gneissplace,
Review of full version to follow
So far love UI and that's important to me. May well "jump ship" from goodreads now that they've gone to The Dark Side; this may be my lifeboat. Imagine it would be great to have a closed book group on social media (FB) -- and it looks like this app would allow you to share comments as you're reading VERY easily. Am also looking forward to trying the "timed" page auto-advance. Also like the idea of tracking reading time. It's all pretty ingenious. BTW Appstafarian is a fab name B-)
sandimacd,
Perfect for me
I was looking for a reader that can handle Gutenberg Project books by verticals scrolling. I read on my iPad, have had cataract surgery and require 3.5 readers. I have problems with only the center of my glasses being in focus- the rest of my screen is not a clear- so I prefer verticals scrolling. I can keep my eye focused in one place and move the text rapidly into that field of vision. It's especially useful in portrait mode if I am reading in bed on my side before falling asleep.

I like the ability to size the font and space the lines and adjust the color of the page and brightness. Combined, these features very much improve my reading enjoyment.

It's very easy to find an epub format of free online books and then "open" it in this app. Nice library of icon-images of the books. I don't really use any other features. I am a fast reader, often finishing it in a couple of days.
Laser claw,
Nice and simple scrolling
Update: after an app update I does not keep track of my current position and in stead start me at the beginning of the current chapter. So any time you leave the app or start another book it loses your place. There does not seem to be a way to navigate to manual bookmark positions

I used to use iBooks with the scrolling view but after a terrible update iBooks scroll became unusable(super janky and constantly loosing your page). I tried many reader alternatives and this is by far the best experience. It's UI is a little weird but it stays out of the way for the most part. Much better then iBooks ever was
capedape,
Lots of ideas but
There are a lot of things in this app that are good ideas, though the implementation is cumbersome.

It definitely needs highlighting and easy export to Evernote of just the highlights without metadata and without book cover pics attached to each highlight.

I was a user of Marvin previous to this and still find that app better for EPub. Actually, I'm finding I want to convert ePub files to word or PDF just to use the liquidtext iOS app, that app is massively innovative and seamless in its note taking and overall reading experience. I do still like this app for autoscrollso I'll keep it on the iPad to see if it gets updates.
Arnav Garde,
Awesome app for avid book readers
For a while there my only go to app for reading ePub format ebooks was iBooks but each time I changed devices I had to resort all my books, I'm kinda the obsessive compulsive book sorter. With the excellent UI of Gerty I no longer have to spend my time in sorting my collection simply syncing it and reading. Making my reading sessions pure bliss.
daaav75,
OK for reading - BAD for notes
Came here for auto scroll but disappointed by how the note taking is handled. This app could use serious update:
Sharing/Copy/pasting text only results in pasting the cover image of the book in your text document/email.
If you stay within the app, it works alright but then it gets hard/impossible to organize your notes when you’re a writer doing research etc and need to move your text around.
If you dont need anything else than reading, maybe that app is for you.
Bethdarleen,
Exactly what I have been looking for!lly
This app has everything I could hope for reading on my phone. Auto-scroll, dropbox linked, & an option to add photos! (and more) So happy to find this & really worth what I paid for the full version :) Thanks for putting so much thought into what users want!
bonebox,
This is not the ePub reader you're looking for
The dev doesn't seem interested in adding real ePub 3.0 support when there are free alternatives that handle it just fine. Sure the UI is nice, but who really cares when 95% of your time in this app is spent actually reading a book. There was no reason for the dev to release this app when he already had the superior app Marvin, other than just to double-dip his customer base. His time would have been better spent on improving Marvin, but instead we ended up with 2 sub-par apps that rarely get updated, neither of which truly support ePub 3.0.
Jonathan Morgan,
Actually works with calibre library when stored in Dropbox
It isn't perfect, but it can find my calibre library in Dropbox and let's me get at my books on iOS. It doesn't read metadata, etc., but I'm just happy I can filter and search, and I've had no problems with stability or crashes.
heartist,
Amazing app...the almost ONE for a book addict
Wish it had ability to add other formats such as .mobi and .djvu, and I'd switch to it exclusively as my reading App!

The ability to add notes is so simply elegant...and then to export as ePub is priceless. Would be nice to add ability to export journal notes to PDF or to One Note would be nice too.
