Matty Says,
Legitimately the best app game I’ve ever had
I, like many other reviewers, grew up playing multitasking simulation games like Diner Dash. I have searched high and low for a similar game to come to mobile and none so far had the same feel. For one, they still were made with kids in mind, which I can understand. For two, the money grabbing antics of phone app games were ever-present. This game changes all that. You have a decent amount of energy to use so you can play levels, there’s NEVER any pressure or need to buy gems (!!!!!), the storyline is actually interesting and involves adult themes like grief, death, mental illness, addiction, etc. so it is stimulating instead of just “oh no big bad man wants my hospital, must stop”. Truly this game is incredible and very high quality. I purchased the energy packs in the game because I was having so much fun and because I really wanted to support the company. This is a game I would’ve not felt bad at all for paying $30 on PC for, so I don’t on mobile either, and it’s literally FREE if you don’t want to pay. Highly recommend!!! I’m 2/3 of the way through 5 starring all the levels while waiting for the newest ones to be released.
ZombiesAteMyNeighbor,
I liked the new style
Now I (as many of the other reviewers) am a HUGE fan of gamehouse, I used to download all of their games on Bigfish as a kid and got really hooked. As an adult playing, a lot of the levels are a breeze and it doesn’t take me much time to finish any of the games with 3 stars each level. Now with the new design I liked how it was challenging. A lot of the levels I had to replay several times to get the full 5 stars I wanted each level, and with the time it took for the energy rebuild it would force me to put my phone down and focus on another task until a couple hours passed by. I did not pay anything to complete the game but it did take some time and patience. So what? It was frustrating at first to not have everything NOW but in the long run I liked how it took awhile to complete each level and unlock all of the upgrades. It was new from the regular easy game style that’s usually presented. Since I do have the Gamehouse App, it looks like a similar style is going to be applied to the new Parker&Lane game as well and I really can’t wait! The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is because I like selecting which upgrades I would like and we didn’t really have too much information on what upgrades were available, you would just have to see what was in the chest and go from there. Other than that, it was an awesome change from the regular gameplay and I really enjoyed the layout and the challenges 😁
love-2-listen,
Great game, but please more story
I got this game when it first came out because I’m a fan of the Blue Giraffe games - especially Dr. Heart’s. I was willing to pay for the game, because the previous Allison games were such quality, but was dismayed when I saw that there were energy limits which restricted my playing. But I got over that, and enjoyed all of the 60 levels and side challenges available.

Imagine how happy I was when I learned there was an update, and more levels to play - and then the internal groan when I saw there were no new plot levels, and only challenge levels - and even those levels unlocked one at a time because you have to get enough puzzle pieces (usually 20 or more) to unlock the next bit of plot and one (1) more challenge level. That being coupled with puzzle pieces being rare late-game, and effectively relying on Daily Challenges to earn has made my opinion of the game fall. I would honestly prefer the developers make more plot-based levels (like the first 6 “worlds”) which would take longer to update, but would still preserve the game quality (again, all in my opinion), than the current method.

TL;DR: The first 6 “worlds” (60 levels) are great, and offer many fun challenges and rewards. From then on it’s painstakingly slow progress through the game, which takes a star from me.
JujuKitten,
Now free to play… but distracts from story.
I get that Gamehouse wanted to try a free-to-play format, but I really wish they tried it with a new title rather than the third installment of a series. I’m a huge GH fan (have 26 titles on my iPad, including this one, and I’ve paid the full price for each) and want them to try new things, but the dramatic story of Heart’s Medicine is hurting by this format. Way too many rounds for puzzles to unlock bits of the story (five or more before you can get back to the story rather than story-challenge-story-challenge). Then if you happen to miss a challenge, you have to you 20 MORE energy to replay it (every level is 20 energy). Want more and haven’t earned a free apple in one of the many random prize boxes? Pay up. It feels like more of a cash-grab than the GH format I’ve come to love. A massive disappointment. I just want to know what happens next to Dr. Heart!! And the massive amount of challenges to eventually find the key to unlock the next part of the story (and take forever to get through due to the energy system)? Always after a huge cliffhanger.

