Gujarati Samaj of St. Louis is a non-profit organization serving St. Louis and its surrounding community since 1984.
Our mission and purpose is to:
maintain, understand, enhance and promote Gujarati heritage and culture in communities we live in and for the future generation
create interdependent relationships and become a resource amongst several diverse Gujarati community members
through joint efforts, create networking opportunities for business owners
Over the last 34 years, the organization has conducted several projects to promote Gujarati culture amongst St, Louis, and Illinois area residents. The organization is building its own Center which will support several thousand members, of Gujarati Samaj, for family events like birthday parties, wedding and baby showers and celebrate major festivals.
Some of the major events celebrated are:
Holi, the festival of colors
picnic
blood donation drives
dramas
Navratri, nine nights of the cultural festival
Diwali, the festival of lights
Our Values:
ESTABLISH a community center to provide, promote and celebrate religion, culture, and education, among the Gujarati Samaj and the Greater South Asian Community in the St Louis area.
DEVELOP closer cultural ties between Indian Cub Continent, Traditions and Heritage.
IDENTIFY and discuss areas of concern to our community and/or develop mechanisms for the regular exchange of ideas about concerns related to traditions and culture of Gujarati Samaj in different parts of America.
FOSTER harmony, brotherhood/sisterhood, and fellowship among the people of the Hindu faith and Gujarati culture.
INSPIRE people to engage in the Traditions and Cultural processes of their Adopted lands in meaningful and noteworthy ways.
UNITE, educate and preserve cultural heritage for the present and future generations.
