Description

Jump over pitfalls, razor-sharp spikes and crumbling blocks. Deflect flying fireballs, enemy attacks and axe swings. Bust open doors to secret rooms full of lava and gather shiny coins.

Sir Hoppenhelm is lost down in the dungeon of his castle Dunkelburg and must jump, block and slash his way back to safety before the rising lava gets him. Collect coins to unlock allies with unique abilities or expand your armory with new neat weapons.

I love this game!
Definitely worth playing! The controls are slide over to press making it easy to push multiple quickly with one hand. There are a few things to discover as well! For instance, the double jump! Surprisingly high skill cap and addicting gameplay. There are a few glitches but you don't run into them until 800+ points. I'm not sure how to contact developer if he intends to improve the Game, so I will list glitches here. Past 800 ish points the game slows down. As you progress further it continues to slow more, but speeds up temporarily inside doors. At any point if you are standing on a doorway, hit it, then instantly jump forward to avoid entering, all buttons stop working until death. Deep in when the game is slowed, sometimes all hits are critical hits, unless hitting while jumping. That is what I have noticed so far! Such an amazing ADD game!

Edit: all hits are critical hits on first round after opening the app. Tested with multiple charactor and swords.

Fantastic Game!
I always enjoy games with the simple to learn, hard to master gameplay. I can spend hours with this game, and it’s definitely worth a download. I look forward to seeing future updates with new features!

A note for the developer: I found a bug.
This bug allows you to play any character even though they have not been unlocked. First, select an unlocked character from the character selection screen, then navigate to the weapon selection screen. Start the game from the weapon selection screen, and the game will start as whatever character was selected, even if they have not been unlocked.

Great game in need of content
I usually don’t write reviews for apps but I really wanted to give my opinion of this one. As stated in the title of this review, Hoppenhelm is great. It’s a simple yet addictive infinite runner where you play as a knight trying to stay alive by fighting enemies, avoiding deadly traps, and collecting coins. You’ll have to be quick though, as a pink liquid is constantly rising which kills on contact. One of the things I love most about the game is how simple the controls are. You have 3 buttons; for one is to attack, one is to jump, and one to block. The buttons are large so you can easily reach them with one thumb.

My only problem I have with the game is its lack of content. There are 9 knights, all with their own special ability including things like having an extra heart, higher chance of treasure chests, etc. There are also different weapons as well, though they all have they all have the same ability. The problem is that they’re all fad too easy to unlock. You can unlock everything in about 2 hrs. After that the only reason to play the game is trying to get your name on the leaderboards.

Overall, Hoppenhelm is a really fun game that’s a great time killer. It’s just too bad there’s a dearth of content. Hopefully more content is coming soon because I’ve had a great time with this game.

P.S. There are ads in the game and you can disable them for $1.99. But I don’t think it’s really worth it because they aren’t frequent.

Good. A few opinions I've formed of my own.
The controls are simple, it's just attack, jump, and for some reason you can block, still haven't had to block anything really. The jump button can get a little unresponsive at times. All of the weapons you unlock are all the same, they just look different. Same with the armor, but with small differences, like one had an extra heart, while another gives a extra armor, but there's no difference between the two, as they just provide an extra hit. The level design is fun, with the rising lava forces you to act quickly. There's little doors you can go through that act as a little bonus level, but when there's an enemy on the other side of the door, you're almost guaranteed to take damage from it. The "Bull" armor doesn't work, when ever I try to use it, the game crashes. Those are my observations, but still a good game to play, plus it's free. I don't think I'd pay to remove the ads though, as I've already unlocked everything in about an hour. 3/5

Awesome game, but needs a few fixes
First of all, I must say that I have fallen in love with this game. It's fun, it's simple, and it's charming. However, there are just a couple things that I would like to see fixed.

Firstly, the game feels like it gets a bit boring once you unlock everything. The weapons all do the same thing, and unlocking all the characters isn't difficult. Perhaps giving different effects to the weapons, or allowing the player to upgrade their unlocks with extra coins, could be implemented. None of this is really necessary, but it may add more replayability.

