Features and specs:

Universal app
JRemote is a universal iOS application. The application will run on both iPhone/iPod touch as well as iPad’s. Each version is optimized for it`s screen size.

- Virtual remote for controlling theater view

DLNA and zones
Use JRemote to control all your DLNA supported devices. Any device supported in JRMC can be controlled from JRemote by switching to that specific zone.

You only need to enter the access key found in JRMC`s option panel (We do provide an option for you to add IP-address and Port manually if needed).

Gary I Irvine,
Thanks for the updates!
I’m glad to see recent investments in this terrific app for JRiver Media Center users (THE most powerful media manager and player ever).

However, there is a glaring shortcoming with the app that really should be addressed. When playing music in the app and you tap the small cover art button in the lower left, the cover art expands to full screen, which is great. But when the song changes, the cover art doesn’t change to match the currently playing tune. I like to keep my iPad open so people I’m entertaining can see what’s now playing. The PC program keeps up with song changes. Please make the app do the same!
Geoff Armstrong,
An excellent Remote app for J River Media Center
I just have two feature requests, both related to meta-data.

J River MC allows the creation of custom meta-data library tags. These tags don’t appear in JRemote for editing though, unless they’ve already been given a value in J River MC desktop. All custom library fields/tags should automatically appear in J Remote available for editing.

When you create a custom library field in J River MC, you can provide a semi colon seperated list of allowed values. These then appear in a convenient drop down menu for the tag in J River MC. Why can’t the same be true for JRemote? This would make editing of those tags from J Remote much easier than having to remember and manually enter one of the allowed values. It would also make mistakes far less likely.

JRemote Beyond Perfect Companion To JRiver Server
Wow, can’t say enough. I used windows media server orginally, ripped my entire CD collect to FLAC format on the window media server, but controlling it remotely fell short. You also could not stream to separate devices from an iPhone, unless you used iTunes which doesn’t support FLAC. Enter JRiver and JRemote. Setup was simple, turning on the server capabilities was simple, settup up the remote was simple. Now we can stream our collection to separate devices. I stream to my main system and run the stream through an external DAC into my Stereo, but we can also now stream to separate devices which allow a bluetooth speaker from the device if you so choose to be remote on the deck or backyard or something…FANTASTIC!
Thanks you,
Bill Wheeler

Features & Bugs
Time for offline listening capabilities. The Jriver server will stream media. That's fine when you have wifi. Otherwise you incur data charges. There is plenty of storage available on my iPhone. I'd like there to be a way to download music from Jriver to use with JRemote offline. Also, it would be nice if this app would provide remote access to the DSP settings to select output format, volume adjustments, and effects.

It was a GREAT app for Jriver audio, but there are serious bugs evident on my iPhone 6s+.

Bug # 1 - when the screen auto rotates, the player malfunctions by shrinking the cover image and merging the playlist into the same screen. The player no longer functions correctly. A restart of the app corrects this until autorotation occurs again.

Bug # 2 - when two or more albums have the same name, they appear as one -- merged together in the "Recent" folder. Sometimes a newly added album will not appear. Instead another album with the same title by a different artist will appear.

I've waited months for these bugs to be fixed by the developers, but they remain. They were not fixed in the most recent update. I've upgraded to the iPhone 7 plus and the same bugs are present

Other than than that, the app works well, but it is unstable with the autorotate bug.

I will change my review to 5 stars if the bugs are fixed.
krollb,
Beautiful, powerful, brilliant app
I am a new user of JRiver's software, and was hoping that there was an equivalent to the iTunes Remote app. Well, JRemote is not just an equivalent, it blows the Apple app away. Incredibly well thought out, beautiful visually, a pleasure to use, and incredibly stable. As strong an iPad app as the JRiver software, and that is saying a lot. Some other reviewers complained about crashes, I have not had a single problem in 2 weeks of heavy use. It brings all the functionality of JRiver to my listening chair, I couldn't ask for anything better! (Well, if there were a button that would copy the name of the artist and album name to a Wikipedia app so we could get virtual liner notes on the fly, that would really rock!). Buy this app.
Average Pete,
Does everything
I installed a 4TB NAS last week and the moment I enabled DLNA, Media Center was able to see everything stored on that drive. Using this JRemote app has become an absolute joy because it's so easy to use and navigate through my library. This was so worth the app purchase and the developers are always making tweaks and improvements. If you're already using Media Center already, you don't have to think twice about picking up this companion app. (One minor quibble I have is that when browsing the library or when playing a file, it doesn't show the accurate values for Flac bitrates -- in my case it consistently shows as zero. I'm sure this will get fixed and then I'll update this review.)
irishiwasdrinking,
It is about time.
I had AudioGalaxy and it was the perfect app to listen to my library streaming on the internet. They were bought out and so I changed to jRiver and have struggled to have an iPhone app work seamlessly. After years of waiting this app finally has played and entire album with out crashing. I have listened to 4 hours over 2 days and it has not crashed. It has moved from the Internet in the house to AT&T connection seamlessly. I have left the car and paused the song then come back an hour later and it played the rest of the song and continued down the playlist. Stunned! Whatever you finally did to work out the bugs. Thank you.
byrdmanic,
Excellent app, timely update
I had previously given this a 5 star review but since the update I have been getting frequent streaming errors that had never occurred before, so I'm assuming the update caused a new bug. Wish I hadn't updated. Please fix!

My original review: I have been using JRiver as a music server on my PC for about a year and really like it (it can do movies too but I just use it for music). The IOS remote app had not been updated in a while (leading to rumors that JRiver would no longer support it) so this update is especially welcome! There wasn't actually much wrong with the previous version, but I'm happy to report that the new one is streaming beautifully as I type! Go JRiver!
dailetx,
Major Bug Update Release
I had no problems prior to version release 3.34. It seems this update was for only JRMC 27 users. I use it strictly for audio. So I did not need that release. I began to have intermittent problems with locking up, not being able to change to another song while one was playing and loosing connectivity. Being intermittent I put up with it. Now the new version update 3.35 is absolutely the worse. It now locks up incessantly and I prefer the dark theme and no matter how many times I choose it it reverts back to the light theme whenever I reopen jremote. I have tried to get some help from their JRiverWiki blog which is atrocious unless u are a computer expert. It is not easy to navigate and get help. I wish there was a way to revert back to version. 3.33 where I had no problems and it worked flawlessly and have a way to choose if you want an update and install only if you want or need to.
Last version,
Video broken in update( UPDATED 10/1 )
The current Jremote 3.2 update for iPhone 6 running 9.0 iOS has completely broken video streaming to my i devices. Audio streaming still works great but when you try launching a video the app simply closes. I have loved this app and used it many times a day, please get it corrected before your customers get it downloaded and have this problem!

UPDATE: current update 3.21 corrected all video streaming problems and is back to a MUST HAVE app for any Jriver user. It is one of my favorite and most used applications.
Thank you Jriver and here are your 5 stars!
