Description

Use your iPhone or iPad to find your way out of the maze with just your footsteps and a flashlight to guide you. Don't let the suspense sound effects make you nervous!

The 3D maze is regenerated each time, with randomly generated layouts, randomly selected bump-mapped wall materials, and randomly drawn skies (you'll have to find the exit to see that).

Features a first-person view and a dual thumb control: press your left thumb on the lower left corner of the screen moves you forward while dragging your right thumb on the screen turns. Double-tap to pause and bring up the menu.

Stuck? Give your device a good shake to rescramble the maze!

Tap the camera button to substitute your own wall material - either from your photo album or by using the camera.

SmartAppDevelopers - "Challenging. Really creates the feel of being lost in a maze. Fugu Maze is an interesting and intense application for the iPhone."

LisaStepUSA,
Improved controls
The update has improved the controls -I no longer get stuck facing a corner or staring at the ceiling! Not sure what the sound qeues are indicating ... a help screen would be good. Also, have the maze generate a new one automatically rather than putting you in a different part of the same maze (as several folks mentioned below). Still, I am having fun with it :-)

Boring, this game is cap!
This game is boring and it’s not even scary bit even a little, the sounds affects are classic and not even with effort or the graphics, I downloaded and played this game for like 5 minutes and I was like what the heck is this, the only good part I liked was the camera option where you can change the look of the wallpapers in the game that was cool, but the rest was junk, I’m sorry, though I’d prob play again if it’s actually scary and more realistic or so.

Not a game (yet)
Although everyone has his/her own definition of the word "game", I would rather call FuguMaze a "demo". It's a cool way to show graphics capabilities of the iPhone, but it lacks a lot of essential gameplay elements. After a few minutes wandering through the maze and looking at the identical textures becomes incredibly boring. Not to mention that there's always an easy method to find a way out: just follow the wall to your right (or left if you prefer). If you reach a dead end, just turn around and continue. Sooner or later you'll find the exit.

The music and the flashlight effect both help create a haunted, mysterious atmosphere where you would expect to find a scary monster hiding behind a corner, but it's a false feeling - there are no monsters, just the same boring walls everywhere.

To fully take advantage of that dark atmosphere you could add some variety to the textures, put one or two enemies into the maze, implement accelerometer controls - and not only you'll have the full right to call it a game, but it will become an instant hit.

Fugu Maze
First of all, to all you whiners this isn't that type of game, this is simply a fun maze game where you find the exit, you don't need to have aliens shooting rockets at you for it to be fun, these types of games are relaxing, trust me games like NanoMechs and FPS are awesome, but this isn't that type of game.

Fugu maze is what it says it is, it's a maze, randomly generated and you can import your own pictures in if you get tired of the games default walls. This is actually quite fun, you're just trying to find the exit, but for those of us who like mazes IRL this is an awesome app and well worth a purchase. There isn't a whole lot of depth (only one gamemode) and sometimes it's too dark, but those are minor gripes when the one gamemode offers a ton of depth and you can import your own pics. Buy it now, it's still updated, and well worth a try.

Two game concepts bad combined
I think majority of users love developing their location sense trying to find the exit in a maze place. Sadly this concept is ruined in this game for another purpose of the developer: to frighten the player. This metaphor is implemented with dark zones and unpleasant sounds. Consequently, player is always lost in the darkness and it is worthy to silence the device and turn on your stereo while you play.

To ameliorate this game, the developer should provide more clues to the player to find the exit, e.g: details on the walls to let user remember "I was here". Gameplay could be sliced in two modes: Day and Night. If you play in the day, everything is full of light and details. At Night is the already implemented thing. Other problems: Camera movement is not natural. The "Take a photo" popup menu is really annoying.

Good, but a bit scary
It's the best, highest quality maze you will ever see for your iPhone/iPad. I love it, but it's kind of creepy, being dark and the noises...it reminds me of nightmares I had when I was little.
SisAce,
Not actually a "game"
I agree with some of the other reviews. It's just a maze you go through, with the same walls throughout. It gets boring quickly. In order to be a "game" you need to be competing, at least against yourself. If you (the developers) added a score board and put a time clock on it, players could try to beat their best time getting through the maze. If you (the developers) aren't interested in making this an actual game, you could at least make some scary stuff pop up throughout the maze so that it's like going through a "haunted house."
KeenEdge1,
Control Issues
Fugu Maze has great textures, plenty of room to maneuver and interesting stage design. Unfortunately, that's just not enough to make a great game. The lower left side movement control wants to hide so far off the edge of the screen as to make moving next to impossible. While the lower right side direction controller is sluggish at best. If these control issues are fixed, Fugu Maze could be first rate game
ReddBrenn,
Well, it's a maze...
Great idea. No problem navigating, but it's a bit too dark at times. Maybe better walls and textures? and some acknowledgement when one gets to the exit ...instead of just getting put right back into the dark?
