bri-na-nom,
Amazing!
I never review apps but this is so amazing I had to make sure everyone considering Joy knows how amazing it is! I have used MyFitnessPal for years and Joy solves all the annoyances I had with that app. I love that you can choose any quantity of what you’re tracking without having to make it a fraction of what the original serving size is. I can scoop out however much I want, punch in the weight, and Joy does all the work of calculating! I love that I can set specific macro goals and it will tell me how much of each I have left for the day in addition to calories. I also love that you can set different goals for different days/situations, and create your own categories of meals. My only complaint is that the simple, clean design and text can be a bit hard to read at times, and it takes a minute to figure out how to use it, but once you get it, it is SO easy!

Amazing Macro Tracking
This app is amazing - it has everything you didn’t know you needed in a tracking app. I love being able to set my goals each week, I love that it lets you make changes to pre-recorded barcode items (sometimes the barcodes are off a little) it shows macros on the screen as you search, it counts down on the journal screen as you go, my coach can have access to see my logs...not to mention is just looks pretty! Highly recommend 👍🏻
Beaker-san,
Comprehensive + great customer service
I’ve used the WW (Weight Watchers) app on and off and I’d say this app surpasses that one in many ways (visibility to macro nutrients; flexibility in choosing serving sizes and units of measurement; “Notes” feature)

I’ve also been impressed with their customer service, which turns around a reply almost instantaneously, much to my amazement. I’ve had a couple of times where I didn’t understand how to input something and they’ve been on it immediately.

My health coach/dietician also has access to all my data so she can track me in real time, and reach out in between our biweekly sessions if the thinks I might need a boost or some accountability.

The reasons I didn’t put 5 stars are:
- I generally don’t give out 5 unless there are no more improvements to be made (a rarity)

- The app can’t pull my activity from my Apple Watch (yet — according to my coach, this is a feature they’re working on.)

- The user interface isn’t as intuitive as WW, and also, I’d love to be able to click on a checkbox every time I drink a glass of water,
as opposed to aggregating it all and dumping it in at dinner or some other meal. WW allows you to do this.

These are relatively minor issues, though, and I’d rather have transparency and great customer service than the obfuscation that the WW engage in sometimes.
JFLP3,
This has everything I need
Finally found a food tracker app that does everything I need in one place. I can track my food easily, the search feature never disappoints, and it’s so easy to customize. My coach has access to it all, so they can watch my progress and help guide me without me having to constantly fill out food journals. Plus, the company keeps all my info and data private and secure, which can’t be said for a lot of apps.

Better than I thought
Surprised how nicely designed this app is. It is intuitive and simple to use. The database is much larger than I thought it might be too. Inputting new foods was confusing at first but not that hard to understand. Paying for the app, I’d like to see a little bit more robust search results. There are too many foods that come back which aren’t relevant, I.e., mint fingers results in chicken fingers.
micahmacbeth,
Finally the right app
I’ve been waiting for a better health and nutrition tracking app. All other apps cater to one specific type of eating while Joy is able to handle anyway you approach your nutrition. Change your target goal for the day easily and on the fly, quick logging of new foods and easily access your recents. Love it. And as a coach I can track and modify my clients - finally!!

Updated to five stars again
Whatever happened it’s fixed. The best calories counter that allows you to track macros. It’s fast. It’s quirky sometimes. Just get to learn to use it and it’s 100x better than MyFitnessPal. The app is basically just the web interface so technically you get the exact same experience on a browser than in the app.
m_ike19,
Unparalleled user experience
I have tracked my nutrition multiple ways over the years - classic (and manual) pen and paper, “connected” scales with lackluster front ends, recipe index cards, etc. Joy is hands down the easiest, fastest, and most convenient tracker I have found. Don’t sleep on this app. Whatever your health and nutrition goals, you absolutely need Joy in your life!
thattmexican,
The best I’ve used so far
I have used MyFitnessPal, loseit, and a couple odd ones and this one is my favorite by far, the 30 day trial is a great way to introduce it and you don’t have to put in a card so it won’t automatically charge you once your trial is up. But if you do decide to go to premium, it’s only like 5 bucks a month!
RuneSalsa,
basics covered
I find this app easier to understand only after using other fitness tracking app but wanting to remove the bloat. Im not interested in friends joining me in what my body feels like through diet so a simple scan and track app is useful for me.
