Dblohsevn,
Feels like Kingdom Rush LITE
First of all let me say I am an OG Kingdom Rush players and loved every single KR game. This Junkyard game is a long time coming because I could not stand your foray into other genres, just couldn’t deal with them. However Junkyard is again tower defense goodness I have come to know and love from you guys. With that said, this game feels a little on the easy side for strategy. Towers cannot be built during level phase. What is up with only 3 rounds per level?? I hope that opens up more as I play more levels. Also boosters are garbage because they can only be used once on the level you buy them for and not saved for when you need it. I liked previous upgrades for towers instead of this current version of having to pick upgrades based on the point system during a level. I miss a lot of things from KR but could not give less than 5 stars because this is still tower defense goodness I come to expect from your team. Thanks,
MatthewNjaa,
Interesting but lacking depth
It is shocking to me that iron hide opted to get rid of tower upgrading. It still exists, but you cannot do this while playing and there is hardly any difference in the way the towers look. And they cannot branch into two different final towers either. Also there are only three waves per level which is also pretty boring compared to normal. ALSO heroes (all though you have far more options and don’t have to pay for any as far as I can tell, are much more limited in terms of upgrades and abilities as well. This goes for towers too. Only one ability and you can tap them occasionally.
This is all disappointing to me because upgrading the towers was very satisfying and I feel if they kept that this game would be one of their best. I love many of the new innovations they’ve added like the upgrades that the towers earn through leveling and the more free tower placement.
I wish my issues with this game were fixable but they are clearly a part of the design philosophy so don’t expect them to change.
Kingdudesam,
A fun and unique tower defense
I’ve been a huge fan of Ironhide games for like a decade now, so I was really excited to see a new traditional tower defense game from them. Although it looks like the classic TD gameplay, is very different from the Kingdom Rush formula. You can only build/upgrade in the “build phase,” and the traditional reinforcements have gotten a huge buff. But I actually enjoy the new formula, not more than the original one or anything, but it is a ton of fun. The polish and easter eggs make this a top-notch mobile game. For the most enjoyment though, I would recommend playing on veteran and not using the green boosters.
N8 Jones,
It’s ok, but it’s no Kingdom Rush.
As a big fan of most TD games, Junkworld hits the spot in a general sense. However, as someone who’s played through all four installments in the Kingdom Rush series, I’m disappointed that Junkworld isn’t more like those games in terms of mechanics. The characters, setting, and music are all fine, and it’s clear Ironhide pulled in elements from all their other games, but the actual gameplay feels lackluster and meh. Missing the ability to upgrade towers more while in-game, dislike the dragging required to move characters and reinforcements, and am not at all a fan of how there are only 3 rushes with pauses in between them. The pauses detract from the excitement of unstoppable TD waves while the low number of waves feels like the level is already ending right when the action is starting to be fun. It’s almost like the game feels unfinished. Hoping future updates or games from Ironhide will bring back more of their innovative TD magic that I’m missing.

Junk World
I’ve been a big Iron Hide fan since the very beginning. You guys/gals make the best tower defense games by far. I’ve been waiting for this “Mad Max” like release for some time now and thus far have not been disappointed. Graphics and voice overs are quality and authentic as usual. I’m not sure that I like the fact that I can’t add or remove towers during melee, like you could in the Kingdom Rush games. Perhaps I need only get used to the idea. When is your next big TD release? Whatever it is, or whenever it happens know that you have a lifelong fan of your work. Your artist is amazing and the vector graphic animations are sharp and dead on! Thank you for the many hours of challenging entertainment. Please hurry with your next release. Mr. Rogers
keb8907,
Love the game, but experiencing a bug with the current towers
I am currently on the second map the last mission fighting On the third stage being the final boss of the map.

I am using the drone hero
The lumberjack tower
The flame tower
The drone tower
And the bull riding tower
I have the stop sign tactic guys
The trashcan blocker tactic
The bazooka tactic
And the healer tactic
I have also been using all of the boost on this level, except for the heart.

The game is crashing at the exact same point 5 times in a row now but I haven’t changed anything just to see if it was a hiccup and I am on the most recent update released today. The experiment monster is making it to about 1/4 of the way of his path and causing my game to crash. All five times I have tried and again I have not tried to change my towers.

This is the only bug I’ve experienced in the game and I probably could get around it by changing some stuff I just like to set up. I’m currently using it. I’m trying to get them to the max level so to be clear I do love this game it’ll get five stars As soon as this particular lineup can get me past this map without crashing lol
Yahwe ben Yahwe,
The worst of the bunch
This one is the company going down hill. I can’t describe it, in the older games you just build stuff and it comes in time and it’s epic. Here, and to some extent with vengeance, it’s less and less with some towers you have to pay for. I get it, they need to find a way to make money, but it just doesn’t feel the same. They made it harder too, which is fine but it feels like more for repayable money sinks than real difficulty. I dunno, iron hide is dead I guess.

Edit: the developer responds that the game is too hard for me, and things are free.
The design of the game is what I am talking about, I recall this game follows something very similar to the vets that was released years ago. They were going to pursue a sort of clash of clans model. High difficulty, grind game play. I would say this to everyone, don’t get Apple Arcade for this game. Compared to kingdom rush 1-2-3 this game blows.
DrewRW,
Close… but no Kingdom Rush
I love the attention to detail with this game. It’s beautifully crafted. Similar to Kingdom Rush it’s well made. I’ve had it crash a couple times and I’m sure that will get worked out. I did notice it’s exponentially hard to level up your cards. Once you get around the 4/5 level. Maybe I need to play longer but it seems like the progress gets stifled pretty quick. There is for sure some redundancy on the levels. One thing about KingdomRush that was awesome was the little secret allies, plants etc you can tap to destroy enemies. It made every level a little more unique. I would say, ramp up the experience gain. Otherwise, the replayability might disappear really quick.
ivancho911,
Close to perfection
The game thematic is fully developed and detailed. It deviates from the traditional fantasy world and dives into a very cool wasteland. The first map characters are on point and the creativity and graphics is insanely good. The gameplay is challenging which I love and the towers are especially unique and well designed. Enemies might be this game’s speciality and the biome is full of creative aspects and very well drawn. I love the game but I would argue just a little hair on the soup. The order’s map and concept feels like it contrast heavily with a wasteland world and does not relate much with what I felt like the game’s central idea was about.
byronbulb,
Not what I expected from this developer
I was really excited to see a new game from Ironhide, I have loved all of the Kingdom Rush games, and I think they have done a remarkable job with the tower defense genre. This game could easily have been another terrific game in that vein, but instead it has a really weird play style that I do not enjoy very much so far. In this game, you can only build towers before the enemies start coming out, and you have minimal ability to affect the game during the waves. It makes the game a lot less interactive unless you want to micromanage your hero and a few powers. I’m only four or five levels into the game, maybe it will get better as I unlock more stuff? IDK, for now I am very disappointed.
