Since I first downloaded this app, it has improved incredibly. I’m both an EFL and GFL x 3 (Modern, Classical and Koine). For those who may not know, Classic (which some call Homeric or Attic Greek) 250 BC and Koine which is Biblical and (which some call Byzantine) 250 BC to around 300 AD, but which is still spoken is many small Greek Towns and Modern Demotic Greek are three different languages. Aramaic is easier for a beginner who does not even speak Hebrew that Koine Greek. Classic is much closer to Modern.
Given over a decade of formal education in Koine and because there are many groups in America who meet and use what is called “Living Koine” to discuss everything, combined with the number of towns in Greece who never were exposed to the changes after the Byzantine era, make Koine a living language. It also threw off my fluency in Modern Greek to an extent, I had a habit of inserting a Koine word when I forgot the Modern.
This dictionary (since it contains both the formal and everyday vernacular of Modern continues to help me stay on track and not confuse relatives at gatherings. Thanks!