Also, there are a few glitches or other gameplay quirks that could be fixed. Most noticeably, the game starts to slow down after a while. Also, pressing the jump button twice in rapid succession has some weird effects. Sometimes it creates a double jump effect, and sometimes it doesn't. And finally, a TNT space directly before an enemy with 2-4 hearts is effectively instant death, as far as I can tell.

Overall, it's a great game, but it isn't perfect. I'm guessing there will be improvements some day, though. Even in spite of its flaws, I'll continue to play this lovely little game.

Fun and Addictive, Needs Polish
Hoppenhelm is fun and addictive. The game is pretty straightforward and easy to pick up and replay. The pixel art graphics are gorgeous. There are a few opportunities the developer could use to get a bit closer to perfection:

- Optimize the button layout for tablet. Even for a guy with big hands, the buttons are painful to stretch for and the layout lends itself to blocking instead of jumping as a primary action. The result is a frustrating experience where a slip of the thumb causes a game to be lost. A corner-centric set of buttons would be a great first step, and better use of the extra side space besides black screen would be even better.

- Ad timing feels really abrupt. I didn't mind paying to remove ads, but showing the number of 'lives' between ads might make them more palatable.

- Most of the weapon power ups are solely visual and lend nothing to the game but an extra step to complete for completists. This coupled with enemy types that don't change an awful lot can be a bit boring. One interesting possibility would be a ranged weapon to aid in taking out pesky swinging axes and flying enemies more quickly or from a safer distance.

Pretty good game in need of a content update
I liked this game a lot. It’s fun a addicting to play but it needs a quality of life update. For one there are a few visual glitch’s that need fixing.

1. The sea fork say it does +2 damage but it actually can do 4 damage by its self
2. The blade of The Blood and Twig of Tree need to have there names fixed
3. When you jump at the same time you’re falling off the platform you almost stop entirely and two character models show up on the screen

There are also a lot of weapons in the game that feel redundant. For example let’s take the sickle. It’s ability is useless because it’s outclassed by the shield.

The blade of blood is a good concept but it takes so long to actually use its ability. You good go whole runs without it doing it’s ability. Please make it only about 10 kills to heal you.

The electric steal cost the same amount as the double trouble witch makes the double trouble axe irrelevant almost immediately.

The twig of tree is pointless because the sea fork can kill everything already.

Anyway those are just some things that you should fix to make the game better.

Great Game !
To be honest. I wasn't planning to keep playing after I tried it first time. But when I saw that each character has a special ability. I became curious what they are and kept playing & playing all time to discover them until I liked the game much more and became friendly with it.
Please add more stuff in the game and you may add advanced weapons too like guns but ofcourse with a limited amount of shots every run and we may find additional shots in chests and after every 50 steps the shots regenerate as we can also upgrade the capacity of each gun.

Overall Very fun game. I like it !
Please add more stuff in it.

An amazing game with mall amounts of content
First off this game will not lock most of the game behind a paywall or pressure you into spending money, which is amazing. I can also tell how much effort the developers put into this from how few bugs there are. However there is one major hang up keeping me from giving it 5 stars, which is a lack of content. You can unlock all of the knights and weapons in a few days with little effort. It would be nice if you could make your own weapons or have weapons with more than just chance for a critical strike. It would also be nice to have customizable shields. Other then the lack of counter this is one of the best mobile games I have ever played!

Very entertaining game
I’ve played quite a bit of the game so far and I really enjoy it! The only problem I’ve been having recently is the tnt explosions somehow changed in the last patch to only blow up standard blocks. What this means is if there’s a spike or a crumbling block or anything else next to the tnt, it will blow up a block further away. This leads to a lot of frustration because if something is blocking my path 3 blocks away I have to either jump through it, deal with it, or fall and lose.

Don’t get me wrong I still really enjoy this game but wasn’t sure if this was an intended feature or a bug and wanted to make it known.
