Description

The FSWidgets iGMapHD app turns your iPad into a moving map for your desktop flight simulator!

(See iGMap for the iPhone/iPod touch Version)

Do you own MSFS, FSX, FS9, X-Plane or Aerofly FS 2?

This app works with the three most popular desktop simulators on the market today, giving you a hand-held moving map to aid navigation, especially on simulated VFR flights.

It connects to the flight simulator via our free FSWidgets Network Pack which can be downloaded from the FSWidgets website (http://fswidgets.com/shop/network.php).

iGMapHD saves valuable screen real-estate on your desktop by using your iPad to display your aircraft's current position.

* The OFM series are implemented as transparent overlays, drawn over the base map and depict airspace data for that country. More countries may be added as they become available.

Added - New Base Maps
---------------------

We have re-organised this menu and added a new set of world-wide base maps. Some of the new maps (Road series) are retina-enabled so users of devices with a retina screen will notice the maps are very sharp.

In this department there is actually a slight reduction in the total number, but we have consolidated the collection into a more useful list by removing the ones that our customers were just not using much anymore, based on the stats over the past year.

Added - Map Scale
-----------------

This one was slipped in via the mapping engine but the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a little box in the bottom left hand corner that displays the map scale as 1:500,000 or 1:250,000 and so on. We include it for no other reason than it's cool to have and to know when your map display is at the same zoom level as the WAC (1:1,000,000), Sectional (1:500,000) or TAC (1:250,000) scale.

Dorfknarr,
Amazing support!
I had trouble setting up the apps. Fermin responded promptly to my request for help and patiently walked me through it. It turned out that my Mac was blocking parts of the app. It turned out to be an easy solution. He was very helpful; I’m very happy with the apps!
breadwild,
Indispensable tool for the full flying experience
As an avid X-Plane user, I was excited to come across this application, which, at the very least, eliminates the need for going back and forth between flying and the Local Map—which interrupts the whole flying experience. Seeing where you are "in space" makes flying much easier (especially VFR airport patterns where you can see your relationship to the runways). But so much more beyond that: multiple choices for maps (love the ability to switch easily between Sectionals and Hi and Low IFR charts), overlays, weather, and navigation aids. Zoom in for airport diagrams—great for taxiing. DropBox integration allows easy loading of X-Plane .fms files for plotting flight plans. The only thing on my wish list is pop-up approach plates, but that's asking for the moon.

Best of all—great support. Fast, thorough, thoughtful, and personal responses from the developer.
Hangar32,
One of the Big Three
This app, along with FSWidgets QuickPlan and EFB are the “Big Three” for my iPad. I plan using nothing but QuickPlan. If it is a short GA flight, EFB comes out. However, if I have a long flight–Large GA,COMAIR or MILAIR–a “serious” sim flight challenge, iGMapHD is the answer. It combines all the necessary elements - seamlessly takes a QuickPlan flight plan - has all the maps and charts you could want - the weather options are awesome. If you are using real world weather in the sim - you NEED this app. The high definition of the maps are excellent. The satellite map, not only looks great, it allows pure, realistic VFR navigation with enhanced scenery packages. Of course the moving map display is a great feature…and a rock solid feature at that. Nary a dropped link-up but if it does happen, you’ll be resented in seconds. iGMapHD is a workhorse with the speed and finesse of a thoroughbred!
jmoors,
Fantastic App for use with FSX
This has been the most important "addon" I have used with FSX. It has made my flying so much more enjoyable. I am able to see where I am in the world and and relate that to my flight plan. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The times that I have contact Tech Support, Fermin Fernandez, he has responded with the answer usually within an hour or two. He is also very receiptive to any ideas that you have for improving the product. If you fly FSX buy it!! It is great to have a moving map showing your location with no frame rate hits. Fantastic!
Charles Nicholas,
Great add with FSX
I know this app is one high cost. I am a instrument student and getting close to taking my check ride. In order to avoid too much flight time i have been using FSX a lot to learn on the ground and this app provide a good benefit by letting you see your track against your flight plan. This provides real world experience reading and working with low level enroute charts and helps integrate their use with navaids so you can actually feel like you are on an IFR flight. I would have given 5 stars if this app also provided approach plates and positional info against the plate while flying the approach. Since simplates are not supported anymore this feature would bring back that capability that Jeppeson abandoned and for the instrument pilot a great learning and teaching tool.
oceans777,
Outstanding, reliable map for flight sims
For FSX, X-Plane and FS2004 this is a fantastic moving map for iPad! With latest NEXRAD and single-click airport info (Freqs, ILS, runways) you can't beat it.
Super simple to set up - just download network utility for PC side and you're ready to fly. It's worth checking the developers page out as there are a ton of equally cool apps for flight planning and following on laptops, you name it, he's got it.
GeeDadReally,
A Pricey Must-Have App..
For anyone with an iPad who flies FSX... or FS2004 & X-Plane, for that matter... Works exactly as advertised. Totally eliminates the need to pause to switch to the in-sim map. Definitely recommended for those that can afford the rather steep price...

Speaking of $... I've dropped $25 on these two apps (iPad & iPhone)... Surely that's enough to put the screws to the Wizards of Oz so that they'll allow us some Aussie charts... 

ChuckinSC,
Absolutely Great
I'm really impressed. This is icing on the cake for my FS9 flights. As a B757 captain at Delta Virtual, this App presents an excellent moving map with great resolution and second-by-second updates. It also shows the altitude and groundspeed accurately. What great use to combine my flight sim activities with my iPad 2 I could not be more pleased. The developer is to be applauded. Can you tell I like it?
Hawaiian Flyer,
Best App/Phenomenal support
I had connection issues and received outstanding support from Fermin! Multiple trouble shooting suggestions with spot on end result. Can't say enough about the level of support received...learned something as well. The App is a superb and absolute must for a pilot at any level. Fabulous features and excellence student pilot learning Tool! Outstanding job!
Av8r.52,
Just What I Needed
I've been waiting for this one since FSX was introduced. It worked "out of the box", with FSX Gold Edition and Windows 7, on my iPad. The tracking is smooth and my frame rate in FSX seemed unaffected. I'm a student pilot in his last phase of training and haven't spent a lot of time with FSX over the past few months, but this is certainly getting me back into the sim!
