iVolution is easy to pick up but hard to put down.
You start with a 2 letter word seed like “AN” and use it to build a word like “FANTASTIC.” Then you select 2 letters from your word, and those letters become the next word seed for your opponent.
The words keep evolving, back and forth, a piece of your word becoming part of your opponent's word, then a piece of their word becoming part of your next word.

Do NOT download this update!! We have discovered a crash bug in this update. We are very sorry and will try to release a fix as quickly as possible. The workaround is to not completely shut down the app (only press the device's home button one time.

As for the dictionary not working under iOS 7, here is what you need to do:
1) Press the dictionary button in iVolution.
2) Tap the blue word "Manage" on the lower left of the pop up screen.
3) Download either (or both) the "New Oxford American Dictionary" or "Oxford Dictionary of English" by tap on the Cloud icon to the right of option. For some unknown reason, the "Apple Dictionary" does not work!
4) After the dictionary downloads, tap the blue arrow "<" on the top left of the screen.
5) Tap the word "Done" on the top right of the screen. The next time you use the dictionary button, you will now see a definition.

At long last, I have found and fixed the nasty crash bug that happens after selecting a new word seed!! The update will hopefully be available for download in about 1 week.
In the meanwhile, please use this workaround: After you select a new word seed ONLY touch the purple check button. Do not touch the blue semi-transparent graphic with the word iVolution on it that slides up and covers the bottom keyboard letter tiles. Touching this "keyboard cover" area on the screen after selecting a new word seed will cause the app to abruptly shut down.

This app is definitely better than Chain of Thought. For wordies and writers like myself, it is a must have. I love how they offer dictionary definitions as well. However, it does need to be updated, as it does not accept a number of words. But overall I think this could become the new Words with Friends :)

I LOVE iVolution!!!
iVolution is one of my very favorite games of all-time! It is challenging, stretches a person's vocabulary, and is a great way to spend a few moments (or hours if you really get carried away!).
Not only is it a fantastic game, there are so many options available. You really can customize it to be just the way you like it.
I am so happy that Jay, Julia and Daniel Bacal decided to update this incredible game so it can be played on the newer versions of Apple software. I feel I’ve been granted a new lease on life. That’s true, as far as playing this terrific game is concerned.
If you like word games of any kind, I strongly encourage you to try iVolution. I can’t imagine a word nerd like me not loving this game!

When I first got my iPad last summer, RhymieStymie was one of the first word games that caught my attention and which I immediately downloaded from the app store. That's a great game - creative, witty, fun and funny, always a pleasure to play. Now, these guys have released another winner: iVolution is clever, challenging yet relaxing, vocabulary-expanding and thoroughly rewarding....AND....you can play online with a friend or random opponent, the best part.
The game is beautifully designed, intuitively friendly, with wonderful, charming and original touches (you can find those out for yourself~!). You can choose how many rounds you want for each game, so they can be very short or a little longer for a lengthier challenge. There are cool powerups, great sound effects, etc., etc., just a pleasure in every possible way, cannot recommend it highly enough. (You can definitely tell I want more people to play with.)

Having trouble starting online game with opponent other than current one I'm playing with....also, letters weren't showing up when playing w computer and online in the online game....but this is a really fun game. maybe I'm doing something wrong. I can see I will get addicted!!!
