Cute, relaxing, and free - what is there to lose?
Saw this on Wholesome Games on twitter and had to download it right away. I grew up with Living Books computer games, and the “click around and fun things happen!” style of game really appeals to me (especially days like today when I’m sick).
The art is very cute (and hand animation is always impressive, especially in interactive contexts!), I love how the artist takes advantage of the way marker lines overlap to make texture on the ocean. I went through the whole thing twice and found new things the second time even though I’m pretty good at “find all the things!”.
I think it’s especially charming that there’s specific things to be done to move from scene to scene the first time you play instead of just getting to click the “next” button whenever, even though it always meant I moved on by accident the first time XD I really liked the transition from the final scene back to the first, I love the little squeaky sounds! (I also like that a way back was included at all, instead of just clicking the button for the first scene.) I also love the giant fuzzy friend I discovered my second time around. There are lots of little cute things to find and literally zero pressure to complete anything or solve anything. The music feels very well-suited to the setting and didn’t become uncomfortable as it looped (at least over the course of a few minutes - I suspect all loops have a finite tolerability).
This was a very nice thing to discover on a sick day. I will absolutely be keeping it to play again on other sick days.
