Runs perfectly and is toddler friendly
First off, the app works fine for me, including payments. But it definitely isn’t intuitive. It’s tricky to set up if you don’t speak/read Chinese but a WeChat account is free. A Chinese bank isn’t needed. I paid just find using the AppStore like I do everything else (I’m based in the USA). The support they provide is top-notch, I got an email back in just a few hours. They contacted me via chat on wechat, spoke English well, and took screenshots and led me step by step to set it up. They explained the difference between the packages. One of them buys all 1200 characters. The other is a year of VIP status- this unlocks all characters for one to progress through but also unlocks the books they keep adding to the library for users to learn how to read. And they are beautifully illustrated and narrated. FYI It doesn’t say what the characters mean in English. You can guess some of them, but others like “ge” at the beginning not so much. Use a translator or, better yet, a bilingual dictionary and then see which definition the game is teaching at that particular moment. This alone won’t teach a person Chinese. But it’s the best character practice for kids I’ve encountered. 5 stars!

Best Chinese app!
It has 4 steps to learning a word: play, identify, practice, and write. The playing part makes learning fun, and the other steps have fun little reactions in them (like when you write a brushstroke it’s builds a part of a robot). There are so many more fun things beside of word learning like stories with the words in them and a place where you can “fight” others while learning words. There are too many to list!

Good app overall. Parents please turn off “play” in setting.
Living in the US, I have tried many ways to teach my kids Chinese and I would say this app is a pretty well made one. The app teaches the most common characters and their associated words. It also has many simple books that incorporate those words and characters.
Before this app, I was teaching my 4 year old Chinese myself using old fashioned ways and I was not getting very far. After started using this app, my 4 year old was much more interested in learning Chinese.
However, I would advice parents to turn off the “play” stage in the setting. For each character, a kid needs to go through 4 stages “play, recognize, practice, and write” to complete the learning. However, I noticed that my kid was way more interested in “play” than the other 3 stages and the “play” often has addictive games that have very little to do with the character. My husband (who is a seasoned gamer) especially is against my kid playing these games this early. So I turned off “play” for good. Although I can see that this app is not as appealing to my kid as before, it is still an effective tool as a teaching app.

Good, but a few problems
First off, the app itself is great, but I have a few problems like I said in the title.
The First problem was that basically I wasted $50? Around that much. Anyways, so after a few days of not using the app much, I went back into it and suddenly it told me something like, I can’t access the app anymore. I was really confused and tried almost everything that came to mind. Well, then I ended deleting the app instead... I was hoping the app won’t restart but it did... But then I finally fixed it and got back my other “account” or whatever you’d like to call it. But anyways, that’s fixed now at least.
Second off, it just happened now, but when I got back into the app, it restarted ALL of my progress... Well, right now I’m trying to find a way to fix that.
So I’m conclusion, what I’m trying to say is basically the app has a few bugs that needs to be fixed. I don’t mean to offend the app creator(s) in anyway whatsoever, because like I said, the app itself is really good. That’s all I have to say for this app, and hopefully I can fix the problem I’m having right now.

Best app for kids to learn Chinese characters
I tried a lot of different apps to teach Chinese characters to kids, this is by far the best. The leveled books are revolutionary. We are used to leveled books in English, but in Chinese this is the only leveled books that combine with Chinese character learning. I walk thru each lesson with my kid at beginning, then it’s on auto pilot. Before long, I am pleasantly surprised that they can read simple sentences. Amazing.

Learning Chinese can be fun and simple
My four year old loves this app and use it everyday. He can remember couple Chinese characters each time and enjoys the games while he learns. There is also picture book mode to review the characters learned, which is neat. It makes the learning not painful, and he has strong interest to learn more. This is such a blessing. Chinese is not easy to pick up.

AWESOME APP!!!
I think this app is just super awesome!!! My son LOVES it so much and he learns! Love it !! I do speak Chinese my self therefor understand everything being said and is able to translate, I’m not sure how the experience will be for someone who doesn’t speak/understand Chinese in this app. But I would give it 10/10! Super awesome app!

Locked out of account
This is a great app but I have been locked out of my account for months. Hong En has not replied to my attempts to reach the support. I will cancel if they don’t help me.

Problems I have had: we have been unable to log in for about half a year using our Apple account which is what was tied to our subscription. So we ended up canceling the subscription and going with a different app/tutoring service. I was also unable to figure out how to tie the other iHuman apps like pinyin to the Apple account.

How to setup in English???
It’s a great app for kids, we love it. However, there is no way to change the menu to English, but it’s an option on AppStore. Can someone show me how to?
Most of our school parents are non-Chinese but all send kids to Chinese school, it’s frustrating to give instructions to our kids by guessing… please help!! Thanks!

Best app
This is the best app for learning Chinese I've found. Unfortunately, I can't enjoy it because I only speak English. Will gladly pay subscription once English version is available.