Only giving three stars because the story so far is still good, but the system is terrible. I’m only plugging forward because I do love GH and want to learn about the story. Just glad I bought the next Dr. Cares for something productive to do while I wait to be able to continue Heart’s Medicine.
1jaxsgirl,
Sadly disappointed
I am a huge Gamehouse fan! I have played literally every game. I started losing interest when there was a subscription for 9.99 a month. I have real life bills to pay. Nice option for those that have extra money, I guess. But releasing games to “subscribers only” felt like a slap in the face to the rest of us who still paid $9.99 per Gamehouse game to play.
No new releases are put out for us to enjoy. This is my second or third time installing this game out of desperation. And, I’m always left disappointed. It costs 20 energy points to play each level. Then you have to get a certain number of stars to progress to any new levels. Then you have to watch ads to double your score after each level because no matter how great you play, you never get more than 2-3 stars per level. That would be enough for your typical Gamehouse game but not this one! Then you get pop ups constantly asking you to purchase diamonds or apples or packages.
I get it, the developer needs to make money. I don’t fault them for that at all. But, this game is not enjoyable for all of the reasons listed above. We have been promised a new game for what seems like forever and no new games have appeared. This used to be my favorite developer but I am growing very weary now. I’m uninstalling this game yet again out of sheer frustration. This time I have learned my lesson and won’t be reinstalling the game.
Medicinenerd,
So fun. But glitches
I like the new layout. I’m a huge gamehouse fan, and hearts medicine is my drug. I could play this game for hours on end. Which is why I like the new energy bar, because now I can’t beat the whole game in one sitting like I did the last one.
My only problem is it tends to glitch. Not often, but sometimes. Sometimes in the main area of a level, where she’ll just decide to stand there no matter what you push. But most of them occur in the mini games. Sometimes if you wait to place a top block in the tangram(?) in the psych ward, it won’t let you. Occasionally if you don’t match a fingerprint directly in the first try, it’ll just go away so you can’t place it. Leading to earning no hearts. Wouldn’t bother me too much. But sometimes I don’t complete the challenge because of it, and I don’t want to repeat a level just because of that.
Other than those I love the game. It’s the best. And to be honest I still love the game with the glitch. I’ll play it no matter what.
Thank you for the awesome game
Midwest Lynn,
Too laborious and not much fun
I just learned about the Hearts Medicine series and played the first three games over the last few weeks. They were fun and very straightforward. But this Doctor’s Oath is a mess. Too many mini games and ways to go off track from the main storyline. Too many bonuses and things to do and earn and it all makes my head spin. All of this is a huge distraction from the main storyline and makes me forget what’s even going on and making me not even care to continue playing. I’ve just unlocked “daily play” and I couldn’t care less. It looks like more craziness to me. This game is a convoluted mess. I watched adds on one of the previous games of this series and it was ok and didn’t bother me. But on this game in the series it seems as if I am constantly watching adds because of all the ads after all the nonsense little games that I have to play to move forward in the main storyline. Also, for one of the other games in this series I did pay a flat fee of 9.99 to get rid of the ads. To me was well worth it. But there is no option here and I don’t want to be nickled and dimed throughout the entire game buying “energy” for Alison. I have made it about 75% of the way through the first section and really I can’t take anymore of this game. It’s so not fun like the previous three games in this series.
PezFan,
Frustrating and disappointing/update
Update: I played through the game and really enjoyed the more complex play. Don’t get me wrong: I loathe the way GH decided to run this requiring money for more time, but by the end I really liked the game. Still it wasn’t until half the game was played that I was catching on to the various complexities for acquiring keys, etc. So I was looking forward to going back and playing again. Surprise. No way to reset or play as a different player. Another fail. Really. You need to make some basic changes to this game so that your fans can enjoy it and not feel frustration and like we are what’s being played.

Gamehouse stories have always been quality and fun. Worth $10 per game. Now they’ve decided to change their pay strategy. You can still buy the games for $10 each but that now comes with annoying and long ads between each level. Or you can purchase a pass to play any game for $10 per month. And now I find out that they’re limiting playing time so you either have to wait for energy to build back up or purchase energy.
I guess it was only a matter of time before they succumbed to these schemes. The difference is that other games requiring players to buy energy is that they are either free or very cheap. You no longer get what you pay for w/ these story games. They’ve decided to gouge us at every turn.🤬
Boss_Lady_Jones,
Gamehouse got greedy.
I have bought every single game that Gamehouse has come out with, usually the day it comes out. I willing pay the $9.99 per game, because they’re well worth the price. I will not be paying a dime for this game and this is a slap in the face to their fans that have been following them for years. Needing energy refilled to keep playing?? Micro transactions to keep the game going? Bonus packs!? You’ve GOT to be kidding me....you’ve now become every other crappy game developer that is just looking to empty our pockets into yours. I don’t care if this is “your biggest game yet” or any of that malarkey. Then charge more for the game! I would’ve happily paid extra for an even longer, more in depth game. But this? Hell no. It will be the first GH game that I refuse to play. Absolute shame that GH has gotten this greedy. I can only hope that this is an experiment to see how we react and that it all goes back to normal. If the Emily games or any others suffer this fate, I will be hugely disappointed and my days as a GH fan will be at a close.

Update: what kind of developer response it that? You have hundreds of people who are fans for YEARS commenting on how they feel like they’re just cash cows to you and you comment and say “sorry, maybe you’ll enjoy the next one?” So disappointed in what GameHouse has become.
chrissytina ^_^,
Not the same game. Sad... =(
So, the addition of the freemium version of this is definitely not what I was expecting when I downloaded it. A one time payment type of game worked so much better for this. The energy bar is a drag but I’ll still play the game because I love the time management and the story (though I won’t download future ones if they’re like this). I also hate that even if you do everything perfect in a level, you don’t get five stars. That’s just dumb; if I did everything correct, I should get five stars not two. My biggest suggestion is if you’re going to continue with this freemium game for future Heart’s Medicine games, at least let us have a full energy bar when we level up like every other freemium game out there. Also, make buying one of the food items with diamonds a thing. I don’t spend real money on these sorts of games. You would have gotten the $10 from me for the traditional game, no questions asked. With this set up, you won’t get a dime from me. I’ll watch a ten minute ad before I pay real money for freemium games.
