Fix chord name finder tool when you select open strings in alternate tuning. Thanks to user name GuitarInCT who discovered this bug.

Please note: With this update you don't have to connect to internet every time you want to listen chord or scale sound samples (required firmware 3.0). You should have wifi connection before downloading this update because this update has file size around 50MB.

Add feature "lock" position when you view a scale, arpeggio, or chord scale relationships. For example: you choose a scale C Major at the 8th fret, then you change to F Major, app will show you F Major at the same fret 8th.

If you are running iphone OS 3, then app will play sample sounds locally. IPod Touch user (1st and 2nd gen) can play sound without wifi access.

Some user reported GR Pro won't start up if their home internet connection was down (but wifi signal still on). This version will fix this bug.

Chosenonee,
Great App
I’ve been using the free version for quite some time and was very very satisfied with that. Then I cut the tip of my index finger off and was looking for greater functionality from the app so I upgraded. Am very pleased. The app provides a wide variety of fingering so I’m able to locate a chord structure I can se without my index finger. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I think there need to be a feature that allows you to keep the app active. Maybe that’ll happen in a future update????
Mandomat,
Too Bad it’s not supported
Just got this app, and it is pretty intuitive though it would be great to have a users page that actually answers questions. Like, since the chord finder says it’s in standard tuning and there is an opportunity to change tunings, how do you find chords in different tunings using the chord finder? Why is there no diminished chord in the reference (that’s an easy one to include)? Themes are very ugly. But it is very useful for finding names for some of the interesting chords I come across. So it stays for now.
ralyks45,
Mostly great
You can’t hit play in the finder screen. It’s always greeted out no matter what I do.
Brooklynvibe,
Great app, terrible revise
This app, as many people have said, is by far the best and most comprehensive learning tool for guitarists out there. It allows you too look at many chords, triads, arpeggios and then relate them to the appropriate scales in all positions. I use it daily in jazz guitar studies. It's great. However, I hate the new version. It's way less intuitive than the previous version, and harder to read. Why did you mess with something that worked great? Give me back the old version!
Seeker126,
What happened?
I had this on my iPhone 6s and it worked. It will not load onto my new SE. it says to pay, but there is nowhere to pay. It shows a load circle, but it will not load. What is wrong. No place to complain so, bad review instead!

Hey! Anyone out there???

I bought this with my prior iPhone. It will neither reload nor let me pay again.
Gtrplr66,
Not enough chords
I'm very disappointed. Tried quite a few of the odd chords I use and it never named any of them. I use Nutchords on my PC and is a much better app but apparently not available for iPad. Needs a lot bigger chord reference.
Monkeymanboohoo,
So awesome!
You gotta get it!

it's great
guitar-greg,
Sweet!!
What a comprehensive app! Not only a library of chords and scales, but a chord finder!?! Also, a wealth of information for the guitarist who has a desire to know the notes of the chord and alternate fingerings, and the scales that are playable with the chord structure, The play icon lets you hear the chords and scales (it opens a window in quicktime).

Did I mention alternate tunings, arpeggios, triads, and notes? Thanks for including the many features.

The only program glich occurred when I left the chords section after picking a chord to display, and went back to the chord finder. There was no response to chord finder. To make it work, I went to chords section, then immediately back to menu and then to chord finder. Worked perfectly!

One thing I would like to see: if using the quicktime popup, allow the user to close the quicktime window after he has the option to listen to the audio as many times as needed. Thanks!

The Best Hands Down
I am rarely compelled to write a review, and indeed I almost never do so. I do however feel the need to vouch for this application. With any operating system it is inevitable that a large number of apps will perform the same function. It is also inevitable that one of those apps will rise above the others and become known as THE app for digital photo manipulation (Photoshop), or THE app for music management (iTunes). For guitar players on the iPhone, this is that app. The developer has submitted a tremendous number of updates since I purchased the app; these updates were not simple bug fixes but added excellent new features. Many authors neglect their apps after their initial purchase, with Guitarist Reference this is not the case. If you are a guitarist, do yourself a favor and buy this app. You will not regret it.
