Description
Janet Evans is a true local. Born and raised in Gordonvale, she started swimming after breaking her arm high jumping at age 10.
She had a successful swimming career, including many State Championships wins, National medals and records, Queensland team representation and making the 1976 Queensland Olympic Squad.
Janet started teaching swimming in 1976 and gained her Queensland Teacher of Swimming accreditation in 1977. Keeping up with all accreditation requirements over the years and more including Human Movement studies at UQ, Janet was a successful assistant coach at Saints Swimming Club in Cairns and Head Coach at Gordonvale for a total of 20 years and has been a swimming teacher now for over 40 years.
Janet Evans Swim School specialises in teaching swimming to all ages and all levels. Her principles are based on the sound knowledge of what it takes to become a good swimmer and how to achieve this goal by giving even her youngest pupils the best skills to enable them to go where they want to go.
