Refreshed sign up, fixed issues with phone numbers and country codes, fixed issues with media player engine, repeat and shuffle – overall performance optimization.
This update brings an all-new sign up experience to Gbedu on mobile, with a refreshed and simplified sign up screen, designed to reduce the delay before users can start to find music from all of the Artists that they love and more – we’ve brought sign up time to 45 seconds!
Sign up only requires details that we use to create personalized experiences, communicate with and keep users’ account secured; some information we collect to aid personalization include name, email address, phone number, and at least 5 of user’s favourite genres and Artists – this refreshed design makes selection of user’s favourite genres, Artists (and their similar Artists) simpler and faster than before.
In this update, we have also improved the geo-location feature and now use the location data we collect to deliver much more location-based content to users, helping them discover music from around them quicker.
With this new release, users from all over the world can now successfully create a Gbedu account without experiencing phone number validation issues that used to occur as a result of incorrect country codes and unsupported phone number length.
The media player engine also got a refresh – it’s an all new media player! Users will no longer have an interrupted music play experience from losing internet connectivity while listening to their favourite track because of the “on-load, cache” method we have implemented to help load “Now Playing” and succeeding tracks on the Queue faster. Glitches with the “repeat” feature of the media player, on previous releases, have also been permanently fixed.
Additional improvements, from exhaustively exploring learning data from Mary, have come to the recommendation engine of Shuffle+ and this will help our users keep the mood and feeling of a Playlist going. This new release features a more accurate recommender system queuing up the most suitable followup songs without losing the interest of the listener.
