Hex Arcanist,
Excited for v1.1 (and onwards)
TL/DR; Buy it. Absolutely worth the price of admission, and if it gets continued support it has the potential to be one of the great action platformers out there.

The game is a mashup of Metroid/Vania, Flashback, Dead Cells and a pinch of masocore corpse running. The graphics are superb, and yes, it requi… benefits greatly from a controller.

Note: The game pop up tells you it relies on ‘LB’ for context actions — this is actually RB, the right button, or R1 on a PlayStation controller.

Gunplay and maneuvering are both exceptionally smooth; running, jumping, climbing, double jumping, are all elegant and responsive.

Melee needs some time invested into it; everything feels just slightly off, as though the controller is lagging, and enemy responses are fairly non existent. It would benefit greatly from a proper light/heavy combo system, better enemy melee AI, a parry mechanic, and so on.

Gear rarity runs the usual color spectrum, and with 5 gear slots and (in the early game) 2 functions per piece of gear, there are plenty of build options. Leveling is straight forward and there are only two currencies; Gold and Xp, which is perfect for this kind of design. The unlockable levels pose some significant challenge and the reward for completing them is brilliant.

I love this game. It needs work, and I’m exceedingly hopeful that it gets the community support it needs to eventually hit v2.0.
Shangerz,
Exceptional. No, really.
The polish and fluidity of Foregone is outstanding. Excellent art and animation aside, the controls and combat are really satisfying👌🏼I’ve played for roughly 24 hours so far, granted some of that is grinding for weapons/upgrades, but combat and the gameplay loop is so much fun that it hardly feels grindy. Some UI elements could be larger. I play with a controller and screen mirror my phone to my MacBook connected to a larger monitor. Legit feels like I’m playing on a console. 6/5 stars.
GabeGane,
Needs better controls
So far it’s a great game. But the touch controls keep it from being a great game. The buttons are way too small. Which makes it so that a good portion of the time you miss hitting them. They allow you to change the placement of the buttons and adjust the size of the whole screen. What it really needs is the ability to change the size of the buttons. You can’t increase the size of the buttons by themselves. I’m hoping this is fixed in an update. In a game like this being able to hit the buttons consistently matters. Being able to increase button size would make a huge difference. I’ll update this review if that feature ever comes.

Update: it works way better with a controller. However, the game is weird how it assigns numbers for buttons. It says press “4” to confirm. Do you have to figure out which button is 4. Also, RB is labeled “LB”.

I still wish touch controls were better.
JimSteinMan,
Amazing! However, suffers from small text syndrome
It looks like there’s a menu item for it, but it just stays at 100%. Update: checking with a controller it shows this can only be lowered to 90%…ridiculous! I would love to be able to increase this to 150 or 200%, a lot of the text is just way too freaking small. I’m on a 12 Pro. The weapon descriptions are especially impossible to read. The weapon power ratings are insanely freaking small on the thumbnails. Otherwise, super gorgeous, great gameplay, atmosphere is totally amazing…stupendous except for this problem!

Really good bought on iOS may get on switch too
I like the game really fun great looking game. Thanks for making it for iOS. I agree only thing it needs its contrails to be tweaked. Very good work. I see people are mad about controls I have small hands so if I had big hands it would be really hard to play. Hope to see come cool update maybe paid or free DLC.
Roger.M.Little,
Great with a controller
Most of the complaints are with on-screen controls. With a controller it is every bit as good as games on other “consoles.” I’m glad that some devs are making quality games like this without micro-transactions. Well worth the price.
BobaG69,
Great game (with a controller)
I think a lot of you need to come to terms with the fact that if you want to play games like this, you need a controller.

Having said that, I’ve really enjoyed it so far. It’s not quite as good as dead cells, but it’s also 1/3rd the price.
It is I.,
Beautiful game, bad controls
Controls are so small, I constantly find myself frantically tapping the control area trying to hit the right skill button - which happens to be almost microscopic - and take huge damage or miss a ledge because my finger is off by a few pixels.

Please add the ability to increase button size in the options menu.
Samizdat5150,
Great Dead Cells inspired game.
I use a PS5 gamepad when playing this. I can’t imagine playing w/out a controller (I’m don’t use touch controls for any game.)

My only criticism is that there are some long jumps that are hard to pull off because I jumped 1mm too soon.
abuelito,
Great premium action/platformer/RPG
Not a crushingly hard as Dead Cells, but with much of the charm and visceral gameplay. Very much it’s own game, though. Touch controls are decent, but a must play with a controller (and now supported by Backbone :)).
