Love this app- want more!!
Been playing this app for a couple of years now and absolutely love it! The puzzles are fun and easy to do, but sometimes provide a nice challenge. However I have been done with all but the weekly puzzle for a long time. Please update with the 2017 set and more puzzles!!
Update- Logged in today to see that the entire app has been revamped. It’s not the same anymore... I just wanted the 2017 set, not a whole new app.
Update- After spending more time on the app with this new update I am rather enjoying it. They’ve given a lot of new puzzles to play and I haven’t even explored all of the new stuff. I do wish that we didn’t have to start back at level 1, with all of the previous playing of this app you’d think it would give you lots of levels. Oh well.

Big update completely ruined the game for me.
When I first got this game in 2016 or 2017, this game was fun. It had little to no problems, and I am a fan of Picross games in general. But then an update came, and I thought it was fine too. I liked the update, until I figured out that they decided to add something VERY horrible to the game that killed the game. The problem is that you can’t replay a puzzle unless you erase it. You used to be able to retry a puzzle, no matter what. Even if you canceled and didn’t finish the painting, it wouldn’t erase the painting. But now you have to erase the painting and then try to solve it again. Now, this is fine for very easy puzzles, since it’s very easy to memorize the pattern and where the colors go, but if you completed a hard puzzle and you wanted to retry it, then too bad! You have to erase it. And if you quit the puzzle before you finish it, then it still stays erased. HOW STUPID ARE YOU GUYS TO CHANGE SOMETHING LIKE THIS?! I would not recommend downloading this game because of this one stupid update. Unless you’re fine with not replaying puzzles or erasing puzzles to actually replay them. And for you, developers of this game, if you’re reading this, please, please change it back. I am not playing this game until you add the option to restart the puzzle and not erase it, like how it was when I first downloaded it. This is downright ridiculous.

Loved it until I got my new XS Max
I have really enjoyed this game for a while now. However, after getting my new iPhone XS Max, I’m liking it a lot less. The problem is that the row of paintbrushes at the bottom of the screen are ALL the way at the bottom, which is the same place where iOS puts the horizontal bar that is used to swipe up to get back the phone’s home screen. Because the brushes are so low on the screen, half the time when I tap to switch brushes, the OS thinks I’m beginning an upward swipe to exit the app. This results in the brush not being changed, but I don’t notice that until I start painting squares with the wrong color. If I simply slow down I can avoid this problem, but on the harder levels I’m trying to go fast to get three stars. There is plenty of screen space to move the paint brushes a bit higher on the screen and avoid this problem. Hope the developer sees this review and makes the change.

Been playing for years, mostly love the update
I was able to restore all of my old games and brushes after starting the new update. However, because I was so far into the game, I don't have the opportunities to earn all of the coins and thing I would have if starting from the beginning. I may play through again anyway. I still can't figure out why we need to feed the cat fish. I tried one and nothing happened (that I noticed). My only concern right now is there is a subtle color difference between what I have painted and the little square to choose the color and sometimes I find that I pick the wrong one. There also seems to be more adds. If the price was right I would be willing to purchase the app to avoid apps, but I don't see the option anywhere.

Great game! Need Picromania chests to give coins!
I’ve been playing this game since middle school and I am now in my third year in college! I paid for the ad-free version and it was the best decision ever, super worth it. I always look forward to the new Tuesday puzzles because I have finished all the levels, previous Tuesday seasons (except 2020, can’t wait to get those!), and frescoes!
One thing I am frustrated about is that the picromania chests don’t give you any coins if you already have the items. I once played a game and got over 100,000 XP and got like 10 chests but got no reward (other than the XP) because I already had all the items in the chests. Other than that, this game is perfect I love feeding the cat for XP, wish I could earn more coins though so I can keep buying the store items!!

I have been playing Hungry Cat Picross since the first release & immediately fell in love with it! I love the weekly puzzles & usually complete them the same day (within 30 mins or less) & anticipate next week’s puzzle.
As far as the update goes, I like the new UI and it didn’t take long to get used to it. I actually had to redo all my puzzles even after completing all of them before the update. Just wished that I was able to keep my progress with the update. But I still enjoy playing this game & just recently completed all puzzles including the 2 40-grids puzzles (which I love, by the way; kudos on who came up with the idea & designs 👍). I mostly love the fact that there are no ads that distract me from enjoying my leisure Hungry Cat Picross solving time! 😄

Lost save file
I love this game, I’ve been playing it for literally years, and I want to love the updates too. I personally like most of the updates. It’s nice to have a purpose for all the sardines and puzzles I’ve completed. I think the new cats are cute, they’re just a little distracting when I play. You can also turn off the coin sparkle if it’s annoying. My main qualm is all the progress that I’ve lost. I've been playing since the end of 2014, and I've lost all of the sardines the I had. I was playing the new puzzles this week even though I lost all of my sardines because I at least had the puzzles I completed before saved. However, with this new update, I tapped the reinitOldSave and I’ve lost everything: the puzzles I’ve completed in the past and the puzzles I’ve completed this week. I love this game to bits, but my lost progress makes me so sad. We’ll see what the developers do in future updates, I believe in them :)

Favorite Nonogram Game
I’ve played a lot of nonograms. Most on ios aren’t very good, and even the good ones have huge flaws (such as anything over 15x15 being unbearable on a phone). This game is near flawless. It’s core difference from typical nonograms is great and engaging, and the game is a true joy to play. Ads and monetization aren’t too obnoxious. Overall an incredible game.
My only nitpick is I’d adore an option where if you’re sliding down or across it only fills in the row or column. I have accidentally filled in about a thousand wrong squares, which is very likely what leads to most of my busted puzzles I have to restart.
Otherwise a genuinely great game and experience, one of my all time favorite phone games, easily. Great work!

New update is more miss than hit
The new design is really hard to look at. Something about it being bolder, it’s harder to focus on anything. Also the sparkles that randomly appear on the game board are SO distracting, and for a timed game, that’s not helpful! And the way the whole upper part of the screen changes color when you select a different paint color is really distracting as well.
The update deleted ALL of the paintbrushes I just spent a year earning, and it looks like your already completed paintings don’t count towards your level? I had like 5 puzzles that weren’t completed when I updated, I feel like retroactively that should’ve added up to me being at least level 5 in the new game. And you have to be level 5 to unlock the previous Tuesday puzzles... which I had already completed except for one. I don’t see the cute little comments you’d get after finishing s puzzle. Those added a little personality and also helped when the puzzle design was confusing, I’m not sure why you removed it.

My favorite game!!!
Ok so I expected this game to be way more popular because of how awesome it is! I have had this game for YEARS, before the “purrfect edition”, and I’ve even replayed it a few times because I just love the puzzles! I was a fan of picross games for a while, but this Hungry Cat version makes it feel like a brand new game. Even though I have completed every puzzle, I still look forward to every Tuesday when I can play a brand new puzzle. When I’ve run out of things to do, I usually clear out a fresco and work on that for the week in my free time.
This is the first review I’ve ever written but I feel so strongly for this amazing game that I had to contribute! Also just saw that you guys have merch available and I definitely want to buy!!!
