The original (v1 was released in 2008!) & most beloved Food Additives app on the App Store is finally back! Thank you all for your patience & to all those countless fans who emailed asking if the app was ever coming back. Fantastic support!
FYI, frustratingly the app had to be fully redeveloped from scratch to get it working again. So good news, after several months of hard work it's back to its familiar glory with an enhanced 3D UI & other improvements just to make it even better. If we gather renewed interest in the app (so please let friends & family know about it), we'll definitely be looking into adding all new features and tweak the design even more to bring it to new levels.

Thanks again everyone & happy E-number checking.

No mention of Maltrodextrin and its many side effects, sometimes very serious and is being put in many foods as an flavor enhancer etc. a must to be listed and its side effects.
LadyIce830,
Disappointed...
Just glanced thru at first and right away saw amaranth. Being GF I am familiar with the grain, but is listed here as a "synthetically manufactured azo dye" also known as "food red 9". It should also be listed as Red Dye 2 and in fairness a disclaimer placed that this is not the same as the grain as not everyone who sees the listing will be aware or know to check for themselves. Some may even claim fraudulent information. It makes the app look less credible... It's not helpful if I have to cross reference every listing because of a lack of clarity within the app creating doubt.
SomeFdUPLiberal,
Well made and informative
Few apps are as informative with good UI. They do a great job of informing about additives, written in a way that anyone can understand what is in their food. A must have for people who eat stuff.
ChuckHoffman,
Useful app!
Just about every chemical that can be found in food, with information, risks and a safety rating. A great reference!
spatterfree,
Great app!
Thanks for the great app, keep on working on improvements!
enasNsane,
Misleading
Just read an article about brominated vetable oil. While my own research and the article list several side effects, this app states no info available. The above ingredient has such negative effects, that it is banned in numerous countries.
MrIcee,
Very Good! Needs very minor improvement
Wonderful app... very interesting and very indepth. Nice user interface.

My only complaint would be that I find the descriptions hard to read in that the text is too small (also, the italic text is very hard to read).

I would love it if it (1) supported landscape mode AND portrait mode and (2) Allowed me to zoom up the screen to see it better.

Other than that... an excellent and informative app done in a very pleasing and easy to use way.
jgmcm,
Also disapointed
Just a link to wikipedia..somewhat credible
SidCid,
Thank you! New icon is great!
This app is very interesting and useful. I like how you've created different ways to view the data. My favorite is the "Diet" view where you can view additives by what they're derived from (ie insects, animal, bacterial); very entertaining and informational! I also like the icons you associate with some of the risks (included on the flip side of the additive listings). On that note, the 'Symptoms' sort option is by far is the most useful option for me.
Zjenji,
Simply Awsome!
I wish I could buy this for everyone! Spend a few minutes with this app and your favorite snack food and see what you put into yourself. I'm not preaching or advocating one thing vs. another, simply that you should be aware of what you are eating. This is particularly useful if you suffer from allergies, migraines etc. The religious aspect is an interesting one as well, seeing how hard labels make deciphering what comes from where. Love this app!
