the dev team for all their efforts on this. Just need a little more polish/intuitive UI in order to become a top-tier option.

Fontinator is about to make me uninstall 2 apps
I wanted to use Vectornator since another vector app I like is no longer being supported. The problem is that I need to be able to import fonts into the app for my design projects, and Fontinator is an awful answer to that issue.

I tried importing just one font for a project that I had previously imported into Vectornator. Fontinator created the profile for the font, and the iPad believes that the profile has been installed successfully. However, Vectornator still can’t see the imported font, and Fontinator still says that the font needs to be installed. I have double- and triple-checked my steps. This whole process is counterintuitive anyway, as other design apps on iPadOS allow us to import fonts from within the app, rather than having us use a separate app that then makes us install profiles in the main Settings. Maybe that’s why there haven’t been any Fontinator updates in a couple years…

Whatever the reason, this poor excuse for a font installation path is a dealbreaker. I want to like Vectornator, but the app is useless to me if I can’t add the fonts I need. Unless y’all can come up with a better font import path ASAP, I guess I’m about to uninstall both apps to regain that storage space on my iPad.
jesscasas13,
Was working amazingly, until it wasn’t.
I was super excited to be able to install several fonts at once, then while loading another batch I got an error message “bad profile.” Removing one font at a time in search of the “bad” one, I ended up with 1 font only to have the same error message...what gives? I searched for a solution will no avail, I then removed the app, then reinstalled the app, still same result. So disappointed.
Ummm yeah....,
Worked at first. But now too much of a headache to deal with.
Originally I loved how Vectornator worked with all my fonts. And then they updated to use this apps to install the fonts to the app. Which was a little troubles some but do able. Now it seems some fonts don’t even work and I’ve had to clear out my font library several times to try and install just the fonts I haves used for some projects. It has been difficult to put it lightly. Even when getting new typefaces I have to worry if I’m spinning the barrel and biting the bullet. This has made me use the Vectornator app less for any font work I need to do. Very disappointing. I hope they release an update soon so I can get back to loving this again.
steghetti,
was working until recently
This app is great but it stopped working recently and keeps giving corrupt profile errors. I believe this might be due to an error showing up on the app store saying the developers haven’t provided privacy details to Apple and they may be blocking it for some reason? I tried checking all of my fonts and going over the tutorial and reinstalling and that’s the only other thing I can think of. Whatever the reason for this error may be I really hope it gets fixed soon! Otherwise I’m quite thankful for this app since the new update. ☺️

Worst. App. Ever.
This app makes literally no sense whatsoever. When you open the app, you will see the name of the app, a plus sign in the middle, and an “i” button for info. When you click the “i” button, the only information it gives you is that the app was designed in Germany and the current version downloaded. No real information for people with questions. When you click the plus sign, you can see your iCloud Drive and files. The thing is though, every single item in the drive is grayed out so you can’t select anything to even use the fonts! Huge waste of time!

Strong LIMITATIONS
I like the simple UI. However, like some have mentioned, batch importing is a huge issue. Huge because it takes troubleshooting between the apps sharing and this one, so time was wasted and frustration incurred. Also, there’s no ZIP file importing! Import 𝙤𝙣𝙚 (𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚) .otf or .ttf file at a time. Way way waaaaaay too time consuming.

Worse than useless
It worked at first but not with all my fonts. I tried uninstalling the profile entirely and reinstalling the fonts, now I can’t use any of them. The profile claims they’re installed, but the app says they’re not, and Vectornator is not recognizing them.

Please put it back the way it was where I installed fonts into Vectornator, because I now cannot use Vectornator at all for what I wanted it for in the first place.

Quick, Simple, Painless
I installed dozens of fonts through this app. There are older reviews talking about bugs with batch imports that seem to be fixed. The process isn’t exactly intuitive, but I think that’s more Apple’s fault than theirs. Very handy with a simple but elegant interface.
