Flexibility and interaction allows for ultimate creativity. You can select any combination of notes you want to see right on the main screen, or pick a scale from the drop-down menu. Switch quickly between all 7 positions or tap the diagram to zoom out and view the entire fretboard at once. (The iPad version shows both views simultaneously.)

Features:
- Bass Guitar Mode
- Left Hand Mode
- Change keys
- Native iPad version (buy once and use on all devices)
- Flip diagram upside down
- Show/Hide scale degree numbers
-Show/Hide colored-in anchor frets

Included in the app is a tutorial to get you started (both right- and left-handed versions).

Laarz,
Excellent fretboard reference tool
This is a very cool and simple app for displaying guitar scales. It can be an excellent reference for soloing from simple to advanced harmonic structures. There are of course other patterns not included which use finger slides and position switches, but the seven static positions are covered well, so for basic position playing it is excellent. The entire fretboard view gives some clues how one might organize some shifting scales.

And as one can choose which scale degrees they want to see displayed this can also be good for learning arpeggios. Another possibility is to put in different modes of the same fingering pattern so one can see the changing chord tones and extensions of a harmonic progression within a static pattern.

What might be a cool addition would be the ability make print outs of a series of these scales or arpeggios one could follow when trying to figure out certain changes, but still using screen shots can help do this too (which I have done.) For this maybe adding adding an option to hide the entire fretboard at the bottom might be nice. Overall though, this is an excellent resource tool.
cmKammerer,
Beautiful App!
This is exactly what I was looking for when I started searching for a fretboard app. Not only is this app very functional it is also beautifully designed. Beauty is something many apps are lacking.

I would give the app five stars but on my iPhone X I am unable to use gestures once I open the app. This means I am required to restart my phone in order to close the app. Even with that hassle I still use the app. I like it that much.

I would love to see ability to have all the degrees of the scale remain slightly highlighted while only having for example the 135 fully marked out on the fretboard. That way you could see how the different degrees of the scale set within the ghosted entire scale. It would also be nice to see chords setting within the ghosted scale this way. Thanks!!
KyleHarris123,
Perfect!
I’ve been working on improving my fretboard knowledge and got out pieces of paper and a pen to work out all of these patterns for practice. You just saved me hand cramps...or maybe traded their source.

Thanks Chris!
zigmcclure,
Great app. Not sure it's worth $5 tho.
This application is great. I am honestly regretting paying $5 for things I can basically get for free simply via the Internet, but it does have some nice features along with everything one would want to learn very well consolidated.

However, for $5 I would at least like an application that allows you to hear the notes you choose within the app so as put your music together more quickly before applying it to the guitar. A common feature in many free applications.

No "restore to original scale/arpeggio" option once you've removed or added notes. That's super annoying.
No "note/chord progression suggestions". Which is also common with most music applications that are free.

It is a very useful application, but for $5 I did expect more interactive features than there actually are.

I will say that what the application does have is very well designed and laid out.

Perhaps I will grow to like it more, if so, I'll write another more commendable review.
77vahamal,
Very nice app
I love it because,it is simple and easy to visualize the fretboard.
Thanks a lot for it.
NoelJ72,
I love this app
This is a great, handy reference for all kinds of fretboard shenanigans. Scale (and interval) shapes are a huge challenge to overcome because, (as Mick Goodrick calculated) there are an average of 9.2 different fingerings for every note on the guitar. This app makes things easier. I can't wait till the 7th-position gets added (I heard it was coming in a future update). Also, the nerdy side of me kinda wishes there was a bb7 option to the 6th and maybe a b4 on the 3... But I'll shutup now because that would just clutter things up. The way it is already laid out is intuitive and beautiful. Great job, Chris McQueen! Thank you for doing this!
GaryrGennaro,
WOW!!!!
Really a great little app with tons of information. I like it mainly cause it is more of a reference tool than everything being laid out all nice and neat. I feel by me having to work things out myself it will digest into workable knowledge. Thanks you all for making this app
Brandon LEB,
Wonderful!
Love the exhaustive nature of this app. It gives you all the possible positions and you have the ability to change the scales to see how they interact with each other. It's incredible. I highly recommend this app.
Pine martyn,
