Description

This score card was originally optimized for the specific version of Hand and Foot card game that I play with my wife and friends. Now, the score card can be fully customized to suit many versions of the game. We normally play six handed games, so, the default is to have six players. The score card can keep score for up to eight players. A set of rules for game play is presented on the Rules tab, but, an internet search will also find rules for other variations of play.

This score card also allows for playing with 2, 3, or 4 partners. The main difference is that only one partner needs to lay down the minimum meld, only one set of books is played per team, and a team must have two red books and two black books to go out.

It is possible to print the scores directly to an Airprint supported printer. The scores can also be saved to the Notes or other app using the Copy All button in the History tab window. Open the Notes or other app and select paste.

The score card allows data and settings files to be saved to a computer via iTunes. The data file contains the history of the all the games which can be copied from the data file to a text file. CAUTION: DO NOT MODIFY EITHER THE SETTINGS OR DATA PLIST FILES MANUALLY. THE APPLICATION CAN CRASH IF THE FILES ARE MODIFIED.

iOS Version:
Due to minimum iOS requirements for the iPad Pro, the score card now only supports iOS 9.0 and later.

If you have options requests, or recommendations, or you have found a bug, please feel free to send me an email. Thank you and enjoy the app.

Some features using system default colors in the latest iPadOS version were not easy to see or read due to lack of contrast. Those features have been changed to fixed colors to ensure good contrast that makes them easy to see. Thank you, Brenda, for pointing out the issue.

This version updates the code base to use the iOS 14 framework. Feature enhancements include adjustable fonts for popup windows and new games can be selected even if nobody goes out for one or more hands. The popup windows now use the same font size as the scores area which is adjustable in the Settings tab.

Planned future enhancements include differences in scores in the update popup window, an optional fifth hand, and dark mode support. Currently, only light mode is supported due to the custom colors used not being dark mode friendly.

Entering a value in one of the text fields is now completed when a button is selected. For example, entering a value in the red books field without pressing Done and then selecting Went Out will complete the red books entry and make the keyboard go away.

If you are happy with all the changes and updates made to improve this app, please use the Rate Hand and Foot Score Card button on the Settings tab to update your ratings. Thank you for your support.

carlottascorekeeper,
Love this app
I have been using this app for a while now - I had written to the developer for some help in using, got an immediate answer and even an update with a few tweeks. This is the best app ever for keeping score on hand and foot! I love that you can go back and look at the score history for older games, keeps us on our toes trying to outdo our best scores to date. I would highly recommend this to all, and have recommended it to my friends that play with me, even if we can only use one scorekeeper at a time!
Williriz,
Great App!
I love this app and I find it very customizable. I was able to set it up for our version of the game. The only thing missing was the team difference total after each hand so I just put Team 1 total in the meld box in one of the unused columns and the Team 2 total in the Hand box (which is subtracted) in that extra column and we get the hand difference and it is saved when we update to start a new hand.
ACLSoftware,
Great score keeper
This score keeper has really come in handy for scoring our hand-and-foot games. It is especially useful because of the settings which allow you to set the score card up for your particular variation of the game. One such setting I would like to see is an option to display the difference in the scores. We always play men vs women and someone is always asking "how much are we ahead by"?
Also, a nice feature would be to select a game from the history (one that was not finished) and retrieve the game so we can finish it.
Jimmiejay,
Really great app
I have been using this app for a few years and really like it. The other day my wife wanted me to set it up for hand and foot 20 for 2 three person teams. I got everything to work except it will only go for for hands instead of 5. Which is not a real issue. Bottom line is it a really well written and flexible program.
mcnuts11jr1,
Very customizable and easy to use
I’ve been played for a couple years using pen and paper but I thought I could try using a app it’s working really well and I can the values of cards number of teams and players as well as customizing to add values of cards that I want. It’s a really great app for the game.
Tranrich,
Hand &a Foot score App
Used for the first time tonight and all 4 people loved the ease of keeping score with this app. Now everyone wants to keep score. Agree it would be nice to be able to know the difference in the score between two teams. Great app that I would score a ten out of a possible ten.
Dozndar,
Can’t see cursor
With the latest update you cannot see the cursor when you’re entering scores into the blocks. Also with the latest update the font is not visible on the “update” and “new game” buttons. Other than that, great app!
Melweb14,
Worked great until the end
We used it until the end of the game... we forgot to put in who went out and we could not go back to change it to finish the game. Frustrating after enduring a long game of hand and foot. I love the idea of this app.
dcabana,
Ok, but.....
Sometimes we run out of cards and no one can go out, but the score card won’t let you either go to the next round or start a new game unless someone goes out, which means someone gets more points for nothing.
Ladyhawk202,
Excellent app
Kudos for the developer in creating and maintaining this app. Been using it for years and it has been an added pleasure in our hand and foot games with family and friends.
