Embraced by a technophobe nonagenarian
Over the years we tried to get my mom, now 92, to use various electronics like a laptop or iPad with disastrous results. She’s smart and an avid reader but is practically a Luddite. She barely uses the cell phone. I got her the GrandPad a couple of years ago when I read about its features and design—maybe this will work? It’s been a huge hit with her. Best part: she took ownership of it, figuring out how to use features on her own. I got it in large part because she is extremely hard of hearing and the feature allowing for typing what you are saying so she can read it in real time was a godsend. It turns out, though, that she also loves features that I didn’t think were a big deal, like the weather app and the online encyclopedia—she uses both every day. It’s very secure and the user can only have access to websites the administrator (in this case, me) authorizes. I added CNN and NPR at her request. She also figured out how to take photos and videos with it, which she posts on it for the rest of us to see and comment on; we can also post pics and videos. It’s been especially nice to have during the pandemic—it’s helped a lot with keeping her connected to her family. I highly recommend it; it’s worth trying even if your family member typically struggles with electronics.

A Suggestion from a 89 yr old Lady that is around “Siri.”
We saw how much my mother at 90 yrs liked The Basics of The GrandPad (we did not overwhelm her with anything like the internet, etc.. that the GrandPad had available, rather we just had the pictures, weather and voice with video) however, my husband’s mom’s children got her The GrandPad but introduced her at 89yrs old, to everything that The GrandPad had and because their mother was used to her older children always asking “Siri,” out loud a question, their mother wanted to do the same to The Grandpad and ask “Siri,” to call ……. a person’s name, which of course The Grandpad doesn’t do as their mother has at times issues with her fingers and hands and being able to see clearly what she is pressing … We are impressed with my 90 yr old mother who has The Grandpad and can get assistance thru The Grandpad however, my mother only likes that if one of her children are there at the same time. There are all kinds and sorts of people but wanted to share as we see tgat Tge Grandpad is a Great invention as far as we see it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Great to keep in touch
My mom is 87 and has no experience with technology. I was concerned about her during and not being able to have visitors. It has been the best thing. She is hard of hearing and can hear better on this app instead of the phone.
The only thing I would suggest is to contact customer service before purchasing so they can check the signal. The device I got was preloaded with T-mobile and there was no signal where my mom lives. I called customer service and they found ATT had a very strong signal so they sent a new SIM card and it has worked great. She ended up in the hospital a week after she got this and it has been great to check on her and be able to see her. We also love being able to send her pictures. She enjoys the games and articles as well.
And the customer service reps are amazing!

Family Connecting at its Best
I bought the Grandpad for my mom as a way to help her feel less isolated during this awful pandemic. She is a woman who has never owned a computer or knows how to work one. But the Grandpad is so user friendly that she quickly came to love viewing all the photos and videos that I and my siblings have posted and continue to post. She stays updated about her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She also uses it as a phone and likes to video chat with it which enables her to see her loves of her life. Although, she doesn’t use all the features that the Grandpad has to offer, she seems very satisfied with it. My siblings and I enjoy it immensely as well as it keeps us all in touch as to what is happening in each other’s lives.

Bringing family closer
I am so happy that GrandPad is available. When my 92 year old grandma had to put her dog to sleep, and then Covid19 brought on social distancing, I worried about my grandma being lonely. I had seen GrandPad advertised on Consumer Cellulars website and I took a chance. My grandma now gets photos from her immediate family and extended family, video chats with us, and thoroughly enjoys playing Bingo that’s a preloaded game. As the administrator, I am able to see how often she’s using it and I must say she’s using it much more than I would have ever imagined. I wish the service were a little cheaper, but I’m happy because she doesn’t have internet so this way she’s able to stay connected with all of us. So happy to bring a little joy to her life. Thanks GrandPad.

Love GrandPad!!
We bought my dad a GrandPad about 6 years ago and he LOVES it, as does the rest of my family. My dad’s family consists of 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and we all use it. My dad is 95 years old and loves the photos we post and loves to video chat with everyone, as we are spread from Alaska to Boston and Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Florida and Texas. Just last week we video chatted with him so he could “attend” my daughter’s wedding. He was so excited to feel like he was there. It has kept him active in all of our lives. GrandPad is easy to use, very reasonable priced (can’t put a price on some things) and representatives are so kind and helpful (and easy to understand). Love this company and the devices.

Lifesaver during pandemic
We bought Grandpad well before the pandemic. Tommy lives with 6 other men in a group home for individuals who are intellectually disabled. Originally, we bought it because he is extremely hard of hearing and this was the first device that fit his hearing needs. We quickly discovered that it was so much more than a phone!
The video calls have been our only way to see our son since March. During our calls, I cook dinner while Tommy “helps” me. We work a jig saw puzzle, or pick veggies from the garden. Tommy feels like he is with us during these calls, and we get to keep an eye on how he is doing.
The easy to use photo section, music, radio, and games are excellent for our son. He often sends us voice emails!
Many of the Grandpad customer service workers know Tommy when he calls for assistance. They could not be sweeter!!
We are so grateful to have this device for our son! Thank you very much for the recent addition of radio. During this pandemic many folks are very isolated and lonely. Without the Grandpad I don’t know what we would do.

Perfect for Elders

Best investment I have made for my dad!
My father, now 83, absolutely loves his GrandPad. He has had it for about 3 years now. I check his usage and it’s always dark green. My father has lost most of his hearing but he reads lips fairly well. We live in different states so it’s so nice to hear from him and see him on the video chats. I write emails to him and he sends audio emails back to me. Unfortunately he is now in a nursing home—but he still uses his GrandPad! When he gets anxious he plays the games and it takes his mind off of things. He especially loves the pictures family members post. The GrandPad helps him stay connected and not as lonely. I would highly recommend GrandPad to anyone.

Game changer
My 82-year-old mother now feels connected again to the family! The customer service is next level for the past 90 days I’ve researched buying Grandpad or not for my mother. So happy I finally pulled the trigger! And again for 24 hours a day service theThe casting for the customer service reps is second to none. I work in the service industry and can appreciate service.
