Football Drama is a narrative and managerial game on football.
You are Rocco Galliano, the Marseillaise new manager of Calchester Assembled Football Club.
After the abrupt ending of your coaching career seven years ago, the hysterical attention of the press quickly faded. But struggling results by Calchester FC convinced Boris Aluminovitch, its billionaire president, to axe the previous beleaguered manager and give you a new chance.
Will your raucous shouts from the bench change the fate of the team? Will you find wiseness and karma leadership with the help of the Book of Changes? Will your shady past reach back to you and make you crumble?

This Football Drama’s update brings night matches, that are part of an overall improved management of weather conditions (can be foggy, rainy, stormy, and it can even snow) that influence your team performance depending on overall stamina.
One nice new feature that we found can improve a lot the gameplay experience for some players is the “sped up mode” (thank you for the feedback), available in Settings, that speeds up the matches gameplay so that the flow from deciding between a cautious and a risky move is quicker. This option also removes the enter fields animations and the replays.
We also introduced some post-processing for the graphics of the whole application, which results in nicer animations..
And finally, a smoke-free logo...

Now if you play Football Drama on a high-resolution tablet, you can play it in landscape mode, getting the additional features available on HD layouts.
The other main updates are:
- After every training and for each successful card played, you get detailed feedback about your team's state compared with your current opponent. This is something several players requested. This reveals a lot of background, so we tried to make it so that it does not "break the magic" of how matches go.
- We introduced more variations in the narrative (e.g. press meetings), with more integration between matches and Rocco's life, and removed some end of match loops ("handshakegate") after the first championship weeks.

Football Drama's attack actions now have a "slo-mo replay" feature at their end. We think its quite cool :-)

- Fixed a bug in the Russian version that stopped the game at certain dialogues.
- Little improvements in the dialogues' language and in translations.
WARNING
In this release we have made explicit the requirement that "Metal" (a technology) must be supported by your device; the former OS version requirement was already doing that, but it included some iPad Air models that do not support "Metal Shaders". Our new restricted requirement will not solve the problem for those iPad Air because formally they do support Metal but actually they do not work with Metal Shaders, and there is no support for the distinction. Sorry for that.

- We removed the (sometimes repetitive) meeting with the president when nothing crucial is happening (i.e. he is not furious, you are not fired, you didn't win the championship). This too seems a small change but makes the whole flow more natural.
- We did a lot of improvements in the translation, in particular in French (Charlene Lebrun), Italian (Luca Papale), Chinese (Melanie Luo), Russian.
- BUG FIX: We fixed a bug in the rendering of the German and Russian Oracle dialogue that crashed the game.
- BUG FIX: There was an occasional problem in saving the state of matches (not involving you) of the current week.

Could have been so much more
New release, I get it. But for $5 the game seems very unfinished. Managing a team, I thought, meant managing people, players trainers, hot dog sales and so on. Instead your players are reduced to dots. You don’t control tactics, instead you’re given cards that work seemingly at random.
I was really roooting for this game as I think other football management sims take themselves too seriously. I love the style and feel, I just think there could and should be way more substance without sacrificing any of the feel. Maybe it will get improvements but now the game is more of a depression sim than anything else.

I could go into all the reasons why I regret buying this, but I’ll spare myself the time and just use the most foundational reason: the commentary never changes. If you miss a shot, the sentences said by the commentators are the exact same every time. If you lose the ball, are driven backwards, make a foul, kick a corner, etc., the commentators say the exact same line for each scenario. Given that this game doesn’t have a whole lot going for it action-wise and is mostly a barebones strategy game that lies almost entirely on a simple fatigue meter and coin-toss mechanic about whether you will win versus your opponent in any particular scenario, this is just a bore overall. Wish I’d spent my $5 on something better, like a sandwich or a pound of apples. 2 stars because the game runs smoothly, it references the I Ching, and the color scheme and design are catchy. The rest of it is trash. I’m going to try and finish my season and then delete it.

Different kind of game
Unusual take on Football (Soccer) games. Worth a try, especially for just a few bucks/quid/euro. Instead of directly controlling players, you guide them generally, as a coach, holistically one might say. I found it humorous, interesting & entertaining. And the games can be exciting...you wouldn’t think mere dots on a playing field would be, but they are! Also, a recent update (November 2019) has addressed some of the issues mentioned in other reviews. FYI, the game is also available on Steam for PCs.

Interesting concept/slow gameplay
It looks like this game definitely has some good potential. It is a very drama and storyline focused game and feels very different compared to other sports simulation games like fmm.
The biggest problem is a slow gameplay. Everything(dialogue, match engine, intro, etc.) in this game is extremely slow and there is no skip feature or fast forwarding feature. It takes lots of patience to go through a few games because of this inconvenience. Definitely understand what the developer is trying to do in terms of the vibe but I really do not want to see little dots(players) entering the field for 10seconds every time I play a match. It makes the game super slow and boring unfortunately.

Expected more
Came into this game with high expectations, after finishing one play through the dialogue is the same after every game with the press and the owner of the club. The games are simple after you figure out the mechanics then it is easy to win the league. I feel that their is a lot of room to improve as the concept is very interesting but overall I was expecting more

Good Concept, Terrible Dialogue
The concept is great. The idea of controlling your team and having stats based on your off field interactions is interesting. Trouble is, I’m 5 games in and the dialogue is so bad it’s impossible to tell what’s actually happening.
For example, at one point I “apologized” for something I did and the “press” published a story about my Appy Lolo Loogy, or something like that. This is just one example. Very bizarre. Too bizarre. Will come back to this if they get some English speakers to review/change the text.
Also, add a tutorial. In readable English. Thank you!

Unresolved potential
For a game called football drama, it is sadly boring. Marches are slow and frustrating. I can’t seem to figure out what I am doing and it seems unfairly random. At least it needs a good tutorial (if I am generously assuming that the problem is my lack of understanding) at its worse, it needs an overhaul of game play.
It’s a shame. It is stylish, and a card based football game is a great idea. I also like the idea of a football game where you control the abstract ancillary parts of the game as a way to influence performances, but this game has not managed it.

Underwhelming
Really good idea, just not executed well. Games are pretty boring to play. There are a lot of in game stats that are never really explained. The drama outside of the pitch has a good premise, but there isn’t really much to do with it. Wouldn’t recommend for the price tag.
