philodygmn,
overall, an outstanding sequel
I played the original to death. This sequel is a great expansion that respects Arcade conventions while still providing lots of fun ways to progress and upgrade. There’s lots of new special powerups (and some old favorites that have been improved). The one part I don’t enjoy is the Arcade mini-games which are required to grind materials for upgrades to what are now called “Badges” that used to be just equippable buffs, because not only are the Arcade mini-games frustrating but the materials requirements require a _lot_ of play-time, much of which is made even worse by the _unskippable_ post-game progress animations that just force-feed you what you already won rather than letting you get more of the grind out of the way. The interface design is a complete jumbled mess using red dots where nothing is actually ready. But overall, they did a great job of expanding Jetpack Joyride and bringing some fresh ideas to the table. I’ve been enjoying the several hours that I’ve spent with it so far and see a good 20+ ahead of me in just this debut version, with more sure to come in future updates.
Pokchapper,
The Original was better
Don’t get me wrong, this game isn’t bad by any means. It just doesn’t hold up as well as the original, there’s so many mechanics in the game that the tutorial takes forever to get through and overall it feels like the game overdid it with all the in-game mechanics. For example the new health bar system feels like it makes the game a lot easier than the first one and if you lose any of your health than you usually get it back within the next 20 or so seconds, It removes a lot of the intensity and rush that the first game did so well. They also locked the beloved endless mode until level 10 which isn’t a huge problem if you plan to play this game for a while but it takes about an hour to get to to that threshold. They also removed the slot machine you got to spin with tokens whenever you died and replaced the equipable power up that added a lot of options and gameplay variety from the first game and replaced it with “badges” which isn’t a horrible change but I feel like those were really good additions from the first game that should’ve made its way into this one. I get that they were trying to experiment with the game but they removed so many good features from the first that it doesn’t feel as enjoyable. Aside from that the game looks and feels pretty good but compared to the passion and love the first JPJ had it doesn’t feel the same.
Dame D,
Fun, but too short
I had a blast playing this, but I’ve gone through all the available levels and upgraded nearly everything to the max level in a mere 3 days. The endless mode is nice — but there’s going to be no point to it after all the upgrades are completed. What am I supposed to buy with my money, blueprints, and tokens? I suggest making the upgrades more expensive (this probably sounds awful to most people, but I think it’s needed for longevity), raising the level cap on upgrades (otherwise, why farm tokens?), and expanding the “arcade” options *significantly* (only 4 games to choose from isn’t fun when 3 are always available at any given time).

