Gold Miner Joe Hack 1.33 + Redeem Codes

I played a lot of games from Donut Games when I was a little kid, I repurchased 5 of their games including this one. The games are good, thank you for the experience.

Gold Miner Joe for the iPhone and iPod Touch was ported from the PC. In this game, you are Joe and your  job is to get the gold from the mines and fighting your way through the obstacles in your path (including an angry gorilla).

There are signposts with the "?" sign that guide you through the game, offering tips and advice so you won't get lost.

Game controls consist of swipe, flick and tap. Swiping generally gets you where you want to go, while flicking upwards helps you jump up easily. Tapping repeatedly releases stones that wipe out your enemies.

The absence of a d-pad maybe a problem to some as the reviews on the App Store have pointed out, but the game controls just need a bit of getting used to. And who doesn't want their platform game to be a bit more challenging?

It's like Mario with a twist, I was hooked on the lite version and I just had to have it. I was expecting it to be about $5, and i was shocked how cheap it was, and it has tons of levels! The controls were frustrating at first but once you start to get the hang of it you relize that that it is very suited for this type of game. Try out the lite version first(make sure to give the controls a chance) and then get the full version before they wake up and start to charge $4-$6 dollers for it!

The D-pad is available in the options menu - but you have to swipe to scroll down and find it. I played the game a bit with the swipe controls and found them lacking. It is too easy to set off dynamite or do precision running/jumping with the standard swipe controls.

I've noticed a bit of lag/responsiveness in the control system when there are more than a few moving objects on the screen on a 1st Gen touch. Not a deal breaker but annoying none the less.

Graphically the objects are a bit small but reminicent of some of the old school platform games. The music is cute but repeats every third level or so.

Overall I'd give this 3 1/2 stars but since this is not an option I'll give it four -- simply for the addition of the D-pad.

This one took me by surprise. It's a lot of fun once you get the hang of the unique control scheme. Hold to move in that direction. Swipe up to jump. Little pressure changes with your fingers seem to have intuitive effects on Joe. Lot of levels to keep you involved. New enemies and things to do all the time. Definitely a winner, and inexpensive to boot.

When I first got this game, I got it as the lite version. I got so addicted to playing it, that I bought it. Hey it was only .99 and that's not bad compared to all the levels they got..I would hardly get any sleep playing this game..despite getting use to working the controls..that could be a hassle sometimes..but besides not knowing how to beat level 10 almost before you hit the congratulations level...it's a fun game.!!! Worth $.99

Fun, but the only challenge is mastering the controls. Couldn't get the little bugger to jump the way I wanted him to even after 40 levels. Creators seemed to get bored after making the first level, as nothing changes from level to level- same monsters, same ground, ropes, fire...
Most levels had virtually no challenge and required zero strategy to win.
Anyway, kept me entertained, and for 99 cents, can't go wrong!

Hey doughnut games please add a difficulty button because some levels are so hard to complete and also please make it so joe has more lives like maybe 4 instead of 2 (even though there are extra lives in the game that give you 2 extra tries in the game. Overall the game is very fun to play.

DG has released a number of addicting games (Spikey Bounce, Rat on Run), but none of them quite measure up to this one. Ironically, though, it takes place underground! It's got a lot to do, and often humerous sound effects (ie- "hehe! Extra life!!). I'd like to see maybe a level editor in the future. But aside from that, this game is worth every penny.
