Description

*** 2nd Edition of the Top rated Hematology Atlas and Glossary ***

Hooman H. Rashidi MD and John C. Nguyen MD

The anticipated 2nd edition of our iPhone and iPad Hematology Atlas and Glossary is now available and continue to be FREE of charge. They provide an extensive content in the subject of hematology and are optimized for iPhone and iPad users. The Atlas reviews the morphologic cellular aspects of Hematology while the Glossary reviews most of the important terms and concepts in the field of Hematology. We hope you enjoy this new resource.

HematologyOutlines is a comprehensive full-featured medical education application available for both iPad and iPhone. The Hematology Atlas allows multiple interactive options (e.g. rapid side-by-side comparisons of the individual entities, etc.), encompasses the normal and abnormal hematologic entities and displays them all through a very user-friendly environment. It depicts the individual cell types (e.g. RBCs and precursors, granulocytes and precursors, lymphocytes and precursors, etc.) in a visually stimulating style and allows the user to review the morphology, clinical relevance and look-a-likes in a very efficient manner. Multiple 3D diagrams and charts are also incorporated to enhance the user experience.

For added educational tools (e.g. virtual slide self-assessment, etc.) and app tutorial, please feel free to visit our companion website at www.HematologyOutlines.com

The Hematology Glossary is an overview of the most commonly used terms and concepts in Hematology. It also allows the user to compare multiple topics (similar to the Atlas) and with its easy to navigate search tool, individual entities are quickly found. For added educational tools (e.g. flash cards, etc.), please feel free to visit the online Glossary at www.HematologyOutlines.com. The software is intended as an educational tool only and designed for health care professionals in-training such as medical students, residents, Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS), Medical Laboratory technologists (MLTs), fellows and anyone with an interest in Hematology. It's also a great tool that could compliment your USMLE preparation.

Additionally it may also be used by physicians as a visual aid tool for their patients (e.g. to show the patient what their hematopoietic diseased cells may look like). However, use of this material for clinical diagnosis and/or patient management is prohibited. This is an educational resource only.

Highlighted Features:
* Interactive comparison tool (enables comparison of multiple subjects): Present in both Atlas & Glossary
* Quick search tool: Present in both Atlas and Glossary
* 3D cartoon images of entities: Present in the Atlas under the individual entities
* High Yield Diagrams and Tables for hematopoiesis and RBC abnormalities (e.g. RBC infections, abnormal RBC morphologies, RBC inclusions, etc.)
* Interactive hyperlinked "May Resemble" feature within each Atlas entity broadens the user experience and enhances the learning process

GJ. Alice L.,
Great Study Guide for Hematology!
It's easy to search and well organized. Very helpful while studying blood cells!
One of the few issues I encountered is that the "Feedback" button on the app doesn't really work, it wouldn't respond at all.
I was wondering whether more cells such as prolymphocytes, rubriblasts, prorubricytes, methemoglobin, etc. can be added to the list?
Also, some images that are on the web version were not on the app version (the images that need to click on "additional image" link in order to be seen).
Thank you so much for making this app!
kennywk,
Great resource!
Great resource! I just wish it had a quiz. One issue though: the buttons are hidden by the status bar at the top of my iPhone.
irishfrog,
Pathology MiniBoard Approved
I just took the NBME Path Mini-Board as a rising M3 and have to say this app was critical in preparation. For example, instead of having to shuffle back and forth between slides of Howell-Jolly bodies and Pappenheimer bodies, they have them side by side and contrast the differentials for each.

Some apps out there are a scam to get you to purchase in app material. This offers all the features of a great Heme path review for free. I am shocked. This would be well worth a purchase.

Each element of this app is nicely designed with visual appeal, ease of use, and a highly readable format, to boot.
Ashikatheninja,
Great app
Definitely a must have for any hematology student. Could use a few improvements, but I suggested some to the developers and the responded quickly and said they were already planning to make those improvements in coming updates!
Hddgj,
Wow
I honestly never review apps but I am making an exception for this one. I am absolutely amazed at the amount of information, and the ease of accessing that information. As a MLS student struggling in hematology I offer my sincerest thanks for making this app. I will refer this to all my classmates, thank you.
Ricolaureano,
Pretty accurate
I enjoy the accuracy of the definitions and how the app is set up. But when I use the atlas portion of the app it gets a little at selecting more then one cell to study, I can't go back to the previous page, and can't use the search option in the atlas. Other then that this app has been a great help thanks
jeevanmd2,
Excellent app
This app is awesome. I have always wanted an atlas to have around with me whenever I had to review a smear or aspirate. Now, I have a very handy one on my iPad and iphone!!! It is quite comprehensive for what it does and the content is excellent. Wish it had arrived when I was in fellowship... Nice work!
Mastiffpaws,
Very nicely done!!
This app is a GREAT reference guide! The pictures and information are outstanding and make this app a perfect laboratory addition. I'm stunned that it is free, but thankful to the medical professionals who were willing to give their time and share their knowledge with us.
Kodiak PA,
Very Impressive
I'm going to refer to this a lot. In just a few minutes I can't believe how much I already learned. Imagine how much you can learn by constantly referring back to this. I recommend it. Price is perfect, too. $Free!
Original Labdoc,
Best hematology app ever!
This app is great! The content is accurate and up to date, navigation is easy and the images look amazing. Anyone who works in the medical field should get this app.
