GuitarParrot brings the classic "Follow the Leader" game to a whole new place. Your phone or tablet! Start off easy, then increase the level as you improve! Work in all 12 keys, with many scale choices. Develop your abilities to hear notes and melodies and instantly land them on your guitar! Why is that useful? If you are a musician trying to improvise or learn songs, it becomes much easier as you connect your ear to your instrument. Any virtuoso musician will tell you that ear training is extremely important to musical growth. As an instructor, this is a game I play with students of all levels. I created this app to expand the game beyond what a normal human (me) could offer:
Scale - choose from 4-note, 5-note, Major, Minor, and Custom scales.
Keys - all 12 keys are available.
Octaves - two octave settings let you explore the neck more completely.
Levels - each level adds 4 notes to the melody. Level 20 is 80 notes long. Can you beat it? How about with a Chromatic scale?
The game can be played on iPad or iPhone, using the built-in mic or a guitar interface like iRig or a similar device. You can also use wired headphones with or without a built-in mic. Bluetooth is not supported at this time.
Instead of poking a note on the screen or touching colored lights in sequence, this app makes you play your own instrument. There is no visual assistance, it requires you to play using your ear.
This app is an incredible practice tool that should be a part of a complete program. A good instructor will show you how to apply the scales and notes to songs you may be learning.
As your short-term memory develops, you will retain other things you hear more easily and spend less time hard memorizing things!

0.4.2 - Minor updates to performance. Internal adjustments to improve false note detections. On some devices with loud volume settings, the mic could hear the last note played by Parrot and judge before the user responds.

The Custom Scale is now functional! By selecting Custom on the Sound Check page, you can access the new Custom screen in the menu bar.
You can build any 1-octave scale here by touching the 13 keys to enable or disable each note. The 'notes' button allows you to hear the scale. When you are ready for a workout, navigate to the Play screen and the Custom scale is presented on the neck, ready to play!
This will enable you to do intervallic drills, triad drills, or any other note arrangements you can come up with.

0.3.5 improves on the mic performance and also uses midi sounds for note generation. Midi improves the timing of notes played and keeps the timing more steady. Adjustments to Help screens. Fantastic Learning Tool
... and fun too. So much thought went into this App's design. So easy to use. Great help documentation. This is a must buy for any serious student! I can't believe it can hear me and know what notes I played. Its like Shazam only better!
