Description

Health for Tanita provides direct access to the health metrics stored in MyTanita. Just enter your Tanita credentials and all of the health metrics that you have uploaded from your Tanita weighing scale will be available on your iPhone or iPad.

Don't have a Tanita account or a scale that integrates with Tanita?
No problem. If you have any scale that displays body composition metrics, then you can simply enter them in to the Health for Tanita app and store them locally.

Options for using Health for Tanita:
* If you have a Tanita BC-1000 or similar scale that connects and uploads metrics to MyTanita.com:
- Connect Health for Tania to MyTanita using your MyTanita credentials (in Settings)
- Download your Tanita metrics from MyTanita.com

* If you have a Tanita BC-601 or similar that does not have external connectivity:
- Read your data from the SD card in your scale (perhaps using a WiFi enabled SD card) and store that data in a cloud account such as Apple iCloud, DropBox, OneDrive, etc.
- Choose the option to "Store Local Data" in Settings
- Import your data from the cloud location using the "Import external data" feature

* If you don't have your own biometric scale at all but have access to one (i.e. in a gym, etc.):
- Choose the option to "Store Local Data" in Settings
- Manually enter your metric values

Metrics that can be recorded and displayed are:
- Weight
- Body Fat
- Body Water
- Bone Mass
- Muscle Mass
- Physique Rating
- Visceral Fat
- Metabolic Age
- Caloric Intake

Features include:
* Display details of all of your current health metrics
* Display intuitive graphs for weight, body fat and BMI
* Graphs of all of your current health metrics can be rendered as either Area or Line graphs
* Export all health data to CSV file
* Export FIT files for manually entered data to email or iCloud
* Health metrics are colour-coded based on industry guidelines
* Extensive statistics showing high, low and current values across a number of different metrics and time periods
* Backup and Restore local data to iCloud
* Import Tanita data from external sources (DropBox, iCloud, etc.)

DISCLAIMER: Please note that this app only displays the metrics either entered and stored by you or stored on the Tanita website. As such, it should not be considered a diagnostic tool but simply applies industry standard boundaries to the metrics you enter. For example, if you enter your body fat as 60% it will be displayed in red indicating obesity. If, however, you have any concerns regarding the values generated by your Tanita scale and displayed in this app, then you should seek a doctor’s advice before making any medical decisions.

Version history

12.0
2022-06-29
This major version provides support for those users who's data is stored on Tanita's EU website.

Tanita use two different websites, depending on the scale you use:
mytanita.eu - repository for scales that communicate via a phone app over bluetooth (e.g. RD-545)
mytanita.com - repository for scales that communicate via a desktop app/widget using an ANT stick (e.g. BC-1000)

You can simply choose which repository to use by turning the "Use EU Tanita Website" setting on or off.

As many of you already know, Garmin terminated support for accessing bulk health metrics from it's Connect website so, unfortunately, support for Garmin has now had to be removed from this app. However, support for Tanita (MyTanita) continues to be supported and improved.

Recent changes include:
* removed Garmin interaction and support
* profile details are now local to the app (birthday, height) and are no longer read from Garmin
* fixed Tanita access to address changes to their website
* fixed orientation issues when displaying graphs

VeloMage,
Does not work
Supposed to be able to import body composition data from Tanita scales. Nice idea if it would actually work.
KJV/1611,
Extremely useful tool!
If you are looking for an app to track all of your data, that can synchronize with Garmin Connect and Tanita's platforms, this is the app for you. I use it almost daily and the developer has streamlined everything. Even when there was a hiccup in the serviceability of the app, (only due to security protocol impeached by Garmin) the developer responded to emails, kept me up to date with the app's progress. Honestly, he went above and beyond what I expected. I though he would give some generic, "I'm sorry but we are looking into why blah blah blah,". Instead he detailed everything for me and he also ensured his users would receive the fix once the solution was found. Great app, great developer, enough said.
jboggs326,
Tanita interface to Garmin Connect!
I have a Tanita BC-1000+ and have been unable to upload measurement data to Garmin Connect. This nifty app, used in conjunction with the MyTanita website, does the job! Thanks to this app, I can now integrate my weight and workout data in one place.

The process is painless. The Developer was a pleasure to work with when I had a question or feature request. Thank You!!
Thebarbeito,
Saves $200 bucks!
What an amazing app! This a must have if you own a garmin and one of these scales!
Ryan&Deanna Mom,
Mostly happy with it
Some things are a little off. Like first time use, there is no way to create a new account (do that from web). The order of fields does not match my scales, and there is no way edit entries. Plus the labels were confusing to sync. So I have 2 entries with very different values, for the same day.

Update 4/2022 Still mostly happy.

Since can’t edit old records, I had to delete and re-enter ( luckily I wrote those down).

Do like the graphs, although comparing entries from 3 years ago to now is skewed. Sorry to see no other recent reviews. Our scales are so old, I can only use this app as a log.Do appreciate the upload/backup feature.

Also, appreciate dev is keeping this up to date - thanks!