Finally, none of the powerups/purchases from the main game make me any better at the mini games, and the obstacles seem so random that it’s hard to say I’m improving in any other way, or if the games even progressively get harder to begin with. For example, I “completed” the gravity race game very early on, which made me wonder why it had to end at all. Making me replay same game over and over for a handful of wires/screws/chipboards is the worst part about JJ2. Please add some other ways to upgrade badges, or again, add more arcade games so that it doesn’t seem like such a grind.
Kr1shD4F1sh,
So Fun To Play!
The game was a bit short (but they are thankfully adding more levels soon) and it was fun to play but it was a little too easy like the bosses weren’t very difficult. Also the level system shouldn’t have a max because I’m stuck on 50 and I’ve gained so much do but It won’t go any higher and leveling up or getting do is basically useless now and there’s no point in the challenges or anything. There was a couple of bugs I ran into like not being able to upgrade sometimes the button just wouldn’t work or the game crashing when I opened it. Overall I loved this game that’s why I gave it five stars. I played the first one a lot as a kid and this was so fun to remember and with the soundtrack and everything. One of the best things in this game is NO ADS!! Most mobile games these days are desperate for money but in this game THERE ISNT EVEN COSMETICS YOU CANT GET FOR FREE AND IT’S AMAZING!!!!! I’m so excited for the new levels even though it was a bit short and easy. Thanks Halfbrick and Apple Arcade for this 10/10 Sequel!!
DirtDiver,
Pretty Fun
We all played and enjoyed the endless runs from the first Jetpack Joyride. This sequel kept a lot of that entertainment! The levels aren’t so challenging that you can’t win and give up, but aren’t so boring that you lose interest in it. The upgrades are not so expensive that they are unachievable, and you are able to progress quite quickly. Barry still has his charm, the stomper still stomps, and missiles still fire away at you. But something is still missing… Where is Flash? Our favorite sidekick is missing! Where is the dragon? So many things have yet to be brought back as of yet! Also, a lot of this game is still being developed, so you do run out of levels pretty quickly, and WHY CAN YOU NOT GO BACK AND REPEAT LEVELS?!?!?!?!?!? Plenty of things say that more is in development, but why was the game released with so little to play on? I look forward to getting updates and more levels, gadgets, vehicles, etc.
El nacho cheese,
Good for a couple of days and then wears off quickly
I loved the original. Played it for months at a time, would forget about it and pick it up years later and it was still entertaining. Something about trying to beat your high score. Easily one of the best endless runners ever made. Which is why it’s so dumbfounding that this sequel doesn’t offer an endless mode. Yes, at first this does seem like it’s as good as or better than the original in every way but after you spend a few days with it, beat all the challenges, and even grind the annoying arcade modes to upgrade everything, you’re left with nothing to do. I have 2 million + coins and 1000+ gems with literally nothing to spend them on. I assume that even once an update is released, I’ll breeze though it in no time due to the excess of coins and upgrades I have now. All of this could be fixed with an endless mode instead of forcing us to repeat the same level over and over and over again. I can’t believe how close this game is to perfection, but the simple omission of what made the first game great means that this one isn’t worth playing for very long.
tehgamerboy04,
Feels like it’s early access
Jetpack joyride 2 feels like a sequel that just isn’t finished, and I’m not just talking about the lack of vehicles. Everything that made the original jetpack joyride great just isn’t here. One of the most important features is the fact that it isn’t endless anymore, which was the whole point. Now it’s separated into levels with an increasing high score you need to reach before the level ends. The slot machine and tokens are gone and just replaced with gems you can use to revive yourself. The new power-ups you can get in the run are cool, but it feels like they were put in to replace the vehicles. My biggest gripe is how the arcade game mode is required to play to upgrade the gadgets. Coins become more important as they are required to upgrade everything in the game from your health and damage to your vehicles and gadgets. So much new stuff has been added to jet pack joyride but doesn’t feel like it belongs, it’s just a separate game now. I hope this is not the finished game and receives continuous updates and love from the developers.
HHHHHHHa u wish,
Please add endless mode
You guys have a great game i thank you for for that. I gave you three stars because despite having a wonderful game when you reach the end it’s just over… I have tons of things left to upgrade but there’s not even anything to do once you beat mik(the final boss or level). You should have a mode to replay the story on a harder difficulty for one and for two you need an endless mode and leaderboards to really increase this games value and to really allow this game to shine in its glory. You have a great game with great items and pickups but to really make this an awesome success you gotta add an endless mode( if you don’t know what that is it means you play until you run out of life) I hope this is seen by the developers because this seems like one of the most basic things a game like this needs. Thank you and I hope to see these things added it would be a shame if this game dies out because a lack of replay value.
🐯 The White Tiger,
eh…
with each update, the navigation gets worse on tv. many times, you can’t even move around menus (and are forced to force-quit and re-open the game), you still can’t access the bottom row of costumes on the avatar menu, with the ‘B’ button — no matter what screen you’re on — it closes the game out (instead of having a dedicated “exit game“ option/button), and, now — in the newest update — you can’t even access any portion of the sticker album… let alone the newest second page.

another frustration is the ‘factory’ tab; when you are trying to tap the “mini-game“ at the bottom of the screen, it constantly takes you back to the top row of icons every time try interact with it (this actually happens with any button on any screen). instead of forcing you to the “info“ or back/arrow button, your positioning should stay in the same spot.

PLEASE fix these issues.
D Finn,
Just misses the mark
As a fan of the original, I was excited for this sequel release. It does have a lot going for it - I like the addition of the sectors, the upgrade systems, and the new combat/weapon system. Unfortunately it took only 1 day to fully complete the game. I now have no incentive to keep playing as it just continuously repeats the last stage. What made the original so great was that you could enjoy it for years, always chasing a longer run. The fact that there is no endless mode is a HUGE FAIL by Halfbrick, I’m honestly more shocked than Barry after tagging a zapper that they didn’t include it. It’s also a bummer that there is really only 1 vehicle to start - I’m not a huge fan of the space ship and gravity suit taking you out of the flow of the game as opposed to just adding a vehicle inside your run.

They need to introduce an endless mode soon, or the replayability will remain almost nonexistent.
