2018.12.01 UPDATE
The chair still works great, the app...we’ll see below. The same issues persist...having to reboot the chair power every time I need to use the app, and every time you do it adds another device “massage(P)” to the list in the app and you get to guess which one of dozens will actually connect to the chair when you select it.
Still no response in any form, via any channel from this company. So sad, I really like the chair but this really throws a big question about how much their 3-year full warranty is really worth when they ghost you after purchase.
*They did initiate contact in the 2Q18 about an update they sent out via programmable USB controller to update the air bag settings because users were complaining that they were too aggressive. However they ghosted me when I tried to get support for the app issues.
==========
This is much better than the wired controller on the chair. You have more granular control over the chair functions and can switch between modes, manual settings more easily. I put a mobile phone holder on the chair that holds the phone and allows earlier access as a controller.
However, it needs work.
1st) and this just a BIGGIE! I have to power cycle the chair EVERY TIME before my iPhone 7 Plus will connect to the chair via the app or for audio, which means getting behind the chair and flipping the power switch before getting in the chair.
2nd) every time I power cycle the chair, the app adds another entry to the list so the list of devices in the app grows forever. The only way to clear this list is to delete the app and download it again form the App Store. The device “massage(P)” is listed for every time I power cycle the chair. The app also lists two “()” entries, my “Apple TV” and my “Bose Color II SoundLink” even though they are not on ata the time. Once a device is listed in the app list, it doesn’t go away. Why that is I don’t know. This growing list of devices is displayed when you open the app and you have to click the right one to connect to the chair.
3rd) the app doesn’t work on an iPad even though you can download and open it. It’d be nice to have the app supported on tablets.
The audio on the chair is mediocre, but it works...it’s still a nice feature, just done expect great sound quality. The audio connection requires opening BlueTooth and selecting the chair separate from the app to play music on the chair speakers. Again, this suffers from the same issue of needing to power cycle the chair every time to be able to use the BlueTooth audio.
I’ve sent these issues to the company via several channels since I received the chair in 01/2018, but have not received any reply. I hope they will fix these issues and update the app or send out an update for the chair if needed. The HUBOT HM-078 chair is wonderful, and this BlueTooth app makes it stand apart from almost all other chairs.
