Have you ever been overwhelmed by all the different blocks in Hopscotch? In this release, you’re getting a Full/Lite keyboard switch for your Hopscotch keyboard! The Lite keyboard contains only the essential blocks that will help you kick off your Hopscotch journey quickly. Look for the keyboard switch button on the top right corner of the keyboard when you are coding. We can’t wait to see all the fabulous projects you will create!
If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com.

You are getting some bug fixes in this release:
- Previously, any empty drafts (unpublished projects without objects or code) will be automatically deleted in Hopscotch. We have fixed it so that if you purchased custom art with seeds in an unpublished project, it will be kept in your drafts even if it’s empty.
- You may have noticed that when you duplicate an object with a name that ends with a number, the duplicated object will have the same name as the original object, making it confusing to distinguish the two. This is now fixed, and all the duplicates will have a number appended to the original object name.
If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com.
As always, happy Hopscotching!

This is a quick bug fix for the resizing issue that text objects were having on stage. Now you can resize text objects on the stage and have them properly displayed in your project.

Get ready for a game-changer: you can now rotate your objects on stage! This will help you visualize your game better while coding on stage.
In addition, projects with the request seed blocks will no longer be automatically removed from the app. Instead, these projects will go through the filtering process similar to projects containing custom art when you publish them. Subscribers can also access their seed dashboard by logging in to https://community.gethopscotch.com/sign_in.
As always, if you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Hey Hopscotchers, you can now earn seeds with your projects with the Request Seed block as a part of the Hopscotch subscription! Here is how it works:
- The Request Seed block can be found in the blue Control section of the blocks keyboard.
- Each product can only be sold once in your game. This means that if someone already bought a speed boost in your game, they cannot purchase it again. To sell other types of speed boost in your game, you can create multiple speed boost products in the Request Seed block.
- To prevent people from changing your code and removing the seed purchases, all projects with the Request Seed block will not be remix-able in Hopscotch.
Try out the seed block today with your subscription! You can use this block to charge seeds for extra levels, special ability upgrades, and different skins for your characters. Can you think of other things to sell in your project?
You are also getting three new blocks in Hopscotch:
- The Set Trail Cap block changes how the ends of the line will look. This block is available in Advanced Mode.
- The Set Trail Opacity block changes how transparent a line appears. This block is available in Advanced Mode.
- The Show Pop-up block shows the users a message in a pop-up window. It’s useful for announcements, hints and instructions in your project.
Other improvements:
- You can now add comments outside of rules. Scroll to the custom section of the keyboard and tap “Add a comment” to create new comments in your code.
- The coding editor is now wider on iPad to help you see more code at once.
That’s it for now! We cannot wait to see what you will create with all the new features. If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

You are getting a quick bug fix in this release! Previously, when you assign a blank text object to an object variable, the object variable appeared empty. Now, it will say “Text” in the parameter of the object variable. Shoutout to Mr. Incognito for reporting this bug!

You’re getting some bug fixes in this release:
- Previously, moving objects on the stage was not working after you resized an image. Now, this is fixed. Thanks to the user christian bliss for reporting this in the App Store reviews!
- We fixed a bug in iOS 16 where drawing with two characters at a time would result in mixed-up colors and widths--no more!
- The blue highlight around certain parameter blocks appeared glitchy visually. This is no longer the case - you should see a clean blue highlight around the block. A shoutout to our beta testers for finding this bug!
As always, we’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Get excited - you are getting a brand new editor in Hopscotch! Now, you can make your own multi-level games or multi-page storybook easily with the scenes feature. Here are some quick facts about scenes:
- Scenes are different screens or stages of your game
- Use the blue “Change Scenes” block in the Control section to switch between scenes
- You can add, delete, rename or drag to reorder the scenes in the scenes menu
- Test out your code easily by tapping the “Play” button to preview the current scene
You are also getting some bug fixes in this release:
- Some of you have reported that Hopscotch would crash unexpectedly on your devices. Great news - we have a fix! This version will allow you to code, play, and learn in Hopscotch without interruption.
- Previously, the text would go back randomly when typing a long paragraph. This bug is now fixed. Thanks to StarlightStudios for spotting this!
- The Open Project block was causing the app to crash when you pasted a project link. This is now fixed. A special shout-out to Crosbyman64 for reporting this!
- Deleting custom images in your project was not working. Now you can delete custom images from the keyboard section again. Hat tip to Creation Productions for reporting this!
- Some projects in the community were not showing custom images. This is now fixed. Thanks to Fundardo for reporting this bug!
Ready to try out the scenes feature in your next masterpiece? We’re hyped to see what you’ll create! As always, if you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Hopscotchers, this is a big one: you can now use parameters in your custom rules and custom abilities! Now you can write the code once and use it all over your project with slight differences.
Open a new project and start playing with the refreshed starter rules to see parameters in action. The symmetrical mirror drawing and the two-colored gradient background are the Hopscotch team favorites so far. Lastly--open up the new rules to learn more about how they work. There are comments to explain what’s going on!
And as if that wasn’t enough: clones have gotten a total refresh! Instead of cloning an object in its original state, the clone will pick up the properties of that object at that moment. To learn more about clones, watch the brand new clone tutorial series in the video section of the app.
And lastly, for the advanced users, we’ve fixed some bugs in the execution order of code. Now you can use a set variable block right before an if statement, no problemo.
Other bug fixes:
The prompt block will work with local variables.
Comment blocks show more text.
Copying a rule or object now copies the set variable blocks too.
We love to hear from you! Send feedback to hello@gethopscotch.com.

This version fixes a couple of bugs for you :
- The menu pop-up was glitchy when you tried copying, pasting, cutting, and deleting blocks. Now, you should be able to access the copy/paste menu smoothly while coding.
- Previously, you couldn’t input text into equality operators. This is also fixed now.
If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

You can now undo and redo creating, deleting, and renaming variables in Hopscotch! On top of that, the undo/redo buttons will no longer undo/redo each keystroke when you enter texts. Phew, no more hitting the undo/redo buttons 20 times just for a sentence!
In addition, you’re getting some fixes:
- Hitting the “Clear” key caused the keyboard to close. Now, the parameter will stay selected. Thanks to Mr. Incognito for reporting this bug!
- Previously when you entered a new line in a text bubble, the texts would overlay. Now, it would only show the first line.
- Deleting a variable from the keyboard was removing incorrect variables in the parameter. This is now fixed, and deleting a variable will only empty the parameters with the deleted variable. Thanks to Crosbyman64 for reporting this bug!
If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!

Hey Hopscotchers,
You are getting a couple of bug fixes in this release! To start, you will notice that the app is much faster and smoother, especially when it comes to downloading projects and coding in Hopscotch. Yay!
Bug fixes in this version include:
- Hopscotch will no longer crash when you make a new custom rule or ability
- You can now update your custom art or image from the “Set Image” block
- Your text objects will no longer appear stretched when you resize them on stage
- When you delete a variable from the keyboard, it will be removed from your keyboard and your code
- Text values will update correctly in the block and on the text field above the keyboard
Thank you to all the users who helped report the bugs above!
We’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!
